Should I keep avoiding Universal IOA?

When we go to Universal, we only go to the Studios and not IOA. I am prone to motion sickness and I've always thought that I can't handle the rides there (IOA). But I have to admit that I'm a little tired of the Studios part and would like to see something new. I avoid rollercoasters and anything that spins in circles. I definitely stay away from anything like the Back to the Future ride at Studios because that just makes me nauseous. I'm wondering if it would be a waste of money for me to even purchase a ticket to IOA because I wouldn't want to go on any of the rides/attractions.

Rhonda,
I don't know just HOW bad your motion sickness is, but my husband also suffers from motion sickness and he enjoyed IOA even more than US. He does ride the rollercoasters, but won't ride anything that spins either. The only rides that really spin in IOA are Storm Force Acceletron and MIB (just a little - that one didn't bother him at all). As far as BTTF goes, that ride made him positively green and nauseous for two hours. He was nervous the first time on Spiderman as it does have some simulator elements, but it didn't bother him and he loved it so much we went on three times! You can probably do all three water rides, Poseiden's Fury and Sinbad (shows). For a really different theme park dining experience, try Mythos. Also, IOA is so visually appealing it is pretty neat just to walk around. So in answer to your question, I think you should try IOA and I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Have you ever ridden a roller coaster? I get motion sickness as well, spinning rides are out of the question. Can't do BTTF. But roller coasters don't bother me at all. I am able to ride Spiderman and MIB with no problems. IOA is a great park, and as previously mentioned, it is neat just to walk around and enjoy the scenery. The rides there are some of the best around, I would give it atleast one shot if not you will never know if you like it or not. We tried Magic Kingdom for the first time last month and thought it was a complete waste of time and money.

No spinning on Jurassic Park, Dudley Do-Right, and Popeye and they are all excellent rides.

Hulk and Dueling Dragons make me a little queasy.

You should be able to do Spiderman. Back to the Future makes me a little nauseus but Spiderman doesn't bother me. Cat in the Hat is much milder than the spinning on Men in Black so if you can handel MIB, you should be fine on that.

I think Spiderman only has around 1 1/2 spins and that is through a fog filled tunnel. The rest of the ride I don't think will bother you. Cat in the hat has alot of spins in it though.

Thanks for the responses. No, I can't do rollercoasters. I can't take the dips and forget it if it goes upside down :scared1: Maybe I'll pop some Dramameine in my bag before we leave from home and just hope for the best. My husband loves rollercoasters. He went on that big one at Seaworld twice. I thought something must be wrong with him to get on that thing two times in a row -- You couldn't pay me to do it. But he doesn't like anything that spins. I have to say though that MIB didn't bother me but he was dizzy afterwards.

Remember, you can ask to have the spin turned off in Cat in the Hat!

IOA is definitely worth a visit. Even without the coasters, there's plenty to see and do. Take the time you "save" by not doing the coasters and enjoy a leisurely lunch at Mythos!

I don't do coasters either, though I did do Rockin roller coaster, and don't mind if I never go on it again LOL! But I love IOA! I stay away from all the coasters, but love Spidey, popeye, and especially jurassic park! There are many other things to do besides coasters, so go and enjoy, you won't be sorry!
