What is the one thing you consider that is best about belonging to DVC?

Aside from allowing us to stay on-site in luxury accommodations that we couldn't otherwise afford, I'd have to say that the single thing we like most about being DVC owners is that it has eliminated the "commando touring" from our vacations. We take our time, arrive to the parks late, don't worry if a favorite attraction is closed for rehab, and generally have a much more relaxing and fun vacation, both in and out of the parks.

I second Granny's post. We just got back and were very casual about our stay,it was just he 2 of us this time.Next time with the grandchildren it may be a little different.

Our best thing is that we have saved thousands of dollars in room costs. Because we are a family of 6, we would always get two connecting rooms at one of the deluxe resorts. And we always go during school vacations (high priced). I used to have room bills at the Poly so high that I want to block them from my memory. Now our room is paid in advance and I know our costs up-front.

The best thing for me is that we enjoy our time in the resort as much as the time in the parks. All the irritating things about hotel living are gone...getting dressed and out for everymeal; Lack of storage; No privacy with kids along; Laundry; Cost...There are probably more, because the experience is so different.
It allows us to take long vacations without feeling edgy at the end to go home...we are already home! Sandie

The single best thing for me is to at anytime during the year for as short or long a time as I want to stay...the flexibility.:earsgirl:

Staying in a 1br or 2br unit! We were only staying in moderates and the All-stars before owning DVC, now we only stay in 1 br or 2br units and we love it! It is so hard to go back to staying in just one room now though!

I'm with Granny & Poorman - DVC = a more relaxed Disney experience. Up until now, all of our WDW visits were one-shot trips; since we didn't know when we'd be back next, we felt compelled to maximize our Disney saturation - in other words, G.I. Disney!

With DVC, we know we'll be back again, and again, and again, so we can enjoy a resort vacation with all of WDW to pick and choose from.

Single best thing is: it gives us way more vacations! Before joining DVC I paid $2,000+ per trip for rooms at the Poly, plus UPH tickets and meals out every night. At that rate, I would only go once every two years. With DVC, we're in larger, nicer accomodations and taking 2+ trips per year and bought AP's! We even use the AP rates sometimes and make a trip without using up DVC points! Best thing we ever did.

Taking friends and family with us and treating them to a wonderful vacation! I love the look on people's faces when they see a 2-bedroom at OKW!

Being able to vacation on site in a multi room unit (doesn't make too much difference to us yet if the kids are on the hideabed or in the second bedroom). Can't believe how much more relaxing the vacation was when we had a room to ourselves without our 4 and 5 year old on top of us. And having plenty of room for luggage, dirty laundry, kid stuff....no tripping over suitcases and stuffed animals.

We aren't saving money this way - we could stay in a moderate studio just as inexpensively. But the quality is SO much better. And, I suppose the Ft. Wilderness cabins could give us the same experience.

We still commando (though the kids themselves have slowed us down - its a kid thing, not a DVC thing).

LOL! ALL OF THE ABOVE! But seriously, I think the thing we like best is being able to go for longer periods of time at ANY time we choose, and being able to take friends along for more fun!

Wonderful accommodations
No more Commando Disney (we'll be back)
Enjoying the resort as much as the parks
R-o-o-m to spread out-no more cramped hotel rooms.
Flexibility.
The whole DVC experience!

Knowing that each time we leave to head home, we'll be coming back again. Don't know what I'll do in 2042!

I am a newbie and we are going on our 2nd DVC stay this May.
I would have to say not having to worry about saving for the room costs.
I would like to be able to say we will go more than 1x year but the 4.5 hr flight makes that not too easy.
:D
