Sorry that you had to deal with the jerk at the dealership. Wonder if he treats everyone like that or just women? Unfortunately, those people are everywhere.
Glad to hear you are ahead of schedule! I really need to get crackin' tomorrow on our costumes. And I still have a couple of shirts to finish, as well as a couple of things for me.
I am not sure if it was a "woman" think or a "warranty" thing? Regardless - I am still rather annoyed by it.
Yes, I love that I am FINALLY ahead of schedule! It feels so nice!
Oh D- I feel for you. My sister is having a very similar problem with the chrysler dealer ship.
We had no leaks in our system this year but it needed a full service. I honestly don't bring my cars back to the dealer because I have a valued mechanic I would rather pay.
I find the service of car dealership employees to be horrendous.
Love the Ohana bag.
That is awful to hear... Here I was thinking it was a "Ford" issue... Sad to hear that this is a normal thing it seems.
I don't normally use the dealer either - but we thought this was warranty work. Had we known it wasn't, we would have gone to our new mechanic - who we really like.
Thanks!
Car dealers suck. Almost every time DH brings his jeep to the dealer, I'm shocked by the price. Except the last time when everything was covered.
The Ohana bag looks great.
Yah - the price is usually awful too.
Thanks!
FINALLY!!!! and i must say I AM IN LOVE with your ohana bag!!!!! IN LOVE!!! Please tell V i think she did a fantastic job!!! Love the colors Love the style! Love it all!!!!!
Can't wait to see if your car is fixed.
I will, for sure! I love the fabrics too - it's a fun bag!
I have another (smaller) car update below.
I love the Ohana bag and the white on white fabric. I've used white on white fabric in quilts and it adds a very rich look to it.
As far as the car goes - I find it extremely disturbing that it took a man, Josh, to get things done properly. I came of age during the height of the women 's lib movement and that kind of thing, treating men differently than women , gets me very angry. Car dealerships are notorious for that. When I bought my car two years ago I wanted everything in my name instead of my husbands. I was using all of my own money to buy it and it should have been a simple request. Well, in spite of my repeated request to have it I my name the car still ended up in my husband's name. And don't get me started on warranties that don't cover anything.
I hope it all works out.
Yes - I love the white on white too. It's a lot of fun!
Yah - I agree - it did bother me that Josh could march in there and take care of it. But on the flip side - I am lucky to have a DH who has the balls to do it, there are some men out there who wouldn't... Then on the flip side of that - I am lucky I have a DH at all... BFF would have had to stand her ground alone, and I sometimes find that hard to do... Since (believe it or not) - in certain cases, I am rather shy.
Yah - I am a little annoyed by the warranty. We have yet to have anything go wrong with my car, so no need to use it. Knock on wood...
Love, love the fabric on the O'hana bag! Victoria did a great job!
Just have to say your dad is so cute in all the pictures, looks like he is having a great time!
I'm thinking the guy at the dealership should be lucky he wasn't strung up by man bits under the truck after the way he treated you! There is no reason for anyone to have that kind of attitude when working in a customer service position. So sorry for your terrible experience, would definitely find a different dealership.
Thanks! I love it too!
Thanks! I am so glad he is having a good time.
Hehehe.... Yah - he wasn't a very nice guy at all. We are running out of dealerships, sadly. The next closest Ford dealership is 30 miles in the other direction. Sigh. Won't go back to the one we tried to buy an Edge from, because we had horrible service there. Won't go back to the one Josh bought his truck from - because it still had the ORIGINAL spark plugs in it when we replaced them a few weeks ago... If you can't even properly tune up a used vehicle before you sell it... And now this dealership. We are Ford people - but, we are running out of local dealers.
So excited to finally see the completed Ohana bag! It is great. Definitely says 'Ohana/Polynesian to me.
I am so sorry for your problems at the car dealership. I hate dealing with them so I make DH handle all car issues 95% of the time.
You are making such great progress on all your custom work for your trip! V is a smart girl, I'd try to get an extra bag if it looked like you were going to have free time too! You so deserve a day off to relax and enjoy all of the hard prep work you have put into this trip and your bags. I hope you'll be able to do that for yourself
Thanks! I am super excited to carry it!
I know... And i just had a feeling this wasn't going to go well either. Sigh.
Hehehe... She is such a turd... I just knew she would do that to me too.
Don't even get me started on car dealerships. After my recent experience, I'd rather pull my fingernails out than deal with them again. Thank goodness I have a wonderful mechanic that I trust. Btw I finally got my car issues resolved. Car is finally registered in my name and I got a check for the cost of the key.
Love the Ohana bag! V did a great job!
