I was awoken in the early hours of yesterday morning by noise from outside in the street (our bedroom is at the front of the house), there were at least 5 police cars etc. I could hear someone sobbing and there was lots of coming and going etc, it all seemed centred on a house at which an elderly couple live 3 doors from me. They keep themselves pretty much to themselves although I do know that the husband is in ill health and has been taken away in an ambulance a couple of times, so we assumed that maybe it was a sudden death but could not fathom why so much activity. When I left for work there were 2 policemen stationed outside the house and when I got home yesterday afternoon Scenes of crime where in the front garden (all dressed in white boiler suits with plastic covers over shoes etc).
I found out later on that the house was burgled, the husband sleeps downstairs due to ill health, the wife upstairs - and the wife was raped, she is in her late 60's. Apparantly the police have known that there was a peeping tom in the area but decided not to tell the residents. There is a police car outside the house still.
So please pray for this family, I am of to light a candle at the Church on my way to work.
