one night in Orlando before heading to VBR staying off property. where do you go for dinner? looking for unique to the area or fun for tweens.

I'd look for a Landry's Brand - there are many in Orlando. We really like the Salt Grass Steakhouse.
And being a Landry's Select Club member gets you great perks.

Regarding "fun for tweens," is Disney Springs off your list of locations? T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe might be fun for them, and parking is free. As far as "unique to the area," we like Columbia Restaurant (https://www.columbiarestaurant.com/celebration) in Celebration, but it's probably not "fun for tweens," unfortunately!

Cowfish at Universal City Walk was our go-to for that age group.

We enjoy BJs or PJs that is right near the Vistana! They have a large menu that can suite the needs of a lot of people.

We enjoy this restaurant but unfortunately this location didn’t match the service or food quality as the saint Armand’s location.
Love the 1905 salad though!!

We haven't been to Citywalk in ages maybe we should check that out. I remember something about a chocolate restaurant there.

Andretti Indoor Karting isn’t too far away if your tweens have a need for speed after they’ve eaten dinner! Plenty of arcade games there too.

The food there is only okay. The shakes are pretty cool. The steampunk vibe is great.
