We'll be at Sheraton Safari for the first time for our 4 free nights (using Starwood Points) July 5 - 9. Anyone been here lately? I'm sure it's nice but just want to get some feedback from some recent visits!! Thanks for the help.

We will be staying there starting tomorrow thru the 8th. I'll let you know how it was when we get back if you would like :)

0 Days 8 Hrs 33 Mins 33 Secs to go!

Thanks Netnurse 31!! Have a great trip and a great time. I'd love to hear about the Sheraton Safari when you return. Hope you have great weather!! Thanks again.

We stayed there on a Priceline bid two years ago. We were upgraded to a suite because we had a Gold Starwoods card. The theming around the pool area was very cute, although we didn't spend any time there. Our suite was very clean and spacious, but a little worn around the edges. The maid service was sloppy about leaving the right number of towels, facecloths, etc--annoying but minor. I would stay there again if I got a good rate--or with points, as in your case.

Lizzytish, just got back from the Sheraton Safari last night. Very easy check-in. We aren't Starwood Gold Card holders but we do have a regular Starwood card and were offered an upgrade to a suite for $10 a night which we took. All of the rooms are decorated in a safari theme. The suite was very large with a living area complete with a sofa bed and a small kitchen area. In between the living area and the bedroom there was a sink and vanity <rather large> with the toilet and shower in another room. The bedroom contained two double beds and a balcony that overlooked the pool. The room was clean and the housekeeping was very good. The coffee machine was a blessing in the morning when we had to get up early for a PS. They kept it well stocked with coffee and tea every morning. The pool was great, kids loved the water slide. We were able to swim everyday, the water temperature was VERY warm despite the cool temperatures outside. Room service was also very good. DS loved the hamburgers. Kids under 10 eat free when accompanied by an adult. We didn't use this option because we were generally in a hurry to get to the parks for opening. The location was perfect, lots of stores and restaurants within walking distance. We visited a Dunkin Donuts across the street a couple of mornings for breakfast on the way to the parks. It took us about 10 minutes by car to get to all of the parks. Downtown Disney is a 2 minute car trip away. They do offer a shuttle to the parks but we didn't use this service. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Hope you have a great trip!

I've booked the Sheraton Safari for a trip in the summer.
We were told the Hotel was located 1/8 mile from main gate
about 1 block. Now, is that a walking distance? Would I be
able to walk to a park and get on Disney Transportation
to begin my day?

Also, was there a grocery store near by? Again I won't have
a car or be renting one I need to rely on public trans/shuttle
and my feet.

Merci.

Netnurse31 - Thanks so much for your report about the Sheraton Safari. I looks like it will be a great hotel for us to stay in. I'm glad to hear it was so close in driving distance. I figured so much but you never can tell - maps and the hotel staff can be a little "deceiving". I hope you had a great time at the parks and thanks again!

jaimebelle, you could walk to the gates of downtown disney but its still a pretty long walk to the marketplace. You have to walk down Hotel Plaza Blvd which is a rather long stretch. The hotel does offer transportation to downtown disney though, you might want to utilize that.
Shopping is all around the hotel. You can walk to Crossroads where there is a Publix for groceries :)

Just wanted to let you know there is not a Publix market in Crossroads. It is a Goodings , 24hr supermarket. It is a nice store but kinda pricey. If ya just need a few things it will be fine .