LOL... I think I am in your boat. Glad to hear you finally had yours resolved - what a mess that was! We do have a great mechanic now, it's just that we couldn't use him for this because it was supposed to be warranty work (which it wasn't, so we could have gone to him... Oh well).
Thanks! I think so too!
Boo to mean car dealership guys!!
But yay to Ohana bag!!! And to finishing MORE stuff ahead is schedule!! Whoop!
LOL
I know - so relieved!
Wow. Rough day at the car dealership. I always wonder how some people can keep their jobs and be so mean. I would be passive aggressive. Write out a "fake" letter to the owner of the dealership detailing what a jerk this guy was and that he should be fired. Then crumple it up and "forget" to clean out the car.
I love the Ohana bag. I am sure most of the population would not notice any issures with it.
I hope your day is better.
Have you heard anything from your Dad? He is on the train now right?
Hahaha Shannon... I'd just mail the letter.
Thanks! I am sure no one will, we were able to hide it pretty well.
It went much better, thanks!
He boards the train on Tuesday. Yesterday they drove up to Cooley(sp?) Dam... Both of my cousins are engineers there... So they are visiting and touring that area for the weekend.
That whole dealership thing is why we won't deal with traditional dealerships. The only time I go is to get the recalls done. (I own a GM and they really haven't had the best track record lately ) And in my family, it's my FIL who we sic on - er get to handle difficult people.
Wow - the cursed bag looks fabulous and you'll be able to say to people "My Daughter made it for me - that one, over there, with the incredible short autograph skirt." Just kidding, V - excellent job there and you (D~) really will get to be the proud mom!
Oooh - packing pictures. Does that mean we'll get to see the incredible before pile/after suitcase pics? I'm still in awe over last year's.
Hope your dad is still having fun!
Yah... We won't be dealing with them again, unless we have to.
Thanks! Exactly... ROFLMAO - I love your humor. I WILL say that too, just for you!
I took packing pictures this morning just for you too. I will post them below. It's bad... Really, really bad.
He is, thanks for asking.
I have a love/hate relationship with white on white fabric.
I love the texture it gives everything, but I hate to sew on it. In order to get the white pattern to show up they use something ...not fabric ink to make the white print...almost like a plastic coating. If using a quilt machine you get little specks of white stuff all over the place...inside the machine....it is really dangerous to the machine. And it makes little white specks show up all over the quilt.
I love the way it looks when finished! I love the extra texture! SO I use it all the time!
I will not get started about dealerships! Let's just say I have walked away from more than one 'deal' because of the way I was treated...their loss...
Nini
Yes, I know exactly what you mean, it's almost as if the flowers are painted on. It's weird, but I do like the look of it. And I am very happy how it turned out.
Oh D, I am truly sorry for the way you were treated. Nobody deserves to be treated that way but especially a good person such as you. That guy should be fired for the way he treated you. That is just bad business! Thank goodness Josh was able to step in and make things somewhat “right”. (Although it pi**es me off that in this day and age, that jerk would only deal decently with a “man” instead of a “woman”.) I hope they fix it IMMEDIATELY – (and fix it correctly!) and if there are any charges to you, they should cover them to make up for what they did to you. If I lived in the same state as you, I would NEVER buy a car from that dealership. Actually, even though I don’t live in the same state, I STILL won’t buy a car from that dealership!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the fabric on the ‘Ohana bag! Victoria did an amazing job! (She’s following in her mother’s footsteps!)
I hope your day goes much better today and I hope you get your car back soon!
Hahaha... I appreciate your support. And I agree - I am not sure if he treatedme like that because I am a woman or if it's because I was using an aftermarket warranty (which they sold us)? Either way, I am happy that Josh was able to go in there and straighten things out.
Thanks - me too! I love it! It was so fun to do that project with her.
It did - thanks!
Hi D~ - Long time lurker here and I fell way behind on your PTR. Love all the bags so far and here is to getting everything done before your trip? How do you do your auctions? I clearly missed out on the one earlier this summer but for any upcoming ones I would be interested.
Also, wanted to mention that I am from the Washington DC area. If you ever need help planning a trip out this way let me know. I am actually a native, have lived here my whole life! Also, I think you might have mentioned at one point of combining DC with Williamsburg?? Well, my parents retired to Williamsburg several years ago, so I know that area pretty well too!
Anyway, have fun on your upcoming trip!
Hi - welcome back!!! Thank you... I usually do all of my auctions on my Facebook fanpage. You can message me for the link to that. I will try to rememeber to PM you the link when I am done here - but I tend to forget after all this typing. LOL
I will let you know... I know I talked about going out there a few years ago, but it kind of was put on the back burner. I am not sure if we will make it out there before the girls go to college - I am hoping to though, and I will let you know if we do. Thanks so much for the offer.
