I spent some time looking at excursions (again) yesterday. I really need to get this all figured out sooner than later.

I wasn't going to do anything in St. Maarten other than walking in town and hit the pier beach. Now I'm swaying to go to Orient Bay because we just don't get much time in Castaway Cay, and it looks just serene and beautiful. The regatta looks pretty awesome, too! I just love being out on a sail boat!

As for Madeira, I'm really uncertain of what direction to go there. I'm seeing several quick one-liner reviews about the "Unforgettable West Madeira" being truly unforgettable, but haven't yet seen details around what made it so amazing. It's 8-8.5 hours in length, but 4 hours of that is travel time. Although I want to see much of the island, I want to get out and touch and smell it, too! LOL So I need to get some serious researching going on for that.

.....I just got back from the doctor and have to see her again 3 days before I leave!! I got excited just thinking about it!!!! My bathing suit came and this time, I didn't like it. Sent it back again. I am glad I started this process early. Hopefully by September I will have it right.:woohoo: .....

Your excitement about your doctor's appointment being so close to the cruise reminds me that I got excited in the grocery store the other day when I picked up something to purchase and noticed the expiration date was the day of our departure! :rotfl:

I don't NEED another swimming suit, but I saw one this week that was a spectacular price and a nice modern fabric pattern. So I'm awaiting for its arrival. It's a different style than I've ever had, so I'm hopeful it will look okay on me. I'm partial to skirtinis, so we'll see! I hope you can find a good one for you soon!

That's the only thing where i'm having a problem, sitting whit strangers on a table. Because last time we had a family that was not that nice. We can speak english but we must think what we going to say back to our tablemates. So that takes time and they didn't understand that i think.

So your not the only couple how has problems whit that, and you can speak English.

Connie:scared1:

Oh thats a shame to be seated with unfriendly people. I am quite shy and find it hard wioth new people for a while, but we've always been so lucky with our tablemates, they've all been lovely people :) You could always team up with some of us DIS people to sit with maybe? :thumbsup2

We have friends who did a private tour of Madeira and enjoyed that. I know it didn't last 8 hours!!! I will get info if you like.

When we were there for a week's vacation quite a few on the site where we were staying hired a local taxi and did a tour. They all said it was excellent, and of course so much cheaper than organised ones.

The panama canal cruise I am sarah, when is your birthday again?

Mine is on a very important date .... 18th September :woohoo::woohoo:

Hello everyone!
I'm happy to be back on the boards after a long while. DH and I are taking our 10th Disney cruise with you all. We were lucky enough to be on the last WB TA in 2007 and are looking forward to this one even more so. We'll be taking it to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary which is actually August 3. We're staying at the Hilton Diagonal Mar Friday night and hope to see some of you there. We had to book it on our own because Disney's portion was sold out. It actually turned out for the best because we're using DH's Hilton points for the room. I'll do my best to catch up on the thread but am happy to be connected with you from this point on!
Cheers!

Hi everyone!

It's a HOT day again! It's supposed to cool down this afternoon, thankfully!

I'm interested in participating in the postcard swap and I can't remember who to sign up with. If anybody could let me know, that would be great!

I've got you down!

Hi Lisa Marie I was on that one too! Glad you're back with us!

Hey Kimberly - both excursions you are thinking about in St. Maarten I have done. I liked the beach better because we were out on the sailboat (regatta), only had 30 minutes to snorkel and back again. I was feeling a little sea sick coming back. The Orient Beach experience was great and they have wonderful waves. Krisann showed us pictures of West Madiera but I didn't think the bus ride was that long. I will have to check it out because I book in 8 more days!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!

We have always enjoyed our table mates, still talk to all of them, send cards, shared some laughs, but the first few nights are always so uncomfortable. If anybody is at the early seating and wants to sit together, let me know. It is my DD (13) Goofy Granny and I! We are not scary, we like to have fun and laugh and if we tell you that we will not be at dinner, PLEASE do not take it personally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Welcome back. We (as well as some others here) were on the same cruise, maybe we will all recognize each other. That way we will not be strangers.

What language do you speak?

When we took a cruise on Norweigen (it was our first and we learned quickly ;)) we had to sit with strangers. As I have said, I am shy at first. These folks were not nice at all and I barely spoke. Flash forward to the airport after the cruise. We were sitting behind them in the terminal and the woman was trash talking about me to another woman. I stood up so the friend could see I was staring and miss big mouth looked up at me and shut up. I learned quickly, that some people have no class and it is all about them. Had she not been so self absorbed, she would have seen I was either quiet or shy. I say, shame on those folks who treated you so poorly. I also believe what goes around comes around.

That is just horrible! I cannot believe there would be people like that. I figure no matter who I sit with, I can make conversation and have a good time. I am just worried that the people I sit with won't want to talk and that would be awkward for all 2 weeks. I can always get seating changed, but then I would feel weird. We have to make sure this does not happen on The Magic - everybody on these boards WILL have a good time - no GREAT time!

Dutch so i don't think anybody speaks this. But we do understand english very good, but we must translate everything before we can say something back. And that takes time. And we're also a bit shy, but we like to hear other people speak about themself.

European english is different then American english, and Scottish:rolleyes1

That's also very different but we do our best to understand you.

I JUST GOT MY LUGGAGE!!!! I ordered the duffle, with Todd's suggestion, and my daughter said her formal dress will fit. YEAH!! We are packing, well, just to get an idea, but still having fun!

I've been in The Netherlands on business (NATO) a couple of times. I found everyone to be very friendly and accommodating. Fortunately, almost everyone spoke English because my Dutch is horrible! So, please don't feel bad!!!

The concept of "American English" is kind of funny when you consider Southern drawl, California "valley," mid-West, New Yorker, etc. I understand Dutch better than I understand Bostonian!:rotfl:

I don't like to make mistakes but i now we can better English then others can Dutch. Only on Sint Maarten they speak Dutch.

Groeten vanuit Nederland

Greetings from The Netherlands

Candida and I will have to get a "crash" course in Dutch from Yvette when we visit with them then.

We should have a game of "telephone" with all the different versions of "English" on board. Statements get so mixed up when all the people are talking the same language. Just imagine how it would be when it is different "English":lmao:
