I believe I am the smartest one of you all, based on the fact that I refuse to substitute teach. Okay, I have done it a few times for Head Start but since I did not get paid it does not count.
I have one family of small boys that demand all of my attention and have no self control in my reading group. Being older than you all I have come up with something that works pretty well. They want and demand attention so I give it to them. I ask them to be my assistants and help me teach the class. I have never had it to fail. Of course, I do work with younger students. I used to get frustrated with the one or two who slow down the learning of the others too. I have one Down's child who comes into the reading room occasionally and I view that as a learning experience for the other students to learn patience and how to love.
Teaching in a private school is a whole lot different than a public one though.
Ang, I have several students who like to try me on for size and see if they know something I do not. They seldom do and when they DO, I just bull excrement them into thinking I do know. Worked with my teachers when I was younger too.
I had doctor's appointments yesterday and was too worn out to compute when I got home. More appointments today. My heart doctor called me twice yesterday. Not a good sign. This might not be as easy as I had hoped.
Thank you all for being here and letting me expel my thoughts.
Love, SG
