Sister Wives, anyone???

My opinion (which means absolutely nothing, as I have no say in the matter......)

I think that's a damn shame. This is not a case of those children being forced into this, marrying men old enough to be their grandfathers. On a strange scale of normalcy - THEY were very normal (and loving, and kind....kids seemed adjusted and responsible)

With all the sicko polygamists in the area (as per shows like Dateline and 20/20) why are they bothering these people??

I agree.

I really expected to watch this show once, be sickened and angry and have it reinforce what I have seen through the years on Dateline, and other such shows that do stories on polygmy.

I ended up really liking it. It appears to me, that the three original wives all make their own minds up, enjoy their lifestyle and the kids all look so normal, happy and well adjusted.

I can't imagine it (although I admit there are times I'd gladly turn my dh over to my sister wife for a few days!) but for them, its all normal. I am sure they'd look at my life and find it very unappealing.

As for Kody, yeah, he's a bit over the top and clueless but I think he is just sort of silly and immature although any man that can support a family that large must have something going for him.

I am sort of waffly on Robin. The waterworks thing gets under my skin and I could see her really causing some drama down the line. And she may be the trophy wife now, but in about ten years that pinched, bony face may not look so youthful.

I also watched a link last night of a Today show interview, and Kody seemed much more serious and subdued and Robin and the other wives seemed very natural with each other.

I hope they do the show for more seasons, I really enjoyed it.

And if the state of Utah puts dad in prison, then they better be prepared to support that large family with public assistance since his income will be gone.

If I remember right from the house tour they gave, Janelle's side of the house has the exercise room in it. It takes up a whole room!

Well from watching the show it doesn't look like anyone in the family is using it , so why not covert it to living space

I watched one clip where the pregnant wife was making their fave supper-fish tacos
I almost gagged
This is OUR fave meal too-I pan fry fresh fillets-add tomatoes, lettuce

SHE cooks FISH STICKS-puts that in the tacos-their sides are tator tots and corn (a starch and what the tacos are made from)

One of the other wives -the skinny one with one DD-said her DD eats with the taco bunch-but there SHE was making a healthy meal for one-its like she's a single woman living alone

Most baja tacos look like fish sticks in a corn tortilla. I love to eat at Rubio's (a west coast CA-AZ thing) and honestly, it tastes much better than it sounds!!! Some shredded cabbage, grated cheese, and a squeeze a fresh lime juice with that tortilla wrapped fish stick. Served with a side of beans and rice---yes, more starch, but very traditional!

If this has already been discussed forgive me...but has anyone noticed that the wives (not their teen daughters) have never showed their arms? They wear short sleeve tops with these body suit type garments underneath. WEIRD. Is this akin to the mormon uindergarments? Is it a sin for them to show skin?

I don't believe so. I had several friends that were mormon and they wore short sleeve shirts. Of course these friends were normal and not fundamentalists

I assumed it's because they have fat arms. I won't be caught dead in a sleeveless or super short sleeve top either.

Speaking of baby makin- I just can't get past how weird it must be for them to know their husband is with another woman- maybe they even hear them in the bedroom-the rooms are close together. And BK strikes me as the loud type.That is just creepy and weird. I wonder if the wives ever talk about it?
I was googling and was reading something about this woman who was married to her sister's husband and she said it was hard to hear them(husband and sister) having relations in a room down the hall from her bedroom. Yuck! So not right.

we go to a apolistic church (not strict like that at all and NO plural marriage) and some of the women there wear shirts under things to cover their arms,I dont, I wear normal clothes even dress pants sometimes and they do not care at all..we go there because the preacher was my dh youth pastor down south when he was little and they moved here so we go there...they are nice people.The shirts though seem like something most of them do.

Good point. And come to think of it, I remember noticing when Robyn was trying on the wedding dress how all the dresses in that shop were very modest. Not a lot of cleavage and all of them had sleeves of some sort. It's been a long time since I've seen a wedding gown with long sleeves.

From what I've read (on other forums) Janelle bought the house and then later added Kody's and Meri's names to deed. Someone looked up the records for their county, and got this information.
