I just saw that myself and the caption said this man was detained briefly, then released.

i heard on FOXnews that the person in that photo was a reporter for the campus newspaper, that was a little too zealous in his reporting and was released shortly after the picture was taken.

All the news reports I have been watching and reading state the young man in the photo is not connected to the shootings, but for some reason was on the grounds after they went into lockdown. As the only description they had was a 20 something Asian American, they decided to apprehend the young man because he fit the description. However, they then found the suspect already dead.

I haven't seen anything like that yet. I'm assuming they are still trying to contact all the next of kin or something.

Authorities have probably not yet notified all next-of-kin.

You must be sick with worry. I have not seen a list. I checked the VT website a few minutes ago. They still said 22, and I didn't see a list.

The control room person just interrupted the news reporter on MSNBC to say that the count is now at 31 dead. DH went to VT along with his 3 brothers. My heart and prayers go out to all of the families victimized today.

That information is now at the top of the msnbc website.

Wounded students being evacuated from classroom building. Given they are not being handled by EMT personnel, are not on gurneys/stretchers and are being "manhandled" in the rush to get them out, it appears this shot was clearly taken while the shooter(s?) were still active in the building.

My sister-in-law attends VT. I spoke to her on the phone earlier. Needless to say, she's very upset with the situation. She was on campus when the shootings started, and immediately left for her apartment. She's been unsuccessful in getting in touch with most of her friends, some of which were in one of the areas where students were killed.

I'm sickened by this whole situation.

Yes, I heard 31 dead moments ago as well. This is just so horrifying. In my area it's hard to meet anyone who doesn't know SOMEBODY at Va Tech. It's so sad.
