Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

You shouldn't need a full-on winter jacket, but I'd think a light jacket would probably be a good idea. I'm trying to think back to when I was in school and what kind of stuff I wore on the first day back in Sept. I think it was long sleeves and jeans mostly, with a light jacket for outside. Of course, it could be cooler on board as we will be in ocean waters along the coast, and not inland where I live.

Not sure how warm it will get as we get further south. Does anyone think it will be shorts weather, or should we stick to long pants?

When we get closer to sailing time, I was going to call my SIL who lives in Murrietta and ask her how the weather is. When I lived in San Diego, I remember September as being hot unless the Santa Ana winds were blowing. I plan to bring two pairs of jeans and two pairs of capris and just switch back and forth. It is easier to bring lots of shirts and change before the evening. One can always sent things out to be cleaned and we found that was easier when we were on our 14 day WBTA.

Our weather in San Diego (120 miles from San Pedro and 80 miles from Ensenada) is the hottest in July, August and September. The average temperature is in the 70's but can go higher. I would plan on bringing shorts... I find that cargo pants with legs that zip off are an excellent compromise and that's probably what I'll bring.

Great idea about the zip off pants! Two pairs in one, saves on the packing space!

This is what I am thinking of doing for my husband so he can wear his beloved shorts during the day then have his legs covered at dinner as to not offend people in the dining room :)

If your sister doesn't answer, then you can just ask me....because I live in Murrieta too. It's such a small world. :grouphug: Another think to consider is just checking weather.com and looking for the 10 day forecast. I'll be looking up Seattle, Vancouver and Victoria to get a good idea for each day that we are there. Things here in Murrieta can be much warmer than Anaheim during the day and then we cool down to about the same in the evenings.:goodvibes

I love these small worlds!!! I will actually be staying with my SIL a few days after our two days in Disneyland since I am not working but the other three are. Just cannot wait!!

Is he one of those people that can't grasp the concept of winter? ;) Here in San Diego, the temperature will go down into the 50's or 40's in the winter and you'll see people all bundled up in jackets, gloves and beanie hats but they are still wearing shorts and flip-flops...

I've seen Oregonians in flip flops and shorts when there's snow on the ground. :sad2: But then again, I laugh because everything...and I mean everything...shuts down if an inch of snow falls. I'm originally from NY...14 inches of snow and no one blinked!

When I moved to L.A. back in (cough, cough) I was laughed at daily because I would be walking around in a short-sleeved shirt in January. Hey, I moved from MINNESOTA; it was fricken HOT in L.A. at 52!!!!!

We are now in Mexico - I will say that 32 degrees ANYWHERE is cold. The temps for this past winter were NOT in the guide books!!!! I completely understand winter ANYWHERE!!!

San Diego is like that when it rains... You really don't want to venture out onto the freeways in SD when it's raining. :scared1:

This is exactly my husband. He grew up in the prairies of Canada where there was 8 feet of snow from September to April, when there as was no snow it was considered summer. Now we live in Vancouver where there is NO snow (maybe a day or two which freaks everyone out) so I think he may still slightly confused but thats ok :)

hi there,

just to add my two cents on the clothing issues
I think a light jacket is a must.

it could be rainy and cooler in vancouver in september or it could be sunny and clear.

my friend and I are from seattle. I guess it aways pays to be prepared.

wow, time is starting to fly ...
we'll all be on the wonder before we know it!! :)

I keep dating myself but I remember the day it snowed in San Diego!! We even had pictures in our yearbook. Hubby was at boot camp getting the necessary shots so it didn't bother him at all coming from Annville, Pa!!

I don't remember that as I was stationed in Long Beach for training prior to heading over to Vietnam...

Anyone else starting to think about their wardrobe? I expect Vancouver and Victoria may be a little cool with things warming up as we head south. I love strolling the promenade in the evenings and wondering whether a sweater will be enough or if I'll need/want a jacket.

I've been planning my wardrobe for a while since I only bring a carry-on. I'm using my previous cruise experience to plan this out but I agree that things will warm up as we head south. I think a sweater will be enough plus if you need any additional warm clothing I believe we will get big discount on the DCL Alaska clothing.

I would love to be able to fit all our things into carry on luggage only!
I'll have to do a "test" pack and see if it will work for us with the kids things. We will be packing enough for the 5 days on the ship and also 5 days at Disneyland (of course planning to do laundry a couple times too).

A tip I read, probably on the Dis boards, lol, was if you are traveling with others, is to pack some of each persons belongings in each bag, so that if one of your bags gets lost or held up each person will at least have a couple of things in the bag that makes it, rather than one person losing all their luggage.

I don't how much we're going to pack in the way of clothing, but I KNOW we're going to have one whole suitcase just for the FE stuff... I know it's going to be kinda like this: :laundy:
