Seriously JetBlue?

...... A family of four couldn't seat together for whatever reason. The 2 adj seats were taken by the mother and young toddler daughter. The son and the father was assigned on 2 different rows back to back--1 window seat and another aisle seat on the opposite side. The seats were relatively close but couldn't see each other. The boy was probably 4 or 5 and he was scared. The father asked the woman who sat next the the boy to change seat, very nice and polite. The woman and said to him "you can trust me with him". Her 2 friends were sitting behind her and were quite surprise as well. By change her aisle seat to the father's aisle seat, she would be on the same row as her friends. I couldn't believe it. So, I exchanged seat with the boy. I didn't get to sit with my husband, but it was ok. During the entire flight, I was having conversations with my sister who sat on the opposite aisle seat with that woman between us. Yup, I was quite mean.

I'll say. What did being so nasty accomplish? You sure showed that woman, who was under no obligation to switch seats and may have had a very good reason for not wanting to move. Did you try and humiliate the rest of the passengers as well, all of whom could have volunteered to move? What is wrong with people?

seriously. Isn't the at fault party the parents for accepting seats on a flight where they knew getting on the plane they couldn't sit together or at least have a kid with a parent? If I can't select seats that meet my needs, I don't take the flight, especially with my children.

No--I didn't humiliate the rest of the passengers and I didn't confront or humiliate that woman either. Her seat was in front of her friends, by changing the seat, she would seat next to her friend. Yes. I do understand she under no obligation to switch seat. I volunteer myself because I didn't want to see a kid being upset or scared. Most children would not feel safe with a stranger. I don't know the reason for that family to select the flight, but I did have an experience with missing a stop over and my party of 10 had to be on 4 separate flights to come back to NY. Waiting on standby is not fun even for adults, nevertheless with young children.

In this world, there is many things we don't have to do under obligation. I felt bad for the kid and I was upset. I didn't really have a continuous conversation over 2 hours--but I did talk more than I normally would. Sorry to that woman, hope my Disney talk didn't bother you too much--I did give you the entire arm rest after our skin to skin. Also, thank you so much for giving me the insight of monitoring available seating chart as well as prices when booking flight.

Must be my PMS---sorry.

Please keep in mind that sometimes you might end up being separated even though you selected seats in advance. There can be an equipment swap where the seating changes. You can have your flight be cancelled and placed on a later flight where you have to take what seats are left. It's not always a traveler's fault.

Just adding it also isn't a families fault if they don't book on their own. We booked an entire package through Disney one time including flights. When we got our flight information we were not next to each other. We met a family on our flight who had the same problem. That is when we decided we would book our own flights for everything going forward and just buy the insurance.

Or you simply say, I'm sorry, that is simply not going to work for me. I need to be seat near my young child. You do not simply have to take what seats are available. You can take another flight. When DH's seat was taken because the two people next to him were too large for their seats so made it physically impossible for him to sit, they offered us seat scattered about the next plane. With two small children we said no because this was their fault (they saw the people coming on the plane and knew they couldn't fit in their assigned seats) and the other couple's fault for not buying an extra seat. They magically got us 3 seats in one row and another seat a few rows ahead.
We also check our seat periodically prior to the flight happening. The one time we had equipment change, we were able to move ourselves to new seats together.
BTW not once did we raise our voice or get rude. We simply stated that their solution was not acceptable and what else could they do.

Did you not call the travel agent or airline when you received the travel documents? You could have taken care of it in advance.

It was through Disney. The airline said they couldn't change our seats because it was fully booked at Disney said they don't choose seats just flights.

Southwest April fares came out today. They want $4000 for my family of 5 to fly from Hartford to Orlando. LOL

Yeeeeah, that's a NO.

Then again, fares are always super high when they release them. I'd wait a month or two before checking again.

It's interesting that Southwest does not have their "wanna get away" prices shown for most northeast airports yet....

Mr. X I was monitoring the sale this morning on line with a friend who was purchasing tickets. I do believe they were listed, and they are all sold out.

Mr. X-I am so frustrated as well. Also trying to fly from Hartford to Orlando-with 5 of us! These prices are outrageous. I think we are going to have to drive, and that will not be good. I'm still hopeful that the "wanna get away" price will pop back up....

Nope they are def sold out. I called last night and confirmed. I was able to find flights out of Newark NJ to Orlando for a total of $900 round trip (5 of us). On Southwest They may add more departures and if so I can transfer my fares back to Hartford w/o a fee. but at least I've got tickets at this point for a very "reasonable" price.

Compared to $4000? I'd say you got away with murder.

Don't apologize MomforFrozenAddicts, you did/said nothing wrong.

lost*in*cyberspace, maybe you should take your own advice...replying with that snarky comment.. What is wrong with people? What is wrong with you? Everyone has their own circumstances, but there was a small child involved. Why wouldn't you swap seats when asked nicely?
