Awww... I love it when people see Donald and think of me. :lovestruc I think that's how it should be. :rotfl2:

I can't wait to hear about your trip... have you posted anything on the Disbou thread yet? I won't get a chance to get over there today, maybe tomorrow.

Question:

I know that I am a really long ways away from our trip.... but the next time some of these clothes that I am washing will come out, is for our trip. So, I am kind of thinking of setting a few things aside.

What do you normally put in your carryons? (besides Marianne - because she puts everything in there... except her Dh's undies. ROFL). The rest of our clothes, I am planning to squish into one checked bag - which we should fit into. I think?

I am thinking... we will wear capris, tshirts with a sweatshirt over the top and flip flops.

Therefore, we will pack... One full change of clothes (shorts, tank tops, tennis shoes, socks and the unmentionables)

One full pair of PJs

One full swimsuit

Toiletries/makeup/hair stuff/medications.

Am I missing anything? :confused3

D~

Oh, and I fogot to mention...

I lost 4.2lbs last week. :whoohoo!

:lmao: C'mon now, you know that's not true!!! I don't pack his toothbrush or a clean t-shirt for him either!!! :rotfl2:

I think your list sounds good - and while I agree with Lisa about your flip flops taking up less room, sneakers are a pain at security.

Just you wait - I'm going to take pictures of our bags when the boys & I fly home next weekend for my cousin's wedding ;)

oh . . .
well . . .
wait a minute . . . I think i found it too :rolleyes1 I really need to join the gym!!!

Ok Marianne... You just shush! :worship: It's not nice to make me jealous now. :rotfl2: So... are you interested in selling? :surfweb:

nope. . . sorry :-) I  my machine! but it would be really cool if you had one too!!!

My mom had an old 401....the second time we had the motor replaced we were told it was on its last legs. The third time we went in to get it repaired/cleaned we were told that there were not enought of the orginal parts in good enought shape to fix it. So we didn't. I still regret it. My DB has it, might see if someone else gives me a better answer....
She used to take in sewing in DC area, and used to say I was on the machine from 2yo...I remeber being 4 and sewing...
Ok, don't yell at me, but I have 12 or 13 sewing machines...everytime some one moves/cleans out/"passes on", I get the fabric and machines around here. I take a lot into the High School theater class...and we eat fabric there. Everything from old mink coats to sheets!
I have 2 Viking Designer 1's, my DS,20yo, stole one for theater costume class, all the girls are jealous, which is part of the reason he did...
I have 2 sergers, one for home, one for school...a pleater machine, 2 old Singer Featherweights, and a much of others.
YES, I do use them...
Sorry I got off topic... I am watching my DN, 9yo, and I had forgotten how much HOMEWORK there is!!! and all the energy kids have! They steal it from us when we sleep, so says DH!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: that's great!!!!

Thank you everyone... it must be the massive amount of working out/walking that I am doing. I just can't wait until my new shoes get here... I ordered them 5 days ago and they still haven't shipped. :surfweb:

ROFL... I dare you to take pics and post them. :rotfl2:

nope. . . sorry :-) I  my machine! but it would be really cool if you had one too!!!

You are such a tease!!! I saw one on Craigslist today, the guy has completely refurbished it for $295... A little steep for my blood. I'd like to get one for under $100 preferable under $50 (yes, I am cheap).

OK - you are a tease too... :rotfl2: No fair - everyone has a 401 except for me!

I've been told that the 401s have all metal parts and if they are well taken care of (which it sounds like yours was), they will last forever. I would definately get a second opinion. Sounds like that shop just wanted you to quit fixing your machine and upgrade = $$ in their pockets.

LOL at your DH's comment - how true is that... I believe it, that's for sure.

I won't yell at you for having all those machines. I don't think I could ever sew on a FW... as beautiful as they are, and for as much as everyone loves them - I think they are just too tiny. Which is kind of ironic - since everything I sew is tiny. But I look at the size of Patience next to a FW - and the FW just looks like a toy. LOL I can't imagine that they are as powerful as they are. That's not saying that if I ever found a great deal on one, I'd pass it up - I'd definately grab it in a hearbeat, and probably love it.

D~

Just a heads up... I am hoping to have outfits #42 and #41 ready for pictures this afternoon... If I can get home from work and spend a few hours in the sewing room. :thumbsup2

I was hoping to have #40 ready too... but alas, I haven't even cut it out yet. :confused3

D~

I haven't checked in on you in a couple of days so I was expecting to see a couple of new outfits posted. Where are they :confused3 Get to work missy!!!!

