Hey everyone

Just some random thoughts:

If they do sail away during 2nd seating dinner, I will skip the sit down dinner and just grab something from deck 9.

I have lost 6lbs since I posted about trying to lose weight! Very happy! Just 139 more to go.

Anyone watch Biggest Loser last night? Amazing results!

We went to my niece's last high school choral concert last night. She graduates this year. While the kids did a great job, I think that Glee has spoiled it for me!

Is there a place in Gilbaltar that has true English fish and chips? I really want to try them. Not sure why though....

Does DCL buy back the Euros if we have left overs since we won' need them after this cruise?

We are staying at Avenida Palace in Barcelona and arriving on the 16th. Please add us to the list. Thanks

I think that's all for now
Annette :)

Congrats on the 6lb loss!! Way to go!! I don't think DCL will buy them back - maybe they will. The fish and chips in Gibralter are great. We really enjoyed them and there are tons of walkable restaurants from the ship that serve them. Keep up the great work!

Congrats on the wl. There is a threat on the "meets board" for support if you are interested. it is called "lose before you cruise"

I love the BL and was really shocked at the results last night. I still love Daris and was impressed with how most of them did.

We had fish and chips when we were in Gibraltor in 07 and my Dh said they were authentic (he used to live in England for a few years).

DCl did not buy back any Euros.

I know you are all curious about this evenings game, so here it is, the big update...

WOO HOO!!

Congratulations to your son & the team.:cheer2::cheer2: Has he come back down to earth yet?

Great job with the weight loss. Keep up the good work.

I asked someone who recently stayed at the Le Merdien for a review and this is what they posted.

From the main board:

Le Meridien was quite nice. Bed was super comfy and it was really quiet, but just off Las Ramblas, so close to most everything. Concierge was helpful in getting us to a family friendly Flamenco dinner show (which was outstanding). The bellmen were great about helping with luggage, getting us cabs, directions, etc. Walk in shower (no tub), flatscreen TVs (one in the bedroom, one in the bathroom), coffee in the room, free wi-fi in the lobby...We'd definitely stay there again. Lots of families and DCL people there, obviously. Nice to have the DCL reps there for questions.

I can't say it felt like an authentic Spanish experience, which would be the only negative I could think of. It was a modern, upscale hotel. We'd been travelling for 10 days at that point and couldn't have cared less about having an authentic experience once I saw that walk in shower, lol!

Thanks for sharing this. Good to know.

I am now clear that I need to give up my job and life to keep up with you guys. If you miss a day here, you miss a lot.

Had to watch the final episode of BL and had the grandkids for a few hours. my DGS is only a year, but he is perpetual motion and you can not take your eye off him for a minute. He loves the stairs and my DH has let him climb up on a foot table:eek: That boy has no fear. He also has learned to throw things down the sairs and between the railings (need a new calculator now). My DGD is 3.5 (will be 4 in two weeks) and thinks she is in charge. I have to gently remind her that she should be three and I will be the nana:thumbsup2 She is very articulate and definately has a mind of her own (no idea where she gets that from;)). This morning she said: "Nana, just so you know, I will make good choices today" I was glad to hear that.:thumbsup2 Dh watches them everyday so it is in my best interest for them to make "good choices". Then when I get home he is in a good mood:goodvibes

So, tonight I am watching them, again, so their parents can go to dinner and finalize some plans (they are splitting up). I will try to corral them in my office so I can check in on you guys;) If anyone wants to send some prayers and pixie dust this way to help my son wake up and realize he is a fool, I would appreciate it. This whole seperation has been stressful and painful. I love my Dil as a daughter and do not want to lose her. Sometimes, I prefer to have her over my son...is that wrong?

I will do my best to catch up tonight. Have a great night and thanks for letting me vent.

Well wouldn't you know it I thought "What a GREAT FE gift idea!!" So now I'm trying to track down economical supplies on-line. I've been checking out craft websites and all to get inspired, and without notice, it just found me! :goodvibes

....Original departure time was 9pm and I'm hoping the 4pm is due to the Lifeboat drill as last time (in 07) about 10 families were still being called for after LBD as they hadn't turned up

Here's a thought...since everyone has to be on-board for the muster drill at 4:00, what if they would have the sail away party at 5:00? I know. I know. We're not really SAILING away, but that would eliminate dining issues.

Hey everyone

....There is a threat on the "meets board" for support.....

Is that a Freudian slip? :rotfl2:

What a kind heart your DGD has! That was so sweet of her to acknowledge.

I'm so sorry that you and your family are going through this awful time. It's absolutely hard on everyone to see it happening. I'll certainly say some prayers for you all!

