~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
I think I'm a few outfits behind in commenting, but amazing, amazing, amazing. I really like the Mickey wear for Megan.
Glad you caught dinner when you were ice fishing. It's been YEARS since I've had fish off the hook.
I just got a PM from Andrea telling me to stop writing, so you could stop reading and get back to sewing.
:upsidedow Me <----- who always obeys
Hi Cheryl... I am so glad you had a few spare moments to check out my PTR. :lovestruc
That was very nice of Andrea to help me along.
Unfortunately, we had to throw all the fish back... We love to eat fish - but we didn't have enough time to clean them and fry them up. :(
you more than deserve the title.....we can never have enough aunties in our world :goodvibes
Awwww.... Now I want one.... ROFL. A FGA, that is.
Ya'll crack me up ...Thank you! :goodvibes
LOVED Megans' outfit, you are so talented! (Are you sick of me saying it yet)??? I definitely mean it! :flower3:
Thank you Judy... Now that I am home, I need to check in on everyone's PTRs... I also need to catch up on the Disboutique thread - that will probably take me hours. :surfweb:
I have to work today... such a bummer. I hope to get into my sewing room this afternoon... time to crack that whip. :thumbsup2 I didn't get scheduled much next week - so I will have pleanty of time to sew. :wizard:
look what Megan got today from our sweet D~
I love it! That's too cute!
D~ is still brrrr freezin' at the lake. We managed to get the wet bikes out yesterday, and Josh was a wonderful man, he took us fishing last night. Our last hoorah in the boat before we pull it today. A got a nice northern, i'll try to post a pic when we get home. All of us caught fish, except for Josh, he is always so busy being our guide (baiting hooks and taking our catches off) that he barely gets to have his line in the water.
Anyways, we have to pull the boat out this morning, and head for home after lunch.
D~
My DD12 would be so jealous! She loves fishing but DH won't eat fish and won't take her fishing. I know nothing about fishing so I am no help! My father in law takes her fishing in the lake behind their house when we are in Florida but she can't keep anything from their lake. Because it is a small community lake (more like a pond) we've been told not to eat the fish because of fertilizers and pesticides. But she catches some pretty big fish from it. She really wants to go out fishing on a "real" boat and cook what she catches.
I can't wait to see pictures of what you caught. Also, can't wait to see the new outfits that you dreamed up while you were at the lake!
Oh I sent you a PM did I? If I did it would be to tell you to get back to work on your plunger embellishing.
Once again, Cheryl is being delusional. Don't tell her I said that though -- she doesn't appear to realize how bad her dementia really is and I hate to be the one to break it to her.
If my dh is too lazy to clean fish he will freeze it and clean it later. We catch way more than we can eat and since the hurricane there is nothing biting -- think the salt water may have entered the lakes and depopulated the catfish :confused3 We ate some fish last week that were previously frozen and to me it was just as tasty as having it fresh.
I'm sorry you have to work. I only worked one day this month and am only scheduled for two days next month. Gives me time to sew but no $$ to buy more fabric.
I have been sewing this morning but I would like to say I win the award for being the slowest sewer there is. I am half way done with a project that I thought would be done by now :sad2:
Just came down for my slimfast break -- I decided to do 5 days of slimfast for breakfast and lunch, fruit only for snacks and a normal dinner. So far I am not happy this decision. I am craving a chicken quesidilla with salsa and guacamole. Best go sew so I stay away from the kitchen.
Wow, more great outfits! I like the way you use prints, it adds so much to the appliques, and I like that you have a few prints in the same pattern/different colorways.
So I haven't forgot to send you the stuff...except I am going to add a few other bits and pieces. Feel free to use/share/ toss any thing you can't use. It is big-ish scraps of stuff I have used in making costumes-Disney ones, of course. NOT cottons...and a bit of shiny stuff....Just a little 'sumpin,'sumpin to dig into when you hit that wall and you think you need a little excitement to comeup with some thing new...not that it looks like you are ever gonna hit that wall!
Will get stuff in the mail asap- some is in my storage unit. And DH stole my car! His was totalled last nite, he is fine...I heard it happen, and thought...humm, that car locked their breaks, wow what a big impact, bet that was DH. Yep, it was, less then a mile away. We now know how small you can fold a Camry hybrid trunk into. About 1/2...At least he won't do a 12 day today. But I need my car so I can send you stuff so you can play with it and amaze us all some more. It's all 'bout the sewing..(since he is fine...)
I need to go back to my protein shakes for breakfast.
I love fish if someone else is cooking it.
I am a slow sewer too Andrea.
I will talk to dd, and see if she can pull her fishy pictures off of her phone. Stupid me, left the SD card plugged into the computer, so I get to the lake, pull out the camera to take a picture and it displayed "no memory"... Grrr... So, we thought we'd outsmart the fish, and say really loud that "we don't have a camera", then they'd just jump in our boat... not so much. But dd did have her phone with, and we used that to take a pic of her nice catch, so I will see if she can upload it for me. :)
I'd offer my dh to take your dd fishing, but I hear enough grumbling as it is, that he never gets to put his line in the water. Secretly, I think he thoroughly enjoys having 3 girls begging him to bait their hooks... it's a man thing. :confused3
I am so glad you finally brought this up. I was starting to worry that maybe it was me... And I sure didn't want to say anything, in case it was. :confused3 So relieved to hear that it's Cheryl. :thumbsup2
I have a freezer full of frozen fish, but I won't let DH deep fry in the house... can't stand the gross smell afterwards. So the freezer stays pretty full.