I embroidered three t's yesterday and one patchwork square. Of course, this was after going to a bolt sale at a really nice fabric store that has oodles of pricey quilting fabric. Half price was still more than I usually like to pay, but I got some fabric that I think I'd like to make myself a skirt with (gasp! -- sew for myself! Unheard of!). And then of course I got lots of other fabric as well just because :rolleyes1

Too bad you don't live around here. Just saw a Singer 401A in a cabinet listed on Craigslist for $100.

Can't wait to see your next designs

Your list looks good but I usually pack a few pairs of unmentionables just in case. I agree with Lisa that you should wear your tennis shoes. I also agree with Marianne that they are a pain at security but I would not want to be barefoot going thru security. I'm figuring that you will be at the airport with plenty of time to spare so you will have time to untie you shoes, find a chair at security after you get through and put them back on. Plus, I'm guessing your girls are old enough to tie their own shoes and help get your "stuff" off the belt.

Oh, and I fogot to mention...

I lost 4.2lbs last week. :whoohoo!

:banana::banana: Just think how much more walking you will be able to do when you get your new shoes.

Just found your thread. I am SOOOO impressed. I haven't read all the way through yet. I saw some of your outfits. INCREDIBLE! And SOOO CUTE! (Sorry for all the caps, but I am super impressed!) And OMGosh how incredible that you restored that sewing machine?! And in your spare time too! (Spare time? What's that? Oh yeah its the time I'm using right now huh?) Anyway, we have a trip coming up in 16 months and my daughter's birthday is coming up in Dec. along with Christmas. I was just wondering if you accept PM's to discuss the purchase of some of your outfits or if they are all already spoken for. Anyway, I can't wait to see the rest of your outfits! It inspires me, but I really don't think I have the energy to learn one more craft. (I scrapbookbook and bake cakes/cupcakes- not really on the same level as your magnificent creations, but waaaaay easier :) )

Too bad you don't live around here. Just saw a Singer 401A in a cabinet listed on Craigslist for $100.

You are going to share that popcorn with the rest of us, aren't you?

ACK!!!! You all are just a bunch of teases. Just wait, one of you might end up shipping me a machine yet - I'll be checking the CL in your areas. :rotfl2:

Ok - one question though... about the shoes.... my feet swell like balloons when I fly - that's why the girls and I always wear flips. In cases like this, do you still recommend tennis shoes on the plane??? :rotfl2:

:banana::banana: Just think how much more walking you will be able to do when you get your new shoes.

I know, I am super excited to get them! I am a little annoyed at Amazon though - it only took them 6 days to ship. I know, I know, I got free super-saver shipping... but still... 6 days???? They will still be delivered in the time frame they promised - but seriously - they'd get here a lot faster if they would get shipped in the first day or two... Grrr... OK - that whole conversation wasn't aimed at you - it was just me talking to myself - as usual.

OK and something else... One of the guys I work with - well today was his last day... and he makes the most fabulous cream cheese bars (NUM) (DOUBLE NUM) - and I am really going to miss him (his bars) a lot - so, today he had to bring a (large) pan of these bars in to share with everyone... the problem is that I couldn't keep my blasted fingers out of them. UGH!!!! Not only that, but he gave out the recipe, and I bought all the ingredients on it... MUST RESIST MAKING THE BARS.... :rolleyes1

OK - still nothing to do with your post.... Hmmmmm???

Yup - I am excited to get my shoes. I might even take pics for you all when I get them. Annnnd - you might get lucky - I may just shave my legs for the occasion. :cool1:

Welcome!!! Thank you so much for your compliments! I am so glad that you like the outfits that I make. :lovestruc I hope you'll stick around and follow my PTR. :cloud9:

OK, so D~ is currently eating lunch (well, sort of, I find it hard to shovel my food into my face at the same time I am typing)... then I am going to enjoy my dessert... Chobani pineapple greek yogert - if you've never tried it - I HIGHLY recommend - tastes just like a Pina-Colada - and I am not kidding. Seriously, every time I take a bite, steel drums start playing my head. :cool1:

Then, when I am done with my lunch/dessert, I am changing out of my work clothes and into my sewing clothes (some of you may refer to them as PJs) and lock myself in my sewing room until I finish this order. It will be done today, and I will post pictures at some point today (I hope Cheryl isn't waiting though). And then I can get on with more fun stuff... like taking the boat out of the lake... brrrr....

D~
