To help people improve their photography, I am starting a series of tutorials about various photographic topics. They'll range from very simple and fundamental techniques that anyone can do to more complex techniques that may require specialized equipment.

If you are interested in the technique described, try a few shots and post your results. We could all benefit from seeing what worked for you and what didn't.

Feel free to add additional information to any of the tutorials, correct mistakes, or add an alternate point of view. I am more than happy to start these tutorials, but I don't have anything like a monopoly on knowing the best way to do things. I still learn new things all the time.
