Shortening reservation dates on MDW and not able to keep hotel

I currently have reservations for AS Movies from 12/30 to 1/3. I am trying to change the dates on MDE to check out on 1/1, but it won't let me and keeps telling me that AS Movies is not available that day. Will I be able to change dates without canceling the hotel? If I called into the resort reservations line would they be able to do it for me?

Yes. Call reservations. They sometimes have to get the "back office" to do it, but as long as your check in date remains the same, there shouldn't be an issue

Sometimes over busy holidays they have a minimum night stay and by doing it online, it's flagging it as not meeting that requirement. If all else, tell them once you arrive - if it's a room only reservation. Though be prepared for them to tell you that you may have to pay for the night. People try to do this to get around the minimum stay restrictions. You may have luck calling!

Thanks all. I think we now have decided to keep that full reservation. We have a split stay, checking into CBR on 1/3. We have decided to try to take advantage of the AP rate at CSR and switch to that resort. I have been trying to do that on MDE for the past hour and keep getting caught up in a loop. I can go to check out, but each time i click continue, it just goes back to the same screen. I have tried different browsers and no luck. Guess I will have to call and ask for help changing that reservation.

You can always make a whole new reservation and cancel the old one(s) if you want or if the website is giving you issues, if inclined. No real downside other than needing to post another deposit (you cancelled room deposit will be refunded in a few days).

You’re probably doing this but make sure to use private browsing/incognito when making or modifying reservations - Disney’s website stinks. Although I saw a post recently from someone saying even that wasn’t working and they were experiencing something like what you describe above.

I'm also having difficulty modifying a reservation today. I just want to switch resort but the NEXT button is missing on the page so I can't move forward.

This is also what was happening to me. Going to try again today as I forgot over the weekend.

Yeah you usually have to call in to fix this, if it can be fixed

As a PP said there may be a minimum stay for that rate - or just a minimum stay for that date range.

I called into Disney Resort Reservations today and the cast member that helped me out was awesome. He was able to shorten our stay at AS movies from 12/30 - 1/3/24 to checking out on the 1st. He said it's not available to modify online, or even for him to modify directly, because that period for AS Movies is blocked off right now. He had to have guest services modify the reservation and my parent's reservation. Then he helped us change our CBR reservation to Coronado Springs and change the stay dates, giving us the AP rate. Great customer service from that CM.
