~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
After my long walk yesterday, I've determined I need new shoes for our trip - I have a blister on the bottom of my foot. Ouch... Off to see if I can find any after BTS deals online. :thumbsup2
D~
That's why I just signed up for water aerobics! Last spring one of my friends and I went to the C&O canal several times to walk on the tow path. It was great exercise and we loved all the nature. But then I hurt my knee and we stopped going because it took several months for my knee to heal. Plus, I am a big baby and I don't like walking in the cold or when it is wet outside. Water aerobics is perfect for me! I hope your foot heals quickly and that you were able to find some good shoes. Did you try 6pm? I always get good shoes on there for very good prices!
Good luck with the new shoes D.
I am going back to my walking work outs today. It has been a while
It's raining here today - I am hoping after dinner I can get out for a little walk.
I feel your pain... I have knee issues as well, also my Plantar Fascitis is starting to flare up again.
I hope the water aerobics work out well for you. :thumbsup2
I have never heard of 6pm.
I ended up with a pair of Mizunos... they are supposed to be the best for my issues. I have never had this brand before, and I prefer running shoes. :confused3
OK - off to show my next outfit.
D~
Ursula... I've made her before - so she probably looks familiar. :lovestruc
I've never heard of Mizunos but I hope that they help. I've plantar fascitis before too. That hurts! I hope yours doesn't really flair up! 6pm.com is great! They are the closeout section of zappos.com. They have great prices. Last spring I found a pair of Merrell sandals that I liked but I didn't want to spend $100 for them. I found a pair of Merrells that were nearly the same on 6pm for $30! That is also where I got my girls their North Face jackets (a must for a fashionable middle schooler here!!!) and the prices were about 50% less than most other places. Sorry to go on and on about them but I really like the website.
Ursula looks great! I love how she wraps around to the back! Does these mean that we might expect more villains this week?
Thanks... Sorry, no more villians for a while - this is a customer order that I am trying to finish up. I know what I am doing next - I am just not sure when I am going to get to start them - I have a couple of orders I need to finish up first. :thumbsup2
I :lovestruc 6pm.com !!! Another one that's great is endless.com !!! I think endless is the one that's somehow connected to amazon, but I can never remember!
LOVE Ursula!!! Fabulous!
And congrats on the new shoes! I just bought a pair of the new Reebok slimtone RUN shoes . . . they really are like running on the sand :) awesome!
D~ This is going to be short and I know you understand why! First, THANK YOU for sharing your DH and your story! LOVED it and it brought back a FLOOD of memories of DH being deployed and me in a strange city with a newborn...God bless you and your husband, PLEASE Thank Him (and YOURSELF AS WELL!) for serving for our country and freedom!
Lisa has fallen in love with every one of your creations! You can't make a bad dress! What a huge talent you have! :worship::worship: How very fortunate your girls are!
Familiar but still great! Purple and black are my favorite colors.
Thanks a heap ladies :rolleyes: I already shut down a Zulily page that had cute clothes for ME on it.
Thank you... and thank you everyone for the suggestion of 6pm.com... seriously an awesome site! :thumbsup2 I am going to wait and see how these shoes I ordered fit me, and they have the other ones I was considering for a really awesome price... I might just have to get a second pair - if all goes well. :thumbsup2
Judy - thank you so much for even taking the time to come over to my PTR and type right now.... :lovestruc I will thank my DH for you - however - he is currently cleaning the basment, and under no circumstances am I going to interrupt that. :wizard:
And I just enjoy seeing Lisa's face every time you post a BG... her smile just brightens my day... I am so glad that she likes my outfits. :cloud9: My girls don't really do much with their dolls anymore - they like to see what I create, but to be honest, don't own any of my creations. Of course, we do have my very first creations and protoypes, which I'd never sell - they are just too hillarious. :rotfl2:
Thank you. I totally feel your pain... I loaded my preferences last night on 6pm.com and it gave me 1200 pages to go through... D~ was in shoe heaven! :cloud9:
So, again, my day got all wonky on me... Allison sent a message, saying she needed to be picked up at school at 4, well I got off of work at 2 - didn't make sense for me to come all the way home, just to turn around and go back. So, I went and got my hair cut... My stylist always teases me because I wait so long in between cuts... apparently, they keep track - this time was only 20 weeks... last time was 34 weeks. LOL I need to get on a better hair cut schedule. I am thinking I'll plan another around the holidays and then one more a week or so before WDW... That sounds good... right? :confused3
I plan to hang out in the sewing room after dinner tonight, I am off of work tomorrow and Wed, so I should be able to knock out an outfit or two? :wizard:
Glad I could help you delay your cleaning as long as possible! I'll have to check out endless since I've never heard of that one. Last year 6pm had a sale on 10/10/10 where they had all these great shoes for $10 per pair. I order like 14 pair of shoes that day!
