I was totally blown away by the newest FD pin for the rest of the year. With all of the chatter about possibly no FD, I was not prepared to see that. Got myself straight real fast and booked this morning for November. Anyone else surprised by this?

Most people who have said no free dining have said to the general public, so pins are not included. Now if it goes out to the general public I will be happily surprised. Although I do need to say Disney411 has said all along it will be open to the general public, so we shall see. :thumbsup2

Not surprised at all. I actually have no idea why people are always saying that they won't offer free dining. They always do. It's just a matter of when.

I was a little surprised that the pins came out this early though. I thought I'd have to wait til summer.

My cousin was pleasantly surprised to receive one of those pins yesterday too and quickly booked her family vacay with FD.

Congrats to all those who received the pins!

:goodvibes Count me in as "surprised". We did not vacation in WDW last year since there were no significant discounts for Thanksgiving or our Spring Break - our only vacation options at this point. I also don't think there were any PINs covering our needed dates. The blackout dates started earlier than they had in previous years.

We were considering Disneyland, but then within a few hours of getting this new PIN, I booked POR without even consulting any other member of my household!

We will be there for Thanksgiving too!

I'm not sure why you would be shocked by a PIN offer. Pleasantly surprised, yes. IIRC, similar offers have been made in previous years. It remains to be seen if this will be made available as a GP offer in the coming months.

We received this offer as well. Unfortunately, since we returned from our latest visit only last week, we won't be able to use it this time around.

Is everyone getting the pin code offers by e-mail or postcard? My Mom and Sister almost always get the pins by postcard and they haven't received one so I called today and they told me there's no pin offer for any of us. :crazy2:

It's very dissapointing. We are booked for September but much prefer to travel in November.

:) I'm happy for everyone who has gotten one. The savings, for us anyway, more than pays for our airfare. :cool1:

I was not shocked at all. I'm always shocked at all of the chatter on here EVERY single year that they are not offering free dining. I shared my predicted dates for October - December on here a number of times and most of those dates are being offered through the pin. I would say most, if not all, of those FD dates will drop for the general public this summer, probably July :-)

:thumbsup2 I hope so cause Disney won't send me a pin. :( (Not that you don't know that already, being I mentioned it on most of these threads multiple times.) :rotfl:

Disney411..you've helped me before, and hope you can again:)

I've asked this question before on another thread, but I've changed a few things, so now I'm not too sure..

I'm arriving on Tues, Oct 15th, doing R0 reservation till Sat, Oct 19th (4 nights R0)

Then, on Sat, Oct 19th I start my package with tickets/dining.

I was hoping to go to MK on Wed, Oct 16th and 18th. Am I able to pick up my park tickets on the Wed to go to MK. I've heard its "up to 3 days" you can get them, but if I arrive the 15th, and have R0 till the 19th, but I don't need a park day on the 15th, only the 16th would that still be considered 4 days, or 3?

Sorry if this is confusing....

As far as I know, you could pick them up on the 16th, which is 3 days before your package reservation starts on the 19th. You may want to message CheshireFigment, the Disney CM who wrote the Ticket Sticky on the Themeparks board, just to double check :-)

Okay, thank-you so much!!

One more question and I'm done!!

To purchase dining (not free dining) do I have to buy a 1 day or 2 day ticket?

I've already got a package for my 2nd portion, but I was considering making my R0 into a package as well.

Thanks again for all your assistance:goodvibes

To purchase the DDP you have to be booked under a package that includes room, tickets and dining, but would only need a 1 day base ticket minimum - but that can add up, depending on the number of people on the reservation :-). Your dining plan price would be based on the number of nights you are booked at the resort, not the number of ticket days purchased. You may already know that, just wanted to make sure it was clear :-)

Shocked, surprised, whatever! The timing just seemed early to me. Maybe it's not early, or maybe it is. I don't know. Why does your post sound ugly because I used the work shocked. I couldn't believe it when I opened my email and saw it.

Shocked, surprised, pleasantly surprised...whatever!!!:rolleyes2

Seriously, I think it depends on the travel dates people are looking for and the amount of flexibility people have.

I absolutely did not believe the whole "cutting back on discounts" chatter I heard last year when I was looking to book a trip. UNTIL, I could not get what I wanted and we skipped Disney last year!!!:rotfl:

Even though my kids have the whole week of Thanksgiving off of school, Disney adjusted the blackout dates making it impossible for us to get any discount without taking kids out of school. Even Disney 411's predictions for this year did not include November 22 or 23rd - which was the check-in dates we needed. Not that I'd seen those posts anyway as I was not on here looking for any discounts right now, because last year the discounts were not released for that time period until July, Aug and Sept.

Geesh! It does seem like there are snippy replies on here! I know that I opened my email and thought "Oh my gosh, I got a PIN for the dates I need - that were blacked out last year! I can't believe it!"

Hope that clears it up for those of you wondering why anyone could possibly be "shocked".

Where ya having your Thanksgiving dinner OP? We've done Thanksgiving at the Fort and Brown Derby in the past. Looking for a new place this time around......
