September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

Oh this is a tough one, as so many of the earlier female characters are entwined in the helpless damsel in distress always looking for her prince to rescue her....sexism anyone? And the body type issues., why is Belle the thinnest princess and then you have Lilo's sister finally showing some womanly waist line and bottom. And of course there is the racism of the early years...but now we have Pochantas, Mulan, Lilo, and lastly Tiana.

It should be interesting the different ways one interpretes this assignment and differing opinions.

Amy heres one not sure if this is what you are looking for exactly:

Belle - strengths - intelligent, book smart which Disney portrays as making her different, being strange, weird, unlike everyone else in the movie. They also have all the other women swooning over what's his name..lol..the big dumb hunter guy...and him being interested in Belle but only for her beauty. I like that Belle is strong enough in herself that she sees she has more to offer and receive than just being a baby maker and house keeper.

Thank you very much!! I didn't think about Lilo's sister either! I knew you girls would come up with some good ones! :flower3:

Holy cow it seems like I know I have a lot to do, and yet not much is getting done LOL I got Tangled shirts for the girls for MK day (does anyone know if they make Flynn shirts???)

I still need to make 'must do' lists for each part but I do believe I have our budget figured out..... I have about $300 per day for us to spend, which should be plenty.....

My mom will be here next week, so I think after that I'm really going to get down to planning b/c I will have a 'free' month till June 20 :D

Everyones pics are SO CUTE!!! I really need to figure out an easy way to post pics here LOL

$300 per day:scared1: Dang let me come with you:rotfl: I figure everything is paid for, I will take snacks because I refuse after the 1 snack credit is gone buying a 50 cent snack for $6..nope nope not gonna do it.:sad2: I figure we will probably spend $500 total. I don't let my kids get useles junk. 1 stuffie if any per girl, maybe earings, purse, or something I know we will have for a long time. Everyone gets an ornament , I get the MNSSHP special something, I get a kitchen something, and maybe some useful things. but I am willing to come spend with u..:rotfl2:

Wow, am I behind!

Thank you all for the prayers for my father in law. He passed away a week ago, its not been easy, but he was suffering at the end. Now I have to go catch up on all the Disney planning to keep my mind busy now that all the extended family has gone home.

Just got home from the cruise around midnight. It feels so great to be home, however going from 85 to 40 sucks! The cruise was awesome, except on the first night DS tripped and manage to hit his head perfectly on the corner of the bathroom and closet. He looked exactly like scar from the lion king for our whole trip. :confused3 It was terrible, and I was really upset after it happened, it was really scary to be honest because he had an indention on his eyebrow, almost like his broke the bone. I dont know how to explain BUT the trip improved greatly after that little event! The islands were beautiful, as was the ship but their was very little for DS to do so we spent most nights sitting out on the balcony while he slept. I dont think another cruise will be in our future for some time unless it is Disney or NCL since they are more 'family friendly'. I left the trip even more excited for Disney bc DH had been bugging me to try out other vacations with DS and after this experience we are happy to say Disney will be our vacation of choice for awhile to come. We dont like being in our hotel room during vacation, and this trip we really had no other choice. Cant wait for September now!!

O I'm so sorry JBMOM :(

O and Forthelove.... even if I only get my kiddos one thing per day with four of them that adds up quick ;) Plus my DH wants to drink around the world LOL and then theres the BBB, and I'm thinking about a Harmony barbershop stop for the youngest...... and Pick a Pearl and Build a Lightsaber and probably two bins of Potato parts ;) LOL O and the silhouettes I want of them....... See how fast it adds up?? LOL :rotfl:

I'm sorry for your loss. One of the things I hate most about getting older is that parents & grandparents suddenly, out of the blue I swear!, are so much older.. :sad1:
I love the shoe holder on back of door idea

The shoe holder, power strip, collapseable drawers, and a laundry bag were the best tips I received for keeping our resort room organized! :thumbsup2

It certainly does add up! For us, I want a pearl (gave my son mine as I lost his while packing to go home); at least 2 large containers of lego plus a couple of the christmas sets; popcorn buckets - especially Mickey's Ghost; a loaf of alligator bread; henna tattoo. And then stuff my kids, parents, and our cat sitter :) And then there's US and WWoHP, neither of which we have been to before... :rolleyes1

Hey, remember those t-shirt links I posted a week ago or so? I did them today!!

Right now they are being cold water washed in the laundry. Once they are dry, I'll take photos and post them!

I do think I'll have to redo my daughter's shirt. Her shirt was first and I was hesitatent about how long to leave the bleach on the shirt. I don't think I left it on long enough. So I left the bleach on for 10 minutes on my son's shirt and I think it turned out really well.

Looking forward to seeing how they turned out! :surfweb:

The wash finished! I couldn't wait until they dried, so I just laid them out on the table to take photos. :lmao:

My son's shirt did turn out great! Looks better in person than the photo:

Now my daughter's was a different pattern. I was using the "spiral mickey mouse head - freehand" for her shirt. As I suspected, I didn't leave the bleach on long enough. In fact, I don't believe the spiral MMH even shows up in the photo.

When it dries, tomorrow I'll re-trace with the bleach pen and leave it on for 10 minutes. I'll show another pic of it tomorrow - hopefully a good one!

BTW, these were the same brand & same material shirts. Just two different colors.

If I squint I can see your daughter's Mickey...I think it will look great when you re-do it!!! :thumbsup2

And your son's shirt looks great! Good job!!!! :cool1:
