~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

I am very excited to post this bag!

I've been planning to make these bags for BFF and Olivia since we started planning the trip, but time after time, they were pushed to the back burner so I could get other stuff. I am sure BFF was starting to wonder if I was ever going to finish? LOL

I put a lot of thought into Olivia's bag, just because I know she is a teen ager like my girls and wouldn't carry just anything. The only direction she gave me was "Tigger"... OKay...

I decided to do a black bag for two reasons... First off - Olivia's favorite color is black. ::yes:: Secondly, I love how Tigger would pop off of the black surface and really make a statement. I quilted the bag with purple thread and used the purple fabric for accents, because that's her second favorite color. And lastly - I put Tigger upside-down, because, well - I like doing Tigger that way, it fits his personality. :thumbsup2 I also love the interior fabric of this bag - it's very Tigger-esque to me, with out being Winnie the Pooh fabric. Overall - I am super excited about how this bag turned out! I cannot wait for her to come home from summer camp to see it for herself.

It's going to be OK... Your Dad will be happy as anything in the train! Then he gets to see you!

anything you need just let me know! WOW a nice relaxing weekend! good for you! Sorry they are really foreign to me and i have no idea what that is... Had to google this Relax word... :rotfl:

I am overly excited you have your car along with having AIR CONDITIONING!!! :thumbsup2

Little dance for you... :yay: :cool1:

Man, I get behind so quickly by taking the weekends off from the Disboards!! LOVE the Ohana bag! I love the style of it, so easy and comfy...yet, it will hold lots of stuff! :thumbsup2

Smoked meat! :cloud9: I have been having Brian smoke lots of meat on Saturdays, and I use it to make meals all week. LOVE this, makes meals a whole lot easier after working all day, and it is great for the budget too! :goodvibes

The Tigger bag is so cute! :tigger: Can't wait to find out Olivia's reaction to it! popcorn::

Love Olivia's Tigger bag! The purple thread and interior fabric are perfect!

You are going to need some pixie dust to pack all of that into that little bag! :wizard:

I will say lots of prayers for you and your dad. I hope he will enjoy the train ride home!

Have a great day!

Packing pictures just for me? I have faith that you'll get everything in - you always do. I know that we would never be able to fly - just too much stuff gets added at the last minute. Unless we became independently wealthy and could get APs and possibly DVC. Then we'd just hop on the plane with the clothes on our back! :rotfl2:

Love the Tigger bag, but then again I'm partial to purple and black myself.

Prayers for 'Dad's' safe trip home (which I'm sure it will be) and a good recovery for him as well - vacations are exhausting!!

HEY! you posted that tigger bag after i posted already!!!! :lmao: Thankfully i came back!! I LOVE HIM!!

Yes he just BOUNCES off the black!!! Love him!!!

:tigger:

I adore the Tigger bag. it is stunning.

I am a bit tired today too.

Prayers for safe travels for your dad.

What an awesome Tigger bag, love it! If she doesn't like it, I'll take it off your hands!

I hope your dad has a nice relaxing ride home! I took a train from FL to Connecticut one time, it was a blast!

You are getting so close to your trip, once again I'm missing you by a few weeks, school starts next Monday, so work is super busy! Actually I might get a Mo sighting on my trip!

Glad to know Victoria is feeling better. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of you!

YEAH for lazy days!

Isn’t that the way it always works, you actually get to go to bed early but then you wake up in the middle of the night? It’s no fair – all you’re asking for is a little extra sleep!

It does sound like a crazy week! Ugh! 4:45 in the morning??? I think that’s illegal! Good vibes for a safe journey for your dad!

ADORABLE Tigger bag! I love the dark background. You’re right – Tigger does “pop”. I'm sure Olivia will love it!

School started today for DD. I already miss her but I’m sure glad I’ll start having time to get something done around the house and hopefully get some sewing done!

I hope so - he boards the train today and I am sooooo nervous!

Me too! So happy it's still working... A bit annoyed that all it was all this time was a recharge, but I am trying not to think about that.

D,the Tigger bag is awesome, one of my favorites for sure! I'm sure Olivia will love it!!

Thanks!! I am very happy about it! I love how it turned out!

No worries! I try not to post anything too interesting on the weekends. LOL

Thanks! I am very happy with the 'Ohana bag - V did a great job on it!

LOL I adore smoked meat! LOVE it! Josh did that this week too - and I love it, it's so nice to not have to worry about meals!

Hahaha... We'll see... I may end up taking a bigger carry-on! Hahaha...

Oh yah - when I become independently wealthy - that's the FIRST thing I am buying. LOL

Thanks! And thanks... I am so worried - I hope it goes OK for him.

Thank you! I am very happy with how it turned out!

I adore the Tigger bag. it is stunning.

I am a bit tired today too.

Prayers for safe travels for your dad.

Thanks Chiara... I am so nervous! I am mostly nervous because he is unsteady on his feet and I am afraid for him walking around on the train with the constant rocking motion... Sigh. It will be OK.

