I really need my luggage the night we land. We arrive at MCO at 7:40 pm Friday Dec. 2nd and are staying at ASMusic. We have only driven down before. I don't want to be waiting up until late for it to arrive. Should we/can we bring it on the bus with us ??? I just got all the tags today !! Hooray !! But I don't know if I should use them of not. We are taking Southwest out of Islip, Long Island -if that matters at all. Thanks - any advice welcome !

7:40 PM isn't that late. Unless you plan to go to sleep at 9:00 PM, you should not have any problem getting your checked luggage delivered that evening. However, it's always a good idea to take anything that you'll need immediately in carry-on bags.

I think the best feature of DME is being able to bypass baggage claim and not having to handle your checked luggage after you check it at your home airport. You don't even have to be in your room when the luggage is delivered because Disney covers the inbound gratuity if you use DEM luggage transfers as designed. Also, by bypassing baggage claim, you'll be on an earlier DME coach to your resort. And at a spread-out resort like ASMusic, it's great not having to drag your luggage all over the place.

For your inbound trip, being in Southwest makes no difference.

Here are some things you could do. Pack enough for you first nite & maybe early morning in a carry-on & use your tags-ask for delivery in the AM of your first day. Or don't use the tags And get it yourself-I find the luggage at MCO is pretty quick. (alot better then vegas, Ft Myers or south bend)

either way I think ME is great.

about letting the luggage be delivered - but I still am hesitant. I really don't want to be waiting to get ready for bed since we plan on being up "at the crack of dawn" and everybody would have been at work and school that day already. What time do you think it would arrive at the room ?? Since we have never flown, what is the usual tip for delivering the luggage ?? I do agree that I really do NOT want to drag the luggage all around with us !!

Personally I think the nicest part of DME is letting them claim and deliver the luggage. I would assume that luggage will be delivered within 2 hours of your hotel check in....if you don't want to stay up that late then you can bring your over night stuff in your carry ons and ask bell services to hold your luggage and then deliver it at 6AM (or whatever time you want it)....they will be pretty prompt in the AM.

DME book states the luggage delivery to the room is already "covered". however you are supposed to tip when you leave if they pick up your luggage from the room and take it to the bus or airline check in for you.

Since we were not in the room when our luggage was delivered I do not know if they would accept a tip or not for DME delivery (they are already compensated for each DME delivery they make), but $1/bag is usually adequate for most other bell services deliveries.

I'd not worry and let DME do it! It seems to run very smoothly! We just returned about 2 weeks ago! And it was great! But we did pack a carry on with a change of clothes undies and bathing suit and tooth brush etc... just in case for dome reason we didn't get it! But we did no problems encountered and it was great not having to wait! When we returned to PHL we unloaded on the d terminal side since we were apprx 10 min early and had to goto the E side for the baggage claim and we had to wait apprx 20 min I guess by the time they got it off the plane and got it to the E side thats how long it took so it really wasn't worth being early! So I say don't stress and let DME do it for you! If you're luggage hasn't arrived by the time you're ready to goto bed if you bring a carry on with those necessities you don't have to worry about it! And you can call Bell Svcs and ask them not to deliver it until morning if it gets to that! Which I doubt but anything is possible!