The only car dealership I never had problems with was the Saturn Dealership and they are no more. I will not go to the Chevy one in town. It was never able to fix any of our cars. There was a recall on my daughter's Saturn that they supposedly fixed. They didn't and when she drive it to Disney last year it started acting up again. She traded it in for a Jeep when she got home.
My nephew is a mechanic and we take all our cars to the place he works at for everything. We get a family discount too.
All three bags are cute. I am always surprised at how much you get done in one day.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Liz
So sad that so many dealerships are like this. They used to be the "best" place to go. When I was just out of high school and I bought my very first brand new car - it was a Buick (I would LOVE to drive a Buick again) - they had the BEST service department anywhere, and they always took good care of me. I wish it was still like that.
Thankfully - we do have a good mechanic now, so we will take our cars to him for all of our non-warranty work.
Thanks... Yah - I just keep on keepin' on, and I manage to get a lot done soemtimes. LOL
I hope you have a great weekend Liz!
**********************************************************
So, yesterday I worked...
I managed to completely finish Olivia's bag by 11:30am!

Just a little over 24 hours on that bag, I think that's a record! I am thrilled that's it's done and even more thrilled with how it turned out.
Car stuff ahead - skip if you'd like:
So, I hadn't heard a peep from the dealership by noon yesterday. Which I thought was strange... I figured that either they came in yesterday morning to a puddle under it and they were trying to fix it? Or maybe there was nothing and they were just continuing to test it out?
I decided to give them a call... When I talked to the service manager, it kind of seemed to me like they'd forgotten about it. So, he said he would take it out for one more text drive and double check it. I asked him to call me back with a total, so I didn't faint with shock when I walked in there.
An hour later, he called me back. Said my Edge was holding all of the A/C freon and no leaks anywhere. He advised me to come pick it up - drive it for a few weeks, and if my air stopped working to bring it in and they would run all of the diagnostics on it again free of charge. He also told me, that if my A/C stops working any time over the next 2 months (pretty much through the remainder of the A/C season up here) to bring it in, and if they discover it's a part covered by my warranty - they will apply what we paid this time to that work and reimburse us the remainder. Which I thought was nice of them.
Anyways - since this was not a warranty repair... It was an A/C evacuation and recharge, my total was $133. Waaaay less than I thought it was going to be, considering all of the diagnostics they were doing on it and how long they had it. I figured our bill would be in the high hundreds/thousands. Not complaining though.
So, I have my car back. It blows nice COLD air. We can acuatlly hold a conversation in our car - rather then driving everywhere with the windows down. Let's pray there are no leaks and I am done with this mess.
And... There was no sign of the guy from the day previous. I drove in there and they were all nice as pie. The service manage did NOT inspect the rental car at all - like the other guy said "there would be a thorough inspection when you return"... But they were all very, very nice to me - maybe too nice, but they should be after the day before
After that- I took Alli to Target, so she could sign up for her shiny new Target Debit card, so she can earn her additional 5% off of her purchases too.
Then I came home and started working on a side project for a friend. It was a quick project, which I finished last night.
I did nothing last night. I made the excecutive decision to take the weekend off - the whole weekend. I am far enough ahead on our trip stuff - I just need some time off.
Today is BFF's birthday party... It should be lots of fun.
The girls and I are going to take my Edge (with air conditioning...

) across town to the mall to do a little bit of shopping. Nothing major and nothing for the trip...
Then to BFF's afterwards.
So, Ruth asked for packing pictures... I went upstairs this morning to take some, just for her. Last year, she was amazed that I fit it all in there... Yah - I'll be amazed if it all fits this year too. LOL
This is the "pile" - sorry it's kind of dark...
All of that has to get into here...
Clockwise from the top left corner...
You can see all of our ear headbands... I still plan to put them into something to stabilize them better, I just haven't found the right sized box yet. I will search at work this week.
All of my clothes - so far... I still have to add all of my denim shorts to this pile and a few other clothing items. I find it funny that ALL of my clothes fit into one nice pile now. It's nice.
Then there's a PILE of socks for all 3 of us... They will get divided out between all of our suitcases. And all 3 of us will use the cube organizers from Nini for our socks/underthings. So, this space will likely get some left over room in it... Which will be filled with shoes.
Then there's my PJ pile...
Finally, inside the box is all of our other PPB headbands, flip-flop bling and just any other extra things that we need to contain.
Once I am totally packed, I usually lay all of my bags on top, so they don't get wrinkled in transit. I also usually put them in a big Target bag, just in case anything explodes in there.
So, yah... Wish me luck!
I don't think I have anything else to post today. I am going to hold off on posting the remainder of our trip bags until next week. Gotta keep ya all coming back, right? LOL
I hope all of you have a marvelous weekend! Prayers and good thoughts to all of you!
D~
