When my oldest son started ninth grade he was barely 5ft. tall. Not quite the shortest boy in his class of 450, but one of the shortest. He had a tough time with it, being short and stringy and he had braces. He is funny and a good dancer, so the girls loved him. My brother was just like him and I kept reassurring him that sooner or later, he was going to grow just like Uncle Tommy. Sure enough, he hit 16 and that kid shot up. His legs hurt, he grew so fast. I had to buy shoes for him every two months and he always looked like he was wearing high-water pants. He is now 18yo, 6ft tall and still growing.
The girls still love him, he wears a size 13 shoe, and he sings like Barry White.
Tell your son not to worry. He can't help but grow. It's in his jeans.
(sorry, i couldn't help myself)