What an awesome Tigger bag, love it! If she doesn't like it, I'll take it off your hands!

Hahaha... I'll keep you in mind Stephanie!

Thanks! I hope he likes it.

So sad... One of these days we will get to meet. ::yes:: Hahaha... Mo sightings are much more fun than D~ sightings.

Tigger bag is awesome!!

Prayers for a safe travel for your Dad!

THanks so much! For both. :lovestruc

Slowly she is feeling better- still a little yuck hanging on...

Yup - LOL - try so hard to get to bed early, then you can't sleep. :confused3

Yes - I cannot beleive how early his train comes in. Thankfully it's a small depot - but it's in a really crappy area of town... Not looking forward to that part - hopefully all of the crazies are in bed that morning.

I hope she had a great first day at scholl! And hopefully you were able to get everything done that you wanted to do. :thumbsup2

**********************************************************

Wow!!! I made a huge dent in BFF's bag yesterday - I was super happy with that! I had it all cut out and ready to quilt, so once I came home from dropping Alli off at work, I just started quilting my little heart out. And then I was done! WHOOT!

Then, since I had her applique all ready to go from last week - I was able to go straight to stitching it out. :woohoo: By the time I went to pick Alli up from work - I only had one color left to stitch! Whoo-hoo!

So, I came home and stitched that last color out - and BAM! I am almost done with her bag! I just have all of my assembly work to do - so one more good day on it and all of the bags for our trip are finished! Woohoo!

Kind of sad though...

Remember my Magic Band that I worked so hard on?

20140729_071023.jpg

Well, I took it out to look at it again last night, because remember - it was starting to crack... Well, it was cracking awful and peeling up the dots with it. I was so sad! I loved those dots! I tried to only take off the ones that were cracking, but sadly - then the others started to bubble, it was a huge mess. So, I took all of them off.

I think, the problem was the clear coat sealer I used to seal it - I really think the person at Joann's sold me the wrong stuff, and I am not happy about it. Oh well...

This is what I used... DO NOT use this stuff... I think I would have been OK if I would have used 1 coat... but I used a bazillion coats and it just wasn't pretty. I wish I would have taken a picture of the cracking - but I didn't.

20140812_062050.jpg

I still might get ambitious and do my dots again - but just at the top by the Mickey head? We'll see...

Instead... I whipped this little puppy up last night. It took me less than 15 minutes to make - super simple. It's not the prettiest thing out there, but it's allowed me to have my "dots" with out repainting the whole band. I am a little worried that it might be hot to wear - but I don't think it will be any worse than having that plastic against my arm? And if I don't like it when we are there, I can just take it off. I might make a few more, if anyone else in our travel party wants one.

20140812_062008.jpg

You can see in the glare of the above pictures, the "damage" to my MB from taking the sealer off. I had to use acetone polish remover, and it left my MB a little streaky. You can only see it if the light hits it just right - but for someone like me - it's super annoying. I may put a few of the dots on again for just that reason - to cover it up a little bit. Sigh.

And then, V painted her's too... I didn't think she was going to, but I am glad she did. It turned out cute!

20140812_062029.jpg

I am getting very anxious to show you all V's bag... Sadly - I am waiting for one more item to come from Jenny - and it's EPIC! So, I am trying to stall at posting her bag until that comes. Let me tell you... It puts my bags to shame! I cannot wait to share! Hopefully tomorrow... ::yes::

Today is a Target day for me... So, I won't be in my sewing room at all.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Sending out prayers and good thoughts to all of you! :grouphug:

D~

I love the MB holder you made! I wish I had one of those during our last trip in July since the plastic was making my wrist so sweaty.

The Tiger bag is adorable. When will Olivia get to see it?

I used that brand of Rustoleum on my faded plastic flower pots. It worked great on those. I'm sorry that it ruined your MBs, though.

I like your new fabric MB holder. That is a good idea.

Victoria's MB looks great. It proves the old adage that "less is more". :)

I love your Magic Band Cuff. I might need to do something like that because mine makes me sweat.

Have fun at Target.

Our Magic Bands came in yesterday. I think I am going to leave them plain for this trip, unless I come across the princess temporary tatoos that I know are somewhere in my house :) I don't have the time or the patience to paint them. I love the fabric cover you made for yours, it looks great! V's band turned out great too! I am really looking forward to meeting you! I'm going to send you a message on Facebook right now with my number, so I don't forget again.

Hope Target goes well today.

Saying more prayers for you and your dad and his safe trip home!

I have a clear calendar today so I am hoping to finish up on a couple of things my boss wants by tomorrow and also get caught up on my almost 400 emails!

I read on the MB thread your supposed to use a nail polish base coat on the top and bottom before you paint... Not a sealer or modpodge because they crackle.. Hope that will help if you decide to pain agian...

I am still sitting here starting at mine...
