Great news!!! Sue was able to arrange 4 tables of 4 for afternoon tea on Sept 25. I believe that tea is held at 3 pm.

In order for the concierge to lock in those tables for us, we need to give them our "real" names and reservation numbers.

As for any tea you would book on board, there will be a charge to your room for the tea. I believe it is $10 per person.

These are the people who have signed up for tea.

Seriously, this thread is a part time job!!!
I've never been on a diet - ever. I think diets are far too short term and revolve around depriving yourself of something which then makes you think about it even more and obsess on it. I prefer to eat healthy food 90% of the time and junk occasionally.

I also use any excuse to exercise, and I don't mean going to the gym either (can't think of anything worse) but I bike to work in nice weather, walk the dogs, go for a stroll at lunch time weather permitting etc

I did find myself putting on weight after Robert and I moved in together and found it was portion control that was my issue. Robert would cook the meals and then serve me the same size portion - being a well brought up girl, I'd politely eat it. Simple answer - smaller plate for me.

I don't have much willpower with food so I don't buy stuff at the supermarket like potato chips and chocolate biscuits - I'd eat them. I buy biscuits for Robert that I don't like. I hate ice cream so can happily have a tub of it in the freezer for Robert.

We also eat wholegrains where possible - bread, pasta etc. We ensure our meals at least 50% veges/salad and keep fat/dairy to a minimum. We also have to ensure we get enough protein as we are vegetarian.

This is a bit of a hot topic for me at there is a girl at work who often ponders why she can't loose weight and yet most mornings she sits and eats snacks out of packets - chips, popcorn etc, eats takeaway lunches, drinks canned soft drink most days and then more packet snacks in the afternoon. She declines if invited to go for a walk on a nice day at lunch and drives to the mall to get her lunches (on the rare occasion I buy lunch, I walk there)... she joined a gym but I don't think she goes very often. She is her own worst enemy  Mind you, she also comments "how lucky!" we are to travel - its called saving but don't get me started on that ;)
Paula, I lost a ton of wt years ago, It is so hard to mantain, but this is what I TRY to do, and the vacation thing I get, I am always getting ribbed for my holidays I take, it bugs me, like I won the lotto or something, I work like everybody else here(well except marilyn;)) work hard too .
Yes, that is what I worked out too. :headache:Might try and ask someone on the West Coast US to try book a couple of things for us. For them it is 9pm so not asking them to stay up late or get up early. I really don't think I could get up at whatever time(depending where we are in the Atlantic) to try and do it down in the internet area on DCL slow rate!!!!! I would only want a couple of Palo ressies I think.
good thinking, nothing to loose.
As long as they don't do the Atrium sailaway like in 2007! That was rubbish!
Why was that sarah, bad weather?
Hey everyone

Just some random thoughts:

If they do sail away during 2nd seating dinner, I will skip the sit down dinner and just grab something from deck 9.

I have lost 6lbs since I posted about trying to lose weight! Very happy! Just 139 more to go.

Anyone watch Biggest Loser last night? Amazing results!

Annette :)
:woohoo:well done on the 6lbs! Ive never watched the biggest looser, never really watch telly, but it looks a good show.
I am now clear that I need to give up my job and life to keep up with you guys. If you miss a day here, you miss a lot.

Had to watch the final episode of BL and had the grandkids for a few hours. my DGS is only a year, but he is perpetual motion and you can not take your eye off him for a minute. He loves the stairs and my DH has let him climb up on a foot table:eek: That boy has no fear. He also has learned to throw things down the sairs and between the railings (need a new calculator now). My DGD is 3.5 (will be 4 in two weeks) and thinks she is in charge. I have to gently remind her that she should be three and I will be the nana:thumbsup2 She is very articulate and definately has a mind of her own (no idea where she gets that from;)). This morning she said: "Nana, just so you know, I will make good choices today" I was glad to hear that.:thumbsup2 Dh watches them everyday so it is in my best interest for them to make "good choices". Then when I get home he is in a good mood:goodvibes

So, tonight I am watching them, again, so their parents can go to dinner and finalize some plans (they are splitting up). I will try to corral them in my office so I can check in on you guys;) If anyone wants to send some prayers and pixie dust this way to help my son wake up and realize he is a fool, I would appreciate it. This whole seperation has been stressful and painful. I love my Dil as a daughter and do not want to lose her. Sometimes, I prefer to have her over my son...is that wrong?

