Should I be worried about son's height?

When my oldest son started ninth grade he was barely 5ft. tall. Not quite the shortest boy in his class of 450, but one of the shortest. He had a tough time with it, being short and stringy and he had braces. He is funny and a good dancer, so the girls loved him. My brother was just like him and I kept reassurring him that sooner or later, he was going to grow just like Uncle Tommy. Sure enough, he hit 16 and that kid shot up. His legs hurt, he grew so fast. I had to buy shoes for him every two months and he always looked like he was wearing high-water pants. He is now 18yo, 6ft tall and still growing.:earseek: The girls still love him, he wears a size 13 shoe, and he sings like Barry White. :cool1:

Tell your son not to worry. He can't help but grow. It's in his jeans. :rotfl: (sorry, i couldn't help myself)

Minky Dog, you sound just like me. I keep reminding my son he is going to be just like his uncle!

I am 15 months older than my brother. When I was 14, my brother was the same size as me (5 ft). However, I never grew after that and he stopped growing at age 18 to be 6-2 :earseek: (parents are 5-7 and 5-8)

My son worries alot about his height. He just turned 13 and while he is not exactly the shortest kid in his class, his height bothers him. He is 4-9. He has done alot of growing the last year. Very skinny (wears slims, but ends up with pants too big for him because his legs are too long) . He is also very athletic. I tell him not to worry. Even looking at your parents height is no indication of how tall you will be. My brother and I were both on opposite ends of our parents. As long as the doc does not have a problem with growth, you should not worry. Being short at the age of 13-16 is just something some boys have to deal with. I knew lots of them in 9th grade who ended up the biggest guys by graduation. I remind my son of the skinny geek in the movie Sixteen Candles. Look how big he turned out. :teeth:
