Shape up before you sail!

Evette & MickeyOCD.....time for you kids to check in on the meet thread! :upsidedow

Jackie I'll check in on the meet thread too, I promise.

Things are moving in the right direction but VERY SLOWLY:guilty: for me. I guess a little weight loss is better than none or a gain. I'm really trying to use the Wii Sports Active more. I'm trying to do a 50 minute workout 6 days a week and burn about 430 calories each workout. I just started doing this much of a workout over the weekend so hopefully it will jump start a better weight loss. Even if I lose some more weight before September it will be hard to notice because I have so much to lose. Ideally I should lose about 130-140 pounds but I would be excited to weigh less than 200 pounds again!

I'm glad everyone is striving toward their goals. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! :cheer2::woohoo::yay:

:flower1:Welcome Lori:flower1:
I'll be getting of the Magic the day you get on. :sail:
I've got a lot of weight to lose but I hope to drop 10-15 pounds still before we go. Good luck on losing your 20!!:goodvibes

Thanks sister! I was very happy to claim my 15 pound clippie!

Peg refers to an out patient procedure I had done...all is well, just tender sitting too long.... :rolleyes1......

:cheer2:WELCOME. :cheer2:There are several of us here who vacate the Magic the day you get on. AND some of our friends on that cruise are doing a back2back, so you will get to play with them! :thumbsup2

Well the nice thing about not giving up is that IT WILL show up - just a matter of time... and when it does you are not ONLY going to feel great about it, but your body will thank you for the toned muscles and a higher burning metabolism!

WELCOME - we are so happy to have you! I bought a pair of jeans at walmart last night in a 10 - just for inspiration to keep going because I can still hopefully hit a 10 or 8 before the cruise!

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies. I have been saying since January I need to loose weight for this cruise and kept putting it off, now I am at crunch time, and I am going to do it. I look forward to getting to you know you as we make this journey.

Hi everyone! it has been a looooong time since I have been on this thread. Sorry that I have been AOL. :guilty: I have lost 20 lbs since the end of Oct, but gained a couple back since we went on vacation to DL in June. Plus, I seem to be in a stand still. We sail on Aug. 16th and I hope to lose 5-6 more lbs before we cruise. I know that isn't too much to lose, but like I said I have been at a stand still and don't know if I can lose those stubborn 5 - 6 pounds. Oh course with all the yummy summer foods--that can make it hard too. :)

I look forward to talking with you all.

Vicki

Are there any type-o's in your message? Are you saying you want to loose 10-15 pounds over the NEXT EIGHTEEN DAYS????

.

no type-o's there... it would be ideal if I could pull it off however, I know that may not be possible. I am very happy with the direction I am going in and I know that I will be at 5 pounds lighter than I am right now. I am happy that I am finally in a single digit size now and in a medium (which for most of my life I have always been).

:wishfifteen:wishsize2

wish I could loose another 10-15 before we sail.
Does anyone have any tips to loose the weight quickly...
I am able to begin excercising again now. :surfweb::worship::confused3:cheer2::grouphug:

:rotfl:
If anyone did, they'd be richer than Bill Gates! :rotfl: I want those tips too. But I've got 100 to lose. :sad1:

GOOD LUCK! It's AWESOME how you and everyone else has been doing!

My DH bought me my OWN Wii console yesterday so I could exercise when the kids were sleeping which seems to be a big issue as the other Wii is in my oldest son's room and it's right next to the toddler's room. SO if they aren't both sleeping (night) then the toddler is napping. Hard to get the time but I love it so he got me my own as an investment in ME. :lovestruc But it's now in my studio and I can use it any time I am free! I can't say if I've lost much of anything, but I feel a lot better about myself and I do enjoy it. sigh

good for you for getting out there and making the effort. My mother has about 150lbs to loose, but she is working hard at it and I know she feels better about herself when she finishes her work outs. Don't give up. I love the WII!!! Have you tried the Hula Hoop part. One day I did everything on the WII, it took 2 hours, but wow! What a work out... now I try and always do at least 40 minutes of it. Weight Watchers has also helped a lot!!! Don't give up!!!

I love my Wii, I have Wii Fit and the new EA Sports Active.

I really think it would benefit me to get back to kickboxing - what a great workout!

I really love the idea of Wii but i already have a ton of tapes and don't really think I'd do the Wii anymore than I do the tapes... which I love when I'm sick of going to the gym - but maybe I would really love it - can someone tell me which is their favorite work-out on Wii?

Thanks!

I have the Wii, including the Wii Fit. I do like Wii Fit especially the Hula Hoop workout on that. It has many good features with a variety of activities such as Strength Training, Yoga, Balance games and some cardio building activities. Since it has the Balance Board it keeps track of your weight and BMI. It tracks those things for you so you can see your progress. I also discovered EA Sports Active Personal Trainer game for the Wii. I have been doing this since June 25th when I bought it. It has preset workouts or you can customize your own which I have done. It tells you how many calories you've burned along with the time you've worked out. I'm very "Pooh Sized" (I should lose about 140 pounds) and I have set my workouts so I burn between 425 to 450 calories during a 52 - 55 minute workout. I especially like some of the sports drills including Tennis, Basketball, Boxing, and Baseball. It comes with a resistance band for upper body exercises which I also use a lot. I have been good about doing the workouts 5 - 6 days a week since I started which is good for me. It has kept my interest and I find I look forward to doing my workout (at least most of the time ) and feel good about myself after I do. If you have any questions just ask. :flower3:

Thank you so much that sounds amazing!!! Way better than a video!

WAY better than video! I haven't even done half of the things on the WiiFit and I haven't tried anything on the disc that came w/ it. I don't have as much time as wish I could to work out. I can put the baby in his crib w/ some toys though and get half an hour in. Sometimes more if hubby is home. My personal faves are the Rhythym Boxing, step aerobics and hula hoops. I break a sweat each and every time, almost right away. I don't get bored which I did very quickly w/ tapes or DVDs and each workout is tailorable to your needs. Very few of the ones I've done yet have options to go for as long as you want. Most of them have been for a relatively short workout time, which IMO helps fight boredom. You can do them again and again, or move onto another exercise if you're so inclined. The biggest plus is I just don't get bored and it's actaully fun which is something I have never said about exercise in my life. There are also a few of the ones I do that you can set to just keep track of you be it on the board or w/ the WiiMote and you can watch TV while you are doing the workout. That has been w/ step and running. I don't do them often but occasionally it's fun. Others can speak to it more than em, but the things I've gotten into I really like! And at the end I treat msyelf to some of the balance games. I love doing the ski jump. ;)

Evette, I feel ya. I'm in your boat. Very pooh sized. :( And I had the gastric by-pass too. :sad1: Didn't work. (LONG story)

I've fleetingly thought of the Gastric By-Pass but I am leary because I have a friend who had it done via laprascope (sp?) but had a leak, she had to be opened up fully a day or so later to repair that and had more complications and had another open surgery after that. She almost died and spent quite a bit of time in the hospital. This was about 5 years ago and she lost a lot of weight but she has gained almost all of it back. I don't think I would do that surgery but I would consider the gastric band procedure. I'll see how this attempt at weight loss goes (I've had many) before I really consider any type of surgery. I hope we are successful in our attempts using the Wii!! :flower3:

I had mine done about 5 years ago as well. My dr then said he didn't like the lap procedure for that reason. I had the whole re-wire RNY. I am not back to the weight I was when I had it. And it's NOT that I eat quantity either. Can't. Physically can't. You just need exercise is all I can think of. My brother had a friend taht died when she bled out internally a week or so after. It's not w/o it's risks. I think I'm still glad I did it because I don't eat anything like I used to and that's a bonus. My cholesterol is good anyway. Good luck!!!!

Those surgeries always scare the crud out of me - but then I understand about desperation and wanting and willing to do almost anything...

