Shaping up for 2.0

Hi all. Jumping back on the weight loss bandwagon. My wife Cathy and I have both lost 5 lbs since January. It might have been more by now if not for our trip to WDW a couple of weeks ago...those ADRs take a toll! She doesn't know it yet but I'm getting her a Wii system and the Wii Fit Plus for her birthday in a couple weeks! That'll be great for the whole family. Keep up the hard work everybody! See you at PCC 2.0 (our first time on DCL)!!!

Has anyone tried spinning? I have lost about 65 lbs by watching what I eat and spinning about 3x a week! I have a new addiction.....spinning! I remember the first time I even considered the idea...I thought, NO WAY! Then I said scew it, I can at least try it....it kicked my butt, more importantly I felt amazing after it! So I say try it, you might like it!

Good for you! I tried spinning a few times. Wow, what a workout! It LITERALLY kicked my butt...even with a padded seat cover! But I'm sure if you keep at it, you get used to it. Keep spinning those pounds off!

How is spinning different from riding a bike - regular or stationary?

I would love to spin but I have bad knees. :(

Another 2.6# loss this week - for a total of 28#.

This week, I discovered my Wii Fit actually works and I do 40 - 60 minutes every day before dinner. :goodvibes

Excellent, Jaime!

Somehow, I haev not yet found theright balance of Wii Fit and candy bar. I like both.

What is your favorite Wii Fit? What do you think is most helpful to your weight loss. I like the balance games, but they do not burn calories. I like the bicycle around the island. The obstacle course leaves me out of breath and I have finally finished it twice after many attempts.

I like the boxing for the upper body. I like the free step (while watching soap operas) for the legs and hips. I like the yoga and strength training for burning calories while basically standing there. I LOVE being a penguin and a chicken. I like that you're just playing games. I set the calorie burn to an ice cream cone and I can do it in 40 minutes. My favorite game - just for fun, not calorie count - is snow ball fight. I also love that sitting on the board while watching a candle is called "exercise". What is most helpful is that it's fun and I'm not sitting on the couch instead. :goodvibes

So you have the Wii Fit Plus? I have the original, but I hadn't been doing it for a long time. I'm just starting to get back to it this week.

I love doing Free Step for the same reasons. I can watch TV while doing it. I crank up the speed because the maximum speed isn't too strenuous, and you can get more steps in. I also change the sounds to the tones. I find them easier to hear. I just hate the woman's voice interrupting you every moment.

My favorite balance game is the penguin.
And I do like the boxing game! I used to hula hoop a lot, too. The Super Hula Hoop really made me winded!

Congrats, J!!! That's awesome!

I love the free step too. I do it while watching my trashy reality TV.

Me, too!

Penguin, bubble girl and slalom for balance. Chicken for fun. Super hula hoop, rhythm band, bike around the island and obstacle course to get me moving.

I haven't tried the stepping without the steps on the screen -free step. I do the regular step on and it thinks I am stepping unevenly and keeps stopping.

Love the segway one. I am not sure if I am hurting my ankles or making them stronger. Will it make me ready to be on a real segway?

I use the Wii Fit 6:30 - 7:00 in the morning. It is now light enough and will soon be warm enough that I will be out walking during that time. I will miss my mini Wii me!

well hello everyone.

i've lost 1.5kgs in the last couple of weeks. that's about 3.3 pounds. for me that is pretty good! i'm not necessarily just shaping up for 2.0, but hey, any motivation is good!

I think I want Jaime or Shanan to be my dining buddies. I try to make smart choices when dining out. However, since restaurants tend to give too much food, I want Jaime or Shanan there so I can split half my meal without being tempted to clean my plate!

I think this would work for us.

Fabulous idea! I'd like to be a dining buddy.
That would mean not being on the dining plan?

When we go to restaurants, we always bring our own leftover containers. Split the meal as soon as it is served. Sometimes get dinner and two lunches for the price of one restaurant meal. But can't to that when we travel.