I will do my best to catch up tonight. Have a great night and thanks for letting me vent.
Vent away, your grankiddys sound like a hoot.
OMG! 34 hours on a plane! Which way are you flying towards or away from the US? I remember when I flew to Sydney, it was 14 hours from LA to Sydney and I thought that was bad! I have to say that although our flight is only 8 hours, I'm still nervous about it because I don't like to fly. I'm hoping the doctor will give me something to calm me down...my doctor left his practice so I'm now seeing a brand new doctor. My fingers are crosssed!

I would be very happy if we left at 10pm because I don't want to miss it! The fireworks part doesnt' bother me, but I really want to see us leaving.

There is a girl at my dance studio like that. She complains when people loose weight but she eats fast food, candy and soda all of the time.

I've been on Weight Watchers for a year now. I lost almost 15 pounds but then I lost my job and the weight crept back up. Then I found out that I wasn't taking the correct dosage of my thyroid medicine - I have an underactive thyroid which can cause weight gain and make it very difficult to loose weight. THEN 6 weeks ago I found out that my thyroid was 10.6 and it should have been 4.5. :scared1: They upped my medicine and I started to loose a little weight...then last week it just started to come back on for no reason AGAIN. I have to have my blood test repeated and I know it's going to be off.

It's horribly discouraging when my sister and I go to the meetings every week and see all of these people loosing weight and we're sitting there basically loosing nothing.

I know what to eat and I measure my food. It's just extremely frustrating when I do everything right and still gain weight. Tomorrow night is my meeting and I'm so nervous about getting on the scale. I weighed myself yesterday and for no reason gained 3 pounds since last Thursday. I'm afraid of what the scale will show...there's nothing I can do about it, but it still upsets me. :sad1:

On a happier note, my mom just called me and told me that my pet mouse, Remy is mite free!!!! It's HOT here today! By the weekend it is suppose to cool down a little and be sunny on Sunday for the Glee concert in NYC! I can't wait!
At least you keep going which is great, cause if your not loosing at least your not putting on!enjoy glee, you glee nutter you.lol.
Well they think they think they know what wrong with my arm. I started to having issue turn my arm face down. They did some tests at the office and they think a have a burst pronator teres muscle. The worst case scenario. I will have an MRI to find out for sure. If it that i may need surgery or months of physical therapy. I'm hoping it heals soon.

Stephen
Stephen, that sounds like a right pain in more ways than one, I hope you dont need surgery.
LOL - I already asked (along with three other pages of stuff...) They probably think I am batty.
as if:3dglasses
As I promised. I stopped by. The grandchildren are bathed and have gone home. My precious DGD cried becasue she wanted to spend the night. Always breaks my heart to say no, but she is brutal to sleep with and I have to work tomorrow early. I guess this weekend she will be here overnight and it will no doubt be a sleepless weekend. Truth be told, I would not trade it for the world:lovestruc

Thank you for the well wishes and prayers. I do realize that he is to old to punish and ground and that I have NO control over him. I sure would like to shake the stuffing out of him.;) To make it harder, I am a therapist.:confused3 So to make sure I have clear boundries, I focus on those precious grandchildren. I refrain from making any comments (you should see the bite marks on my lips :)) except when it pertains to the children. They are the priority here and I am quick to remind him of that! I am certain he knows exactly where I stand and I will not waver. This has been draining me for the past couple months and there have been a lot of sleepless nights. I appreciate all the input and opinions and for making me safe enough to share.

Now we can return to our regularly scheduled cruise planning.:thumbsup2

Yes I have found that the servers are a bit "disturbed" if you do not show up. I found that if we told them in advance they were very appreciative. I am sure they are concerned you might show up late or that they will not get a tip.
Sounds tough, Its the hardest thing in the world to bite your tongue.
Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you all kow that I received notice from Autumn at DCL Concierge stating that their dining rotations and themes were incorrect (um, yeah...). She is supposed to get a new sheet with rotations for me. She is also trying to nail down dailing time and if there will be fireworks as we sail from barcelona or not. So, more info on that to come...

However, it will be late tomorrow before I can send as I have to really work tomorrow... Not that I don't work while I am at work (heaven knows I do) but my VP is in the office tomorrow and I am not sure that he cares about DIS like I do...

On a fun note, We cave taken the first chain off of our countdown chain. We are 111 days until we leave for Spain!!

WAHOO!!

work, :scared1:this is work

Hey my friend, you too will be old one day and have time on your hands!!!!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Are you wanting to book a whole load for the PC cruise? Of course I realise the excursions aren't out yet.;)

That sounds rotten, good wishes coming their way

Amy, I have been dealing with Hypo thyroid for about 10 years now, took 6 of them to get my levels normalish, it should take 6 months -> a year. I will keep you in my thoughts.

Pj

Ditto, PJ & Amy, I developed hypothyroidism after dd was born 22 years ago and it is constantly up and down...makes it very hard to lose weight (not that this is the only reason!) At least I've got used to the blood tests now....:rolleyes1

Nearly the weekend!:cool1:

Hang in there! I hope it's better in time for cruising. :upsidedow

We didn't do any of the main dining rooms on our recent 3 day cruise, I visited on the early on the second night to drop off our envelopes, it really throw them for a loop. They did ask why we hadn't been, I told them our choice to check out other options and thanked them for their hard work overall and gave them the envelopes. I also stopped by the table to said hello to our tablemates and let them know it was just our choice this cruise to not do the dining rooms. But part of the reason for our choice was that I/us had had such great DIS tablemates over several previous cruises, that it was hard to go back to unknowns, lol.

Pj

It's your cruise, your hard earned money and your choice. Good on you for tipping there efforts anyway. :thumbsup2
I am so glad we are linking dining here, I was also a bit worried we would be put with someone that isn't very kid friendly.

Sounds like your going through a lot right now, As I said earlier it really is special and so important that the kids have you and your DH as a consistent part of their lives while they are going through their parents break-up. I'm sure your DS appreciates it.....deep down? :goodvibes
As for the servers getting disturbed, It probably is tipping. I really love/ hate the whole tipping system, Love that you can show your appreciation for outstanding service, but hate that they wait for / expect it, even when service is not fantastic. I'm just not used to it as we don't tip here at all, maybe 10% of the bill at a restaurant if the service is unbelievably good, but it is NEVER expected. Don't get me wrong, we always tip 15-20% in America, and would never go against another countries customs, but I feel like I am rating the server when I pay the bill, It's a little uncomfortable for me, even after 6 trips in the last 5 year. :confused3

Ok, I was tempted by an e-mail coupon tonight....so sad

I bought this with a 30% off code, http://www.skinit.com/details.php?resourceId=5291 I have bought their product before and it is still intact and looking great. Oh I can't wait to put it on :goodvibes

Pj

That is seriously cute! It didn't look like they had them for a Mac Air, I would have loved one! ;)

:laughing:You know I am teasing.
Not realy, but would be really pleased to book some goodies for my 40th birthday, spa things and maybe palo.

Here's a thought...since everyone has to be on-board for the muster drill at 4:00, what if they would have the sail away party at 5:00? I know. I know. We're not really SAILING away, but that would eliminate dining issues.

:woohoo: Congrats on the shedding of 6 pounds!! :woohoo:

I'm with you...if the Sail Away party is at 9:00, I'll skip the formal dining. I have 13 other nights to get comfy with our servers! Besides, I'm sure I'll still be somewhat jet-lagged, and my dining hours will be all off kilter in the first place.

Is that a Freudian slip? :rotfl2:
I know everyone is worried about the sailaway time, but I sure hope they have a late sailaway time because they are going to have fireworks. I really want fireworks. So very much. :yay::yay:

Well they think they think they know what wrong with my arm. I started to having issue turn my arm face down. They did some tests at the office and they think a have a burst pronator teres muscle. Stephen
Stephen I sure hope you don't need surgery, or if you do that it is painless and fixes you right up! I will never stick my arm in to stop an elevator again. Oh my goodness, what a trauma. I sure hope you are able to rest. :grouphug:

I just sent mine too! I'm so excited! I've never done a tea before. So, it's my first time!

My first time as well!

I tried to book on the WBPC and no tea times were left by the time the fishes stopped swimming.

Thanks to all those who sent PMs. Keep 'em coming. :goodvibes

Just checked on the DCL website and the cost of afternoon tea is currently only $5!

I will edit the prior post when I get to a desktop computer. I can't get the iPad to scroll down in the edit box to what I need to edit. :confused3

I love the iPad. It has been a lifesaver in the hospital over the past couple of weeks for family emails, but it definitely has some quirks. Hence its name-- Ziggy after the computer from the old TV show, Quantum Leap.

Pj, is the Squirt skin for your iPad? Squirt would be a good name for an iPad too! :rotfl:

Good Morning. I am off to work early and thought I would stop by to make a suggestion (incase no one has already done this). There seems to be quite a few folks celebrating on the ship. Maybe we can meet for lunch one day while at to sea and have a celebration lunch. This is my first time to be onboard for my birthday and I thought it might be the same for others as well. Any thoughts? Any suggestions?

Off to work, will check in later.

I don't see anything about linked dining in Post #1. Am I missing it?

Also------DisneyVegas1 PMed me back and said that he was going to put the new and updated lanyard info in Post #1 but I noticed it isn't there on this thread-----is it maybe only updated in our Part 6 thread? (which will be opening up soon I'm sure).....or maybe he said he WOULD do it, but hadn't gotten around to it yet.

We are giving the IPad to DH and DBil for fathers day. Care to share the "quirks"

I thought Tea was 15.00. Good to know it dropped in price.:cool1:

Do you know how hard it is to catch up on this thread when you are gone for 10 days??? Wow! Returned on Sunday from WDW where we celebrated my nephew's wedding on May 17. Sooo much fun. Hoop-Dee-Doo rehearsal dinner on Saturday, tea party shower at Grand Floridian on Sunday, breakfast with the gang (25 of us) at Boma on Monday a.m. and swimming all day at Kidani Village before the wedding. Wedding was BEAUTIFUL. Spent the rest of the week enjoying WDW with my family (and extended family) and had a fantastic time. As much as we were (ARE) looking forward to the cruise, we were trying not to get ahead of ourselves since we had my nephew's wedding trip to Florida to enjoy beforehand.

Got great news yesterday which makes this cruise seem even more real! We received our flight information from DCL ! We were told that we would get the flight info in July so I'm very excited to have it now--because having the flight info makes me feel like we are really going!! We fly out of Cleveland on 9/17 to JFK at 12:05. We fly from JFK to BCN on Delta Flight 94 leaving at 5:40 p.m. arriving in Barcelona at 7:55 ! Since we had no choice but to fly in the day of due to work restraints, we are happy to be arriving so early in the a.m.

I have lost 6lbs since I posted about trying to lose weight! Very happy! Just 139 more to go.

On our Med cruise, all aboard was 4:00 PM, the safety drill was at 5:00 PM and the sail away party was at 10:00 PM. I am expecting similar timings for the Transatlantic.

Another dining question - has anyone noticed that when you don't eat in one of the 3 dining rooms because of an excursion, tired, whatever that the wait staff gets kind of "disturbed". I noticed that more on the last 2 cruises, but I didn't know if it was me just feeling guilty. Any thoughts?

We both missed the Pirate Night dinner as we went to Palo. We had told our servers and table mates the night before, but we were still asked the following night were we had been.
