Shoes at security

Do kids need to take off their shoes or have the new rules taken effect? I just want to make sure DD wears easy to remove shoes if needed. TIA!

We just flew the beginning of October and my son (age 8) did not have to take his shoes off.

Nice to know, I also assumed it was the current process but wasn't sure.

Flew through MCO and PHX last week. DD11 did not have to remove her shoes.

As the San Diego TSA lady said to me (when DS set off a random "check this person" bell through the metal detector but *I* was the one who got swabbed), in response to that situation and the new shoe thing, "I guess they figure that kids aren't devious"...

Great! I hoped the new rules had taken effect, but I wasn't sure if it was immediate or if there was a delay before it started.