Not going on DCL until next year. Would love to lose 60 pounds. Just turned 50 and want to get in better shape and look good on the cruise. Not telling DH, want him to notice on his own. I know this is going to be hard so I am starting out in baby steps. First step is I am giving up soda. I am a mountain dew junky. Wish me luck. :cheer2:

Hi, everyone! I just found this thread. I'm going on a Western on DCL on Sept. 19th! I would like to lose about 10 pounds before then, and I'm working really hard. I am at about 165 now. I got down to 155 at the beginning of the summer, and I was pretty happy there. But went on vacation, sister came in town, yada, yada......anyway, ideally I would love to get to 145. Haven't seen that in about 6 years, though.

I have been working out with comcast on demand, doing the Jillian Michaels "boost metabolism" and the "no more trouble zones". I have also done the 30 day shred workouts. I like the level 2 best. She has really awesome workouts, very challenging. With eating sensibly (I try to stick to 1400 calories per day), I know it will work.

I used to drive to Lifetime fitness, but I wasn't seeing results (I think it had to do with my eating, though, because I was working my hiney off!). I just got tired of herding the kids in the car, driving 20 minutes there and back and not seeing results. So I canceled and just started at home.

I also write down everything I eat. I have read many places that that is the key, and it really is what makes a difference for me, no question.

I just love food, but I really have to have a certain mindset - know what I really want more than good tasting food. I like to feel strong and healthy!

Anyway, I'm glad I found this thread!

Who else has a cruise coming up??

Gretchen

Cruising for Thankgiving and need to loose. Looking for hear how others are doing and how they are doing it.

I've only got 25 days to lose 10 lbs!!!! I'm trying to stay on track but it's really hard. I wish everyone I knew was on a diet, it wouldbe so mch easier if we were all watching what we eat instead of only me. Sometimes I feel like my friends are trying to "sabotage" me. I know they're not doing it "strictly" on purpose, it's just that they aren't on diets. So thanks to you guys I have some moral support.

Man, I need a friendly kick in the butt from all you cruisers out there.

Let me explain my situation: I am overwhelmed with tasks to complete, and it is really hurting my weight loss situation.

For a long time, losing weight was my main focus, #1 priority, and I was doing really well. Now, weight loss is still the most important thing to me, but I have so much stuff to do, it sometimes plays second (or third or fourth) fiddle.

I work 9-10 hours a day, including my 30 minute lunch, during which I try to get the standard daily activities I can done. By the time I get home, I have roughly 4-5 hours........to eat, work out, shower, AND do a ton of other stuff that I have on my To Do List.

a) Go through THREE years worth of newspapers. That's right, three.

b) Go through my TWO years worth of magazines. I usually GET two or three magazines each week, so I am almost fighting a losing battle there.

c) Trying to whittle down my email. I do this at work when I can, and home, again, when I can. I have 8,700 emails to go through, most forwards, but you never know when you will miss something important. The problem is, like the magazines, for every 500 old ones I delete, I get 500 new ones.

d) Organize my music library for my mp3 player. This one is actually cruise related, as I want to make sure my mp3 player is locked and loaded for relaxing on the cruise. I have 1,500 songs to organize, I've been through 200 or so, but still, it is a time consuming process.

The whole thing has me stressed out and exhausted. So, I don't get to work out as often, or as intense as I am used to. It is a double whammy, because, like many of you, I am sure, stress+exhaustion equals gorging on unhealthy foods, for me, mostly sweets.

So, I am not working out as much, AND my food intake is much worse. It is a miracle in itself that I am able to somewhat maintain.

Give me inspiration, people!

Wow! Sounds like you need to declutter and have your computer delete all those forwards automatically! Throw out all those magazines and cancel your subscriptions throw out all the news papers. You have the news on your computer and TV. You could hire a professional organizer and you don't have to watch him or her throw it all out.

I would wake up an hour early every day to get your work out done. Don't do anything else until you get that done... Also, get rid of all those snacks and fill up on good meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't eat past 8PM. Good luck...
