Let me introduce the traveling Ivanna Cruz!

IMGP1115.jpg

Ivanna likes to have fun, so I trust you'll give her a good time!! ;-)

After the cruise, you can email me the pictures, post them on FB, our group flickr site, or on DISboards.

I hope you play along!
THANK YOU!!!

Can't wait to see these pictures!!!! :rotfl2:

LOL! CustardTart, it's that CUSHION I'm trying to get rid of!!!:lmao:

:rotfl: I see what you mean!!! :teeth:  I guess I was thinking of a little extra weight loss to OFFSET the cruise damage!!! ;)

Yep, I upgraded - DH decided he wanted to wear his costume so I caved in.

Arrrrrrr and a Fine Wench Ye shall be....... Har Har Har......... Yo Ho Yo Ho ....... Good News Hair came today......

I just reached my pre-cruise goal weight!!!!! Mind you, I'm no skinny Minnie, but I feel so much better!!!! I have another week to lose a couple more, too!!!! Hu-freaking-rrah!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

:woohoo::yay::yay::woohoo: Congrats!

I just got a Villians dress!!!!:yay:

That's so exciting, Abby!!! I cannot wait to see it!! BTW, it's great to see you posting! :cool1:

Is it okay if I wear a villain dress that is really just a fancy Halloween costume?

Oh heck ya!

...Ooooh, I'll play!!! :goodvibes
Can't wait to see these pictures!!!! :rotfl2:

Oh goodie! I'm really excited about seeing the adventures of Ivanna! If I have time, I'm going to make a traveling Ivanna twin so she can spread twice the joy. :rotfl2:

OK, so I admit I'm a little late checking in, but 10000s of posts can be a little intimidating :P The excitement of being less than 2 weeks out has overcome it though :rotfl:

Never too late to share your excitement! Welcome!!

....Personally I'm not too bothered about the actual restaurant, as long as I am eating with friends.:yay: Having said that Parrot Cay is my least favourite and I am always cold there, but I won't be caring. I will have to eat there some nights anyway.

:thumbsup2 I'm with you. In the scheme of things, it's really not important to me. It's more important that I get some cookie dough ice cream and swim in the adult pool for the first time than where I eat! :rotfl:

....As to the change....several of us just could not believe that they would be doing formal night on a port day, just based on previous experience. How would we have time to get all our mentionables tightened up? :rotfl:

:lmao: I know!!! I was wondering that, too! I am very happy there will be no formal night on a port day!

The reason I've been posting so much today is I'm home from work. I have broncitis. Happy, happy, joy, joy. But better this week than next.:cool1::cool1:....

No doubt! I'm glad you're getting it out of the way. I know FIRST HAND that it S*CKS to have bronchitis while you're cruising. Having no energy and simply feeling miserable all over just stinks!

FEEL BETTER SOON!!

....ordered a phone from Verizon that can be used overseas as my Droid won't work, bought a costume for Pirate night and then this.

Okay...I just ordered the Droid 2 because my phone died. It will arrive either tomorrow or Thursday (not sure because of the holiday). Is it only calls that won't work, or doe that include texting? Do you know?

.....As of now we have ALL PRIVATE DIS tastings. I just have a couple of conflicts that we are trying to resolve.....

Thank you SO much for continuing to work on this as well as communicate the dining rotation changes. I know work is just killing you right now, and there's little time for all of these interruptions. :worship::worship:

.....We have a good friend here that has a terrible infection in his hand from a spider bite. He will be going back to the doctor tomorrow since it is not getting better with the antibiotics they have him on. And our DD contracted MRSA from a spider bite a few years ago.....

That's so strange. My friend's 23 year old son had a spider bite that on Friday was diagnosed as turning into MRSA. We won't talk about the nasty thing that they had to do since some may be eating dinner or breakfast. BAD stuff!

Change your DIS Navigators!!!

Assuming the new dining schedule is correct, Do NOT remember the date, September 28. Do NOT do this!

:earsboy: Instead, remember DISers are a PERFECT 10!
So we will now wear our shirts on NIGHT 10, aka September 27, aka PJ Breakfast Day. Don't forget your ears! :earboy2:

PS: If there are many objections to Sept 27 due to Palo ressies, we can also consider Night 12, Tortola day.

What I was told by Verizon was that my HTC Droid would only work in Tortola (why there I have no idea). Your best bet would be to call your carrier directly to find out.

:woohoo::yay::yay::woohoo: Congrats!

I have a Blackberry Storm 2 carried by Verizon and they said that if I get the international plan I can send text messages for 50 cents and recieve them for 5 cents extra. Hope this helps.

Hi Everyone. I have no hope of catching up! Mike and I were in Decatur, GA this past week attending an Optical Network Switch class for work. It was a great class, but I didn't have free time on the 'puter to keep up with you all, and now I am 100 pages behind.

I did see the dining changes though, and you can add me to the list of folks who aren't that happy. I don't care about eating at Palo on Formal Night, but we have Palo brunch on Villains Night. And when we eat Palo brunch, we do not eat dinner. Oh well.

We did not sign up for any tastings with you kids, but I am going to see what the concierge is offering at our meet when we first board the ship. I am a little nervous about that though, as every time we've had that meeting, we get stuck with a total time hog of a family and we have to sit and wait forever. Or get the B team concierge who isn't even a concierge, but just has to help with the initial meeting. I want to say, "We are low maintenance! We just need to confirm our table for 2 at dinner, and maybe sign up for a tequila tasting. 2.6 minutes, promise! Just let us go first!" But I never have the gaul to do that. We get stuck behind the family with their entire cruise plans laid out and insist on reviewing every single detail with the concierge. Hmpphhh.

I am at least 10+ pages behind so I don't have any hope of catching up as still have lots to do tonight.
Been reviewing our shipment with the luggage forwarder all day and helping DD Samantha get her law school applications, test dates etc. done.

Hope I haven't missed too much, but if so, someone please PM me.

We were one of "hog" family on our last cruise as our land concierge advised us not to book anything for any of the 8 of us (youngest DD was in a SPH room) until we boarded as they hold plenty of ressies for the concierge passengers.

It probably took a good hour for us to get all our ressies made and confirmed with the two concierge team members. We were one of the first on board into the concierge lounge so we didn't want to take up this time but it was unavoidable since we did not have any ressies when we boarded.

However, it seemed like to me all of the concierge staff was in the lounge helping people and no one was waiting. Since I had plans for a DIS party in the Walt, they were expecting to help us. We also needed to confirm our dates and details. Our concierge hosts were same two women who helped us when we boarded and were assigned to us during the whole trip.

Indeed I was going to call Verizon as soon as the phone arrives to add on international texting. (I'm switching from AT&T to Verizon.) I would like to be able to post to FB, too. Thanks for giving me the heads up to a possible kink in my plans.

Abby, thank you so much for sharing those details!

We actually have Palo reservations on Night 12, so day 10 for the MMC night works perfectly for us.

HELP!!!!

In skimming over the last 10+ pages, I see the rotations have changed, some of the formal/casual dates have changed and now MMC night is changing.

Can anyone summarize what is happening? I don't have a clue at this point what rotation we are on, as Sarah was linking our ressies.

Sue was informed earlier today that the rotations changed. It's posted on Page 1 as well as a few pages back from this point. Pirate Night is on Night 11, which was originally our MMC night. So we have to move MMC night for that reason.

Sarah was putting all of us in the late dining group in Rotation 2.

Hope that "helps". It's a mess for many now.

Goodness Paula. A 5+ aftershock is almost like a brand new quake. I am so sorry you are having to deal with this so close to your vacation.

And it goes on and on and on... :scared1:

So thankful that you are ok. I visited Christchurch many times when in the Air Force and it is a wonderful city. Do you know if the church in the square survived (where the wizard used to preach). Hope you have a safe trip out and we look forward to meeting you on the cruise.
Barry and Teresa

Thus far the Christ Church Cathedral in Cathedral Square is ok though there are some cracks. Many of the other old churches in the area are not so lucky including the oldest church in the city which I believe will be demolished.

I keep getting confused on this tipping thing. My last understanding was not to tip the taxi driver....the cost for us is 55 Euros. So, should we tip a Euro or so, (since there is no nearest Euro option), or just let it be. :confused3

I got 5 Euros notes from my bank so I am confused???

Think of Euros as Dollars - they have cents too so when we said round it up for example, if you were in a taxi with a meter running and it came to 38.75 - round it up to 40 euro. I believe the 1 and 2 euros are coins instead of paper.

So sorry that you are having to deal with all of this now, right befor holiday. Hopefully things will settle down and level out a bit before you leave.

They are saying these aftershocks will decrease over time but it could go on for months if not YEARS!

Waiting for 3 parcels to arrive. Bras from one place, shapewear from another, and a warmer cardigan from somewhere else!!! I promise I will wear something between the bra, shapewear and cardigan though.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

:scared1: OMG you forgot to order stuff for the bottom half of your body :rotfl2:

Speaking of locking luggage, I have always used zip ties instead of locks. Can you use the TSA approved locks overseas?? Will they lock them when they are done? Do you get a little note saying your luggage was opened?

I use ziplock - they can open it if they want and they will re-zip lock it.

There was a well publicised case a few years ago of an Australian woman who was caught with 4kgs of drugs in her luggage on arrival in Bali - she swears they weren't hers and to the best of my knowledge she was not a known drug dealer/user. It was around the same time that some Qantas staff were found to be stealing items from luggage and its possible that it may have been trafficers that missed removing the drugs from her bag when she arrived in Bali.
I believe she was originally sentanced to execution but is now on a life sentance - from all accounts, she has had a mental breakdown now but maintains her innocence. The thing is, to get a pardon (or reduced sentance) from the Indonesian government she would have to confess and she refuses to admit she is guilty.

Our taxi in Madeira will cost us 95 euros. I'm thinking of rounding it to 100. How does that sound?

That would be fine and fair I would think.

Travelers visiting the U.S. must now pay a fee to enter
Featured story
Starting Sept. 8, travelers flying to the states from certain countries will be required to pay a $14 "operational and travel promotion" fee if they do not possess a U.S. visa.

Its completely free for the next few days but I'm guessing we probably have already filled them out ;)

I updated post with the list of people.

It going to the Praktik Barcelona around 8:45 , then going to the Praktik Rambla. Should be there around 9:00 to 9:15. We should get to the port around 10.

Sounds great, can't wait!
