My rate for a midsize dropped again today with Alamo. Using the Visa code and the visa $30 off coupon my rate for 9/11-9/18 midsize is now $159 with taxes and fees.

Interesting my dates went up $20. I'm glad I booked it when I did.

Just checked my National reservation for September and it dropped almost $20 since yesterday when I checked Used the Emerald Aisle code and the $25 coupon on the site! YEAH!!!!

Ok, so what is Emerald Aisle again? I've tried to look for a good explanation on their site but I can't get a clear vision of what it is.

You get to bypass the rental counter at the airport and go right out to the Emerald Aisle. You pay for a mid sized car, but you can choose any car that is there. In the past there have been SUV's and even Minivans. But you are guaranteed at least a mid sized.

Ok, I see. If you reserve a mid-size but your a emerald aisle club member you can select any vehicle in that row (even if it be a SUV or Mini-van) for the price of the full-size car?

Yes, you can choose any car that is there and you pay for the mid sized price you had when you reserved the car. We got an awesome SUV one year.

Thanks! my rate also dropped another $20. I'm paying $147 for a full size/Exec Aisle. I'm using the $25 coupon. (I was going to use the $30 coupon but saw it was for Entertainment book members -- which I'm not). Maybe National will release another $40 one soon to it's members. I also used the code 5007160.

My rate is now lower as one of disboard friends posted the $40 coupon. This is normally the one that members get, but it works now. It is ND1881JDK.

My total is now $130.03 for a full size/exec. aisle rental (total). Using the same code of 5007160 (but 5007125 works the same too). So while the rate has not dropped, but coupon savings is now higher for you National rentals. This does not work for anyone picking up in October (yet).

Thank you for this thread! I just reserved with National and joined the emerald club (because I saw it here). With coupon I used I reserved a compact for Sept 17-24 for $142. I'll have to keep playing with this and get it lower. I was getting worried wondering when i would see the prices drop for renting. Now I have a pretty good starting point and wouldn't be upset if this was my final price.

with emerald aisle you will get a mid size on the aisle when you book using your membership ID, the cost will or should be similar to what you already have ... with compact

booking a compact with EC sort of defeats the mid size car aspect, unless that is the car size you want.....mid size would be 150 compared to your 142 for compact


wow ....just checked a midsize reservation without logging into my Emerald Club and it comes back at 400$....so it does pay to belong to the "Club"

nevermind, I found it on another site...its the continental airlines frequent flyer club ID. I dont have this but I used 5007125 which is the EA code and it gave me the same rate quote.

Yes continental -- it's free to sign up for the FF club and they give you a card to show if needed. I also use the 5007125 too, but sometimes the Con.FF discount will take more off -- not this time.

Using Costco contract ID 7014627 and coupon AD8Z59SDZ.

You must be a member of Costco and show membership card at time of rental.

Thank you for the tip. I changed the coupon and upgraded to a midsize to get E Aisle. Now it costs $145. Another reason this site and the folks on here are great!

I'm thinking car rental for September should start to get exciting soon....but for now the best I can do is $243 for 12 day, midsize, pick up MCO/drop off TPA. I'd be happy to share how I did that if anyone's interested, but if you've done better, could you share that too????

I'm having problems getting good rate because we are only staying:
Monday 9am- pick up
Thursday 5pm- drop off

We don't have a Saturday night keep and we don't have 5 day minimum.

Any suggestions anyone?? Can anyone help? rate is coming up $153. midsize.
