That is too funny! I got a sewing machine around Christmas- I've been making pillowcase dresses for my girls and their American Girl dolls...its nothing fancy...but it is fun! Have you seen the disboutique thread on here? They make some really nice stuff!

gotta ask - what are pillowcase dresses? My mom gave me her sewing machine and I've been working on a couple of things but really a beginner - want to work on some things for my daughter and her friend for the trip...

I think it looks simple. The only part I don't get is gathering the waist and thats probably cause I have NEVER sewn anything..:rotfl: But I think it looks easy so if you have used a sewing machine before U are a step ahead of me:lmao:

wow Michelle, you have your hands full the next 5 1/2 months... :cool1: lol... love the twirl skirt... gotta find a pattern up here for that too... the girls will LOVE that...

Here are instructions...

They are really easy! I picked up a pattern at JoAnn's when they had their $1 sale because I wanted to make sure I had the sizing right. :)

I make lists of my lists :rotfl: I have a list of listed items. Like I will list on the master list "makeup" and then have a list of makeup to pack. Then I'll list "Danimal's clothes" and have a separate list for that. It's a sickness

:dance3::dance3:DITTO:dance3::dance3:

I am a list person too. In my real life I am not organized at all but my disney side has lists, packs early, researches... if only everything in life was this fun I might have a little more motivation ;)

I got my patterns at youcanmakethis.com I know they are cheaper at JS's sometimes but I can reuse and save the downloaded pattern to a USB and re-use and re-use.

Speaking of lists...Well I am so anal, that I package the girls outfits in those LARGE ziplock clothing bags and pack them by day. Even their undies, pants, socks, etc. I like to know where everything is together and don't like digging through luggage.:confused3

Yeah I only buy patterns when they're on sale for $1! YCMT is a great site-lots of great stuff!

I packed last year in ziplock bags too! The outfits were planned by who we would be meeting that day at which park, etc. And I wrote on the bag..and put in the matching hair clip, etc. My husband thought I had lost it. It really helped with packing though because you could squeeze all of the air out! :thumbsup2

I'm a big list person as well! In everyday life as well as Disney. My son was just making fun of my list sitting on my computer desk with my school work assignments and exams and which nights I'm studying what things. I told him if he'd be more organized, he'd probably get better grades! (He's a sophomore....typical high school boy, lol) He'd lose his head if it wasn't attached to his neck!

For our trips I place each of Mikella's custom outfits in it's own plastic garmet bag, and then place all of them in a suitcase garmet bag. All bows/jewelry are wrapped carefully and put in a large shoe box. Since she has MANY different shoes/sandals for different outfits, I buy a plastic over-the-door hanging shoe organizer so I can keep them all off the floor in the room. I put mine in there too, but usually I only have one or two pairs!

Well since we are seeing who's more nuts(our DH's thoughts..LOL) When we cruise or stay at WDW, I bring a pop up hamper for our dirties...I have a pop up square for the kids to put their shoes in so they are organized. An over the door shoe organizer to put sunglasses, sunscreen, head pieces, etc. I too label each bag the day it is to be worn. When we cruise the kids after 3...7 nt'ers know which drawer is always theirs and where their stuff is. I think they will be confused the first day of our Fantasy cruise next yr..:rotfl:

I am getting so excited about this sewing things that I am mad that for example on MK day I am making a minnie mouse inspired top, I will have a different outfit for them to change into at 4pm for MNSSHP, however I also have Crystal Palace for lunch and want a themed outfit for that, though I think my girls would kill be for 3 outfit changes in a day:lmao: DD(7) might like it but DD(11) who will just humor me with some of my designs would refuse 3 changes. I am making their MNSSHP skirts like Mikella's ruffle skirt. I think my DD(11) will be ok with it cause I think it kinda looks tweenie enough for her. That skirt works for all ages...well but my age:rotfl2:

Several list people... include me in that... maybe that is WHY we love the DIS!!

Oh, count me in on the list game. My pretrip is flooded with my to-do list.. and that doesn't even include packing, yet. :lmao:

It totally makes me cringe when I walk past someone else's room at the resort or cabin on the cruise and see clothes thrown EVERYWHERE!! I don't know how they can find anything or know what's clean or dirty! lol. Those cruise ship cabins are so small for a family of 4....you have to stay organized or you're falling all over everything! (Besides the fact that I'm just OCD anyways. :rotfl2:) I've heard people talk about the pop up hampers before....and we have one for Mikella's stuffed animals in her room, but I haven't taken one with us in the past. Maybe I'll try that this time too......it's just that her customs go right back onto the hangers and into their plastic garmet bags right away.....but I suppose I have clothes too. popcorn:: (The popcorn smiley is cuz I AM sitting here eating popcorn right now.) ;)

And Mikella hates changing outfits more than once a day at home, but when we go on vacation she doesn't mind at all......because it usually means something "fun" like meeting characters or ADR's. You just have to think of a creative way to bring them with you into the parks.....if you aren't bringing a stroller....cram them into a backpack. : )

I love the shoe holder on back of door idea - I actually use one at home in the bathroom to put miscellaneous stuff - we received it as a wedding gift and its lasted a long time - well 12 yrs this august to be exact... lol... the popup hamper is genius too... have to remember that for sure... we have a few around here... we made a big move a few years ago - New Brunswick to Calgary - basically like Maine to Montana - and I packed outfits for her in large baggies - was awesome - so easy to find matching sets... think i'll do that again this time because we also are bringing one of her best friends with us and the girls are similar sizes...

there are 3 girls and each but mine will love the idea of switching outfits - mine is a tomboy with occasional flares of being a girly girl... lol... but with the other two there, I am hoping she'll access her inner princess  she adores Rapunzel though so I am trying to focus on that - when I make the pillowcase dresses I think I will do a purple & pink one for Kelly (Rapunzel), purple & teal for Dela (Ariel) and light green & purple for Lila (Tinkerbelle)... hoping I can find the thick ribbon to add to the bottom of each dress... just trying to come up with something for the boys to make... one loves Buzz Lightyear and the other Lightning McQueen...

Are you thinking of using Disney fabric for your pillowcase dresses(or tops--I am doing tops instead cause they are older and then just making them a little longer and putting leggins shorts with them. I can't kiddie it up toooo much for the 11 yr old. Gotta Tween it with my Disney flair:rotfl:) We have a cute Rapunzel fabric at Joanne's. Not to sound stupid but Canada has a JoaAnn's rt? I also have seen Ariel and Tink too...adorable ones. and then u could trim it out with a cute polka dot to match. Ok sorry now I am trying to draw you into my sewing fest...:rotfl2:

no drawing here... lol... was already in my brain - just hadn't figured out what to do yet... lol... had thought about the tops too for a couple of them...

no we don't have a Joannes here in our part of Canada - not sure if bigger cities like Toronto or Montreal would... we do have Fabricville though so should be able to get material there plus my mom's does tons of sewing so she might have some material too... or I just have an excuse for a weekend trip to Bangor. ME... :)

yeh - mines only 8 and gotta pretween it for her... lol... thinking sequined ribbon at bottom or you might try silver or clear ribbon... just adding Justin Bieber to it would be enough to get her to wear it but he's not disney lol...

oooohhh - the sequined ribbon would work for Hollywood Studios though... lol...
