Given the new info, I think really all you could have done is to call and say:

"Sally, I really care about you and I am a little concerned about what I am hearing about Johnny.........."

And then you are done.

Honestly, some women (and men) just want to be with someone rather than be alone and they made some pretty bad choices. You can't do anything about it other than to be their shoulder to cry on when the bad choices come back to bite them.

I won't. Especially because I tend to get myself into trouble a lot. If she doesn't say anything in a few days, I'm just going to say this.

Realistically I wouldn't say another word if she doesn't bring it up. If she brings it up, that would be my response.

You told her he was a liar, not necessarily a cheater since they didn't have an exclusive boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. But if he's been telling her he's not seeing anyone else, then he's lying.

I was always an oddball because I was not a "I need a man at all costs" kind of girl. So I would have appreciated being told I was dating a liar. But everyone is not like me.

Based on your update it sounds like your mutual softball friend is the girlfriend and your 5-hours-away best friend is the other woman. Someone's getting cheated on, but it's not the one you think!
