Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

We finally got our hotel for post cruise 3 day Disneyland stay. Holiday Inn Anaheim Resort and it is on the ART shuttle route.:cool1:

Who else is doing Disneyland after the cruise and how many days?

Only a couple transportation legs left to book:

Shuttle from Port to Holiday Inn (SuperShuttle)
Shuttle to Airport after Disneyland (Airport Bus)
Amtrak Portland to Eugene

Tim and Kathy

We will be spending the day went get into LA, 3 full days and the morning we leave at Disneyland, plus one day in between we will be going to Knott's Berry Farm too.

We have transportation from Port to hotel (Carousel Inn) reserved already through SoCaLimo. We will be using www.graylineanaheim.com for our trip to Knott's and for our transfer from hotel to Airport, but won't be booking those until closer to the date.

That sounds really neat Jennifer. I can't wait to see it.

I hope all the FE people will show us non participants all the booty so we can ooh and aah! ( and be seriously envious! ;) )

We're doing Disneyland after the cruise but going to NorCal first since we scheduled our DVC villa with friends when DH's boss was refusing to give him the week of this cruise off.
Now that he is able to come on the cruise we ended up with a week post-cruise to relax since the villa and more importantly, our friends' vacation time was not reschedule-able ... but the upside is we're getting to spend 8 nights on-site, 9 days in the park! (Even better is that 5 of those will be child-free!) We'll be arriving in Disneyland about the time it seems most people on this cruise are going home, from Thursday September 29-October 7. Longest Disneyland stay for us ever - hopefully will get to see all the different Star Tours combinations if we ride it 1-2x a day!
Getting excited its so close ... my girlfriends are starting to text more as we nail down our dining plans & coordinate costume choices for the parks!

Starting to notice how close a lot of our rooms are to each other numerically. Wonder if that's since many booked around the same time?
Lol, you are not crazy. A new poster wanted to join a couple of weeks ago with five cabins but then she changed her mind. Our core list remains the same with me just editing cabin numbers as cruisers make changes. I doubt anyone else joins in August but you never know. Is our cruise sold out yet?
Gotta say I'm relieved that the FE List is down to a manageable size. Our pirate and Halloween costumes just arrived, and between that and the FE gifts one suitcase is already full! I was thinking about dropping out of the FE exchange just because we couldn't fit any more in our luggage if it had stayed that large. :sad1: As is, I think we'll be carrying some reusable grocery bags onto the ship to free up room in the suitcase ...

We are going to stay until the 30th at the Anabella, just behind the Grand Californian. We have three day DL passes and are trying to figure out what to the other time. We did San Diego the last time we were there, may try and get to Knotts Berry Farm or something. We were going to head to the Grove shopping centre to take Kate to the American Girl store (a 3 floor doll store, that sounds like Mecca for 7 year old girls) but they just opened one north of Seattle so that makes life easier :)

Still haven't booked transportation from the port to the hotel, not exactly sure of what port/pier to tell them to go to.

If I get off the ship there it'll be just to check out the port market stalls...Not planning on venturing very far at all.

Still, doubt that DCL would change ports at this late date.
Well we have the horseback riding on the beach booked & will be fine i'm sure...but a day in SD or Cat Isl would have been just sooo much better.....

Same for us. If we get off it will just be in order to purchase something to say we were in Mexico, lol.
I wish they had some more kid friendly excursions. (and no I don't want to go to some pool party when we can swim in the pool on the ship for free!)

Would have loved a beach excursion! And DH and I have always wanted to Zipline!
a zipline would be great - i'm thinking about that for the Mex Riv or next Oct on the Eastern....???

Jen - your pathtags sound very cool!!! i need to get in gear on those FE gifts soon - at least i have a couple of ideas...also we will be at the Pan Pac Sun & Mon nts...altho not arriving till midnight or so on Sunday. Don't know if you had seen the earlier post about having a "mini Dis Meet" Monday night for "Happy Hour"...hoping that many will be able to make it there for that....

We are getting off the ship - going to LAX to get a car - driving to DL & spending most of the day there then driving the 5 hours home..probably leave DL around 4ish....

We are doing the Princess Cruise Sunday night to get to Vancouver and staying at Pan Pacific Monday night. A mini Dis Meet sounds great, I totally missed that post.

You may need one less reusable bag as you may get one in your FE :rolleyes1

I hotwired a hotel in downtown Vancouver and got the Sheraton Wall Center for $154 USD. (including taxes)...I felt I could live with that. I wanted the Pan Pacific too but couldn't find it for under $250

Were you able to get it started after you hotwired it?

A stop in Avalon would have been great! I haven't been there in more than 30 years. The last time I was there I went on a Navy frigate that actually tied up to the pier. We had a problem upon departure because the intakes for our condensers became clogged with kelp. We were able to blow it out and proceed on our way.

If the shipped stopped here, we would have just gone home. We live five miles from the San Diego cruise ship terminal...

Less than two months!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I need a clean place to sleep the Monday before we sail. Help!!! I had wanted to stay at the Pan Pacific, but it really makes no sense to stay at a 4 star hotel for showers and a fitful sleep.:eek: We will be sightseeing all day Monday, then dinner, then just hit the clean sheets and be too excited about getting on the Wonder the next day to sleep.:laughing::laughing:

So, where can we lay our sleepy heads in Vancouver that won't break the bank, yet won't have us waking up covered in bedbugs......:scared1::scared1:

pirate: Ewwww - scratch, scratch, you got me reading Cruise Critic and of course they talk about Bed Bugs on planes, trains, hotels and cruise ships. Other than sleeping in the bath tub there is a possibility - we just need to be aware. And the bed bug detector dog.:hippie:

ditto...as first time Disney cruisers, I didn't want to overwhelm us.

Wondering how tipping works onboard DC.

I would assume that there would be an automatic tip added to the bill at the end of the cruise.

What would the appropriate amounts be for places like the "kids clubs" :yay: and should tipping be considered for the characters like dear Mickey and my personal favorite ::MinnieMo.

towards the end of the cruise you will receive a "recommended" tip sheet and envelopes for your stateroom host, server, asst server, Head server (seems like i'm missing one other) - you have the option to charge the tips to your final bill or place cash in the envelopes. I usually charge the 'recommended' tips to my bill & for great service i will add addl cash in the envelopes. We have had some FABULOUS servers & SR hosts in the past.... and them some that were just okay...

Crystal....(or anyone who remembers)...what page of the thread is the link to the artwork?? I cannot remember

MissJ,
thanks for the info on what a pathtag is. I liked your story.
sounds like a thoughtful and fun gift.

Hi
missJ,
did you say you were going to be traveling from seattle to vancouver on the sapphire princess?

I know there have been others mention it too.

anyone interested in a PRE-disney WONDER meet on the Sapphire Princess?

There is a standard tipping amount for the head server, server, assistant server and stateroom host. You can prepay them, or on the last night you will get a form where you can adjust the amounts (either up or down) based on service. Then there are the extras like the porter (both at embarkation and debarkation), room service server, bartenders (drinks you pay for already come with an automatic tip, but you can tip more if you choose).
As for the kids club counselors, they are not a tipped position, but many people do bring them tips or candies, etc. When the counselors receive tips, they must turn them in and they are all pooled and any money is used for parties for them, and any gifts are raffled off I believe. So I would keep that in mind if you think you are giving a certain counselor a tip, it may not actually be going to them directly. (If you really want a certain person to get the tip/candy/gift, I would talk to their supervisor and see if it would be allowed so that its not put in the pool).
And the characters are not normally tipped, and as far as I know, I don't think they are allowed to accept tips...

I hope I didn't miss anything.
