Who knows what to believe? The memos are forgeries, but we are supposed to believe the content? Would you take forged check from me? I mean, I HAVE the money..somewhere. I could get someone to corroborate I have the money.

The best CBS can do is a 86 year old secretary to corroborate this? Why not the source that provided the documents, if they are so confident in the truthfulness of the content? I''m over half this woman's age and I have trouble remembering things 10 years ago, let alone 30.

What do you mean, "so called"? So, it was a govt conspiracy that he was honorably discharged from the ANG, because that seems to be what you are implying,when you say "so called".

What stories did Fox News make up about Clinton,exactly? Can you document them, please? Or a least name one story they made up on the level that CBS did?

CBS will never regain its credibility as a reliable news source until Dan Rather and his producer - Mapes? - are either fired or forced to resign.

There was absolutely NO substantiation of the "accuracy" of the forged memos. The 86 year old woman who agreed with the "sentiment" of the memos, but nevertheless identified them as fakes, is a partisan Democrat who hates Bush. No doubt she wanted to believe what the memo said, but was too honorable to align herself with an obvious forgery. She may truly have believed all she said. People often form opinions that agree with their biases based on hearing only one side of an issue.

Who else has "substantiated" the "accuracy" of the memos?? I mean other than the Michael Moore crowd or Terry McAuliff.

Ben Barnes is a known liar in Texas - he is also a rabid partisan Democrat - nothing he says about Bush can be taken as proof of anything. Who else has "substantiated" the message in these memos?? anyone?? Dan Rather doesn't count.

I think he should apologize to Bush directly. I'd say the same if it had been anyone else had he broadcasted false information about.

It is too late for any kind of meaningful apology.

If he were a 13 year old kid caught in a lie, it may be helpful to force an "apology" from him as a step in building character to deal with future events.

But Dan Rather is what he is - a rabidly arrogant partisan democrat operative. An apology from him now is worthless.

It would have been accepted with some degree of sincerity if he had done it immediately. But now, it is way too late for meaning. It would be good to see as part of his punishment, however.

The only meaningful apology from Dan Rather would be accompanied with his resignation. And his producers should be fired forthwith.

CBS is now relegated to just another DNC dirty tricks organization unless they clean house and start over with some honorable people.