Glad I could help with 6pm! I hope it doesn't end up costing you too much!
I hope you can get some of your sewing done tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday.
Hey, if you want a piece of Ultra suede PM me and I will mail you some. I bought tons to make flowers and stuff for AG dolls a zillion years ago, and I have some bits and pieces. Not sure what is hiding in the frozen tundra of Hades ie...my sewing room. Can't even get into it, had a cast since July and just dumped stuff in the little 8 foot entry hall into the room. I think the stuff/fabric has been breeding, cause I don't remember all the piles. Or the family "helped" in there.
Anyway, I have some & that way you arn't out anything. Not sure of colors...but it has a nice hand. Since it is like very thin suede leather I have used it for a lot of stuff. I have also used some fabric paints to change the texture on it, and that is fun to do. I usually straight stitch around it when I applique, or use a use a feather stitch, or some other type of decorative machine stitch. I think you don't have a machine that does them?
Anyway, would love to spread the gunk, I mean, stuff I have in my stash. And I can suport the US Mail service...
It would also make my DH happy to see something go OUT of the house, in stead of comeing INTO the house. I even stash stuff next door,thank goodness I have a single parent next door that sews!
No, I don't have a machine that does decorative stitches - I am sort of saving for an embroidery machine - but that will be a while yet. I am not sure that I ever want a new machine with all the computerized doo-dads. I do have my eyes on a Singer 401 though, I've heard that the zig-zag on that machine is wonderful. :lovestruc I am still doing my research though, I really want a vintage machine that does a gorgeous satin stitch for my appliques - and I am probably going to have to breat down and do it soon, since dd's machine is not enjoying the applique process. :confused3
I'm catching up! Loving the creations!!! :thumbsup2
Thank you. :lovestruc
I worked on a little something for someone yesterday... turned out pretty cute - if I do say so myself.
I also worked out in the morning and went for an hour long walk in the afternoon. I am really enjoying walking in this fall weather, but I am kind of sad that it will be winter soon and I won't be able to walk outside.
Today, I plan to get started on my last outfit in the large order I have been working on. I am not sure if I will finish today - but I hope to have a good portion done. :thumbsup2
The 401 A definitely does a beautiful satin stitch! ;).
Don't worry. I don't have time to look at photos. Take your time.
Just wanted to let you know I kept hearing your melodic voice saying, "It's okay to cut, it's only fabric," when I worked on my first costume that didn't turn out the greatest. I have to make two the same, one small and one medium. Urgh!
Today I got back on the horse and got fabric -- 3 7/8 yards!!!!!! to make one shirt. I have to make another one, too, so I hope it goes well. (If it doesn't, off to The Costumer for Plan B.)
Give me GA dolls any day. Heck, I'd even make clothing for an AG doll. It's gonna feel real good to get back to "my" size clothing when the film shoot is done.
Ok Marianne... You just shush! :worship: It's not nice to make me jealous now. :rotfl2: So... are you interested in selling? :surfweb:
Oh good... I haven't posted any anyways. :rotfl2:
Rofl... You're too funny. Actually, my voice is very deep and raspy. :rotfl2: I hope the rest of your costumes turn out great - and I hope you'll share pics with us.
Seeeee.... I've reformed you. I can't stand sewing regular sized stuff. :lovestruc
Well, I got a few misc. items finished yesterday - which was nice. Then I had to take a sewing break and clean the house a bit - it's been sorely neglected lately. I have to work all day today, but only a half day tomorrow - so I am hoping to finish up this order tomorrow. Hopefully I can talk V into doing the hair clip for Ursula - I just noticed that we forgot to make one for her.
I won't be able to get any sewing done this weekend. :eek: We have to get the boat and water bikes out of the lake, it's that time of year - and this is actually pretty late to do it. This project will easily take up the entire weekend. However, I still feel like I am ahead of the game. :lovestruc
I think it is safe to say you are ahead of the game...you have a lake, you have a boat, you have water bikes.... yup ahead of the game! LOL
(after you are finished you can come and close down the pool for me! We haven't swam in over a month, but hubby thinks we might still need it open...um no! I have lots of other stuff to spend the money on!)