I love the variety of tastes at buffets. They are my downfall. But if I am "good" at all the other meals....

I've been reverting back to bad habits lately, but I changed it up this week. So now I've giving myself a kick in the pants, and I have had lots of small victories.

I didn't eat the last chocolate chip cookie sitting out in the work kitchenette area.

I didn't take any piece of any one of FIVE different coffee cakes someone else brought a couple days later for his birthday.

So I went to WW today and had a 3.8 lb. loss! That negated the 3.2 I gained last week (egad!) and then some!

I'm back in the saddle, and I will get back down to what I lost and then some.

Lost 5 more pounds and plenty to go! I hope everyone is having great success with weight loss.:grouphug:

Hi all. Well I just got back from the doc...went over some test results.... got that all in order ... moved back home (been away at the cabin) which is totally NO Excuse for me I know so as of today I mean business!!!! :) Down to the nitty gritty with this the healthy weight loss thing. The Doc is going to some follow up tests down the road so I am hoping to bring down some of what needs to come down!:worship: I find the treadmill in the past was my main source of exercise now I am afraid my plantar fasciitis that over the past few years i would get in one foot and the muscle would finally heal and then I would get it in the other...well now it is in both feet and physio just wasn't doing the trick anymore. So I am definatly going to have to switch the exercise portion of it up a bit. I hope I don't sound too clueless but does anyone know if there is a more benificial time of the day to exercise over another??? Morning better than night or does it not really make a differance. I will be reporting in on this thread just to hold myself accountable. I am not sure how active this thread has been lately I did not go back and check so there may be a possiblility that it if the thread ain't active all the time it might look like I am just talking to myself so don't mind me...:lmao:... My goal that I set for myself now I am not sure if it is reasonable or not. By the PCC I would like to be down 77 pounds. Wow. Just typing that down seems like a first step I am not one to really announce things about my weight. (Now should I submit that????) :rolleyes1 Anyways I hope I can stick with this and if any of you have any suggestions or tips of whats helped you in the past or helping you now I would appreciate it. :) My husband is going to do this with me this time (even though he really doesn't need to) but I am sure it might make things a little easier. :) Thanks for listening! :cheer2:

I think the best time of day is the time that you will really do it!

Perhaps an expert might weight in (ack!) with a different answer. But when you come down to it, the best thing to do is to actually DO IT!

I like your answer Mainegal :) Thats how I feel too!!!! I have heard different reasons of why you should do it this time of day and not that time of day. I think it's an accomplishment if I just do it at all and stick with it!

Morning is a better time to do it!

From http://www.bestsyndication.com/Arti...06-burning_fat_exercise_before_breakfast.htm:

If you exercise first thing in the morning your metabolism will get a boost for the whole day allowing for more calories to get burned throughout the day. Exercising at night you rev up your metabolism only a short time just before you are going to sleep. When you sleep your body goes into the slowest metabolic rate of the day. Exercising at night can be counterproductive when you want to exercise to burn fat.

Another reason to do it 1st thing in the morning is you will most likely stick to it! Life won't get in the way when you have to do it 1st thing!

I want to lose 70 lbs by PCC 2.0 also! I don't know if I will be able to do it or not, but we can try!

I did well with weight loss for about three months last summer. Then it went back on! I didn't keep losing, I didn't even maintain!!!

I was going to do better in February, a nice short month. Oops! I ended a pound less than when I stated.

March - a new start!

As for a goal... speaking from my own experience, come up with something attainable that can be maintained.
77 pounds? I don't know where you are starting, but I could lose something similar. But I haven't been at that weight for twenty years! So I am not going to try now to get to my "goal weight".

I am going to try to attempt it in stages. "They" say that losing 10% of your weight can make you so much healthier. I am going to try for 10% and then make sure I stay at the weight for a month, then try for another 10%.

Here's wishing us all the best of healthy eating and good physical exercise! :goodvibes