I feel your pain. I only got scheduled 3 days over the next 2 weeks (today was day 1)... I fully anticipate being able to knock off a bunch of outfits. I am a bit concerned that I underestimated my initial numbers, so I may need to make more than I originally thought. :eek:
I have been sewing this morning but I would like to say I win the award for being the slowest sewer there is. I am half way done with a project that I thought would be done by now :sad2:
You can have the award for "The Slowest Sewer" (pronounced sew-er, not seeewer - LOL)... but I will take the award for "The Biggest Procrastinator"... Should we give Cheryl the award for "Most Delusional" or should we hold off? Since it might just make matters worse.
ACK!!! Can't do Slim Fast.... But the chicken quesidilla with Guac.... NUMMMOOOOO!!!! I'll order a double, thank you very much.
Speaking of which, my shoes should be delivered tomorrow. I've decided to wear them in the house all day... I hope I like them, and I hope they don't hurt me feet.
Wow, more great outfits! I like the way you use prints, it adds so much to the appliques, and I like that you have a few prints in the same pattern/different colorways.
Thanks - I've learned everything I know from the Disboutiquers... I just do it in a smaller scale. :thumbsup2
I am very curious to see what you are sending me... I am very anxious to see the ultry suede.
Oh no... I am so glad that your DH is OK. How horrible about the car... I hope you are able to get a new one soon.
I need to go back to my protein shakes for breakfast.
OK Chiara... you are soooo NOT a slow seamstress... I saw you knockin' out all those outfits for your trip a few weeks ago, and they were awesome outfits... every day you were posting one or two new ones.... I think maybe you should get the "Fastest Seamstress" award. Or "Fastest Sewer" if you prefer. :rotfl2:
D~ is hungry... trying not to think about food. Spaghetti for dinner tonight - at least it's planned, that's half the battle.
D~
Here's the Northern that Alli caught this weekend... Josh guesses it was about 20" long.
And she is just like her mom... she'll pose for a picture with a fish - but touch it, no way! LOL
D~ those outfits were only finished because I started freaking out. Thankfully for December I only have one completely new outfit for the girl.
LOL Chiara... Well, you did awesome!
OK - so I am so excited! I just made the prototype outfit for my next series I am starting tomorrow - and I am really happy with how it turned out. The girls even approve! :)
Now... To applique, or not applique... that is the question...
Nope - I think that might be me . . . slowest sewer that is . . .
Hmm- maybe I need to go back to Slimfast or Ensure . . . I KNOW I need to cut out a good 3/4 of my carb intake :rolleyes1
I think I could give you a run for your money on that "Biggest Procrastinator" - have you SEEN my PTR??? Yup . . . lots of pretty fabrics, not a lot of making them into CLOTHES :rolleyes1
Can't wait to see what's next!!!
D I am so excited to see your next series. I need to do more birthday and Christmas shopping. I do not really have the patience for doll clothes.
I can't wait to see the results. Are you going to do an applique? What did you decide?
Question...
I need some input on my next series... I can't tell you what it is yet - but I am sure you'll guess when I post my first picture. :thumbsup2
I need to know how you feel about appliques. This series, I can do with or with out them. I am leaning towards adding the appliques, otherwise I think the outfits will be a bit lacking... :confused3 I just want some opinions. :wizard:
D~
I think it depends on what the series is...yes, I know, I am so helpful.:rotfl:
Man, I hate waiting for your creations but I'll try not to nag you. :surfweb:
Here is my answer but I don't think it will help. First off, I love all your outfits and each is special in its own way. I think if you can get the message across with out using an applique then it is great. For example, your Toy Story collection is wonderful because you "know" its Jessie with out having a picture / applique of Jessie on it. The same goes for your Fab 5collection. You used the details of the buttons, hat, colors to get across the message that it was Goofy. I think that says alot about your creativity. That being said, I also LOVE your appliques - you get so much detail and expression in your embroidery/applique. From your Pluto Feliz to your Ursala dress, everything is amazing. Like I said - I'm no help but I don't think you NEED appliques in your creations. Can you make the first set with out appliques and then when you make them again (since I know you will get lots of requests for more) could you add the appliques if you wanted?
I think that's a good idea. Do one set with appliques and one set without. You can cut and sew both at the same time so it will be like getting a two for one deal! But in the end the details will make the outfits different.
OK... everyone's ideas make a lot of sense... I really like the idea of doing two at once.
Babynala (I am really bad at first names) - thank you for putting so much time and thought into your reply... You have some very valid points - which brought me to this:
So, at the last minute, I changed my train of thought, and decided not to use the pattern I drafted last night. I want to save that one for the sets I do with the appliques - which I might do at the same time. I am trying this first outfit with a purchased pattern to see if it comes across the way I want it to. If it works out, I will do one set of this series with out appliques and one set with the pattern I drafted with appliques.
Do any of my ramblings make sense? :rotfl2:
D~ <--- back to the sewing room...
I can't wait to see what you come up with! love the idea of doing two set's with and without!
I know... You've all been waiting forever for me to post #40. I am not going to tell you who it is, but I am hoping it will be obvious. :lovestruc