9 hours........try 34!!!!! Believe me, when we get on the Magic we will be sooooooo relieved. With the BA strikes, Ash cloud and just sheer logistics of getting there, I will be happy to just get there no matter what state we're in!
So looking forward to 2 weeks of R & R!!!:goodvibes

OMG! 34 hours on a plane! Which way are you flying towards or away from the US? I remember when I flew to Sydney, it was 14 hours from LA to Sydney and I thought that was bad! I have to say that although our flight is only 8 hours, I'm still nervous about it because I don't like to fly. I'm hoping the doctor will give me something to calm me down...my doctor left his practice so I'm now seeing a brand new doctor. My fingers are crosssed!

Hey Tom - word on the street is we depart at 10:00 but we have to be on by 4:00 for lifeboat drill and there are no fireworks!

I would be very happy if we left at 10pm because I don't want to miss it! The fireworks part doesnt' bother me, but I really want to see us leaving.

This is a bit of a hot topic for me at there is a girl at work who often ponders why she can't loose weight and yet most mornings she sits and eats snacks out of packets - chips, popcorn etc, eats takeaway lunches, drinks canned soft drink most days and then more packet snacks in the afternoon. She declines if invited to go for a walk on a nice day at lunch and drives to the mall to get her lunches (on the rare occasion I buy lunch, I walk there)... she joined a gym but I don't think she goes very often. She is her own worst enemy  Mind you, she also comments "how lucky!" we are to travel - its called saving but don't get me started on that ;)

There is a girl at my dance studio like that. She complains when people loose weight but she eats fast food, candy and soda all of the time.

I've been on Weight Watchers for a year now. I lost almost 15 pounds but then I lost my job and the weight crept back up. Then I found out that I wasn't taking the correct dosage of my thyroid medicine - I have an underactive thyroid which can cause weight gain and make it very difficult to loose weight. THEN 6 weeks ago I found out that my thyroid was 10.6 and it should have been 4.5. :scared1: They upped my medicine and I started to loose a little weight...then last week it just started to come back on for no reason AGAIN. I have to have my blood test repeated and I know it's going to be off.

It's horribly discouraging when my sister and I go to the meetings every week and see all of these people loosing weight and we're sitting there basically loosing nothing.

I know what to eat and I measure my food. It's just extremely frustrating when I do everything right and still gain weight. Tomorrow night is my meeting and I'm so nervous about getting on the scale. I weighed myself yesterday and for no reason gained 3 pounds since last Thursday. I'm afraid of what the scale will show...there's nothing I can do about it, but it still upsets me. :sad1:

On a happier note, my mom just called me and told me that my pet mouse, Remy is mite free!!!! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

It's HOT here today! By the weekend it is suppose to cool down a little and be sunny on Sunday for the Glee concert in NYC! I can't wait!

I would suspect that DCL would not buy back Euros but would allow you to use them to pay your account. I plan to use all my Euros but if not, put them on the account.

I think you are supposed to PM your info about hotels but I could be wrong.

Just my thoughts...

Yes. All hotel info can be PM'd to me, please. I did catch that from your post, Annette, so no need to resubmit. I just don't want to take the chance of missing a post, so sending a PM is best. :)

Speaking of, I was thinking of putting up the updated list Thursday morning EDT. There are quite a few additions! So if you haven't done so yet, please pass your info on to me so you can be included.

Now Fawlty Towers is John's foremost favourite show!!! He laughs just hearing the name.:rotfl2:

So, if we want medications on the Friday or Saturday morning before the cruise then we can call on Dennis to come along with us and translate!!!:thumbsup2

:lmao:Makes us laugh also!!!

Yes, he will be happy to help with that!! :rotfl:

Hey Sue! I just tried to PM you our shirt information but it wouldn't let me because we are new to the forum. It also won't let me put my email address in here. If you can email me just use my DIS name at aol. THANKS!

Welcome!

Crap!!!! it figures ...First night we can book ressies for the Med and the DCL website is down ...... EEEEERRRRRRRRRRR:furious::furious::furious:

Will keep your family in our prayers. As to your relationship with your DIL, it is very good that you can keep loving her. That is so, so good for the grandkids. As for her and your son, we never really know all that is going on in a relationship - and that is a good thing. Being supportive to both is a balancing act, but really a wonderful thing if you can pull it off.

Just my thoughts....:):grouphug:

Sorry to hear about your DS and DIL. My mum felt the same way about my DH!! I think she would have traded him for me in a heartbeat!!

It is so hard to watch a marriage disintegrate but as another poster said, it is hard to know what goes on inside a marriage. Your son may have regrets later in life for the choices he is making but having 3 grown kids, I know how hard it is sometimes to bite your tongue.

Maybe your GK's sense all the turmoil going on in their house and are acting out. I know kids can be very sensitive to the moods of their parents.]

Lots of prayers and pixie dust to you and your family .pixiedust:

I def don't want to miss sail away, as we have never done it (first cruise ever!), so we could be with you on deck 9.
Good on you, 6lbs is great! It's so much harder getting off than putting it on! :rotfl:

Things always appear from the most unlikely places, and always when your not looking for them :thumbsup2
That's a great idea, why not do the party before dinner. If they do it late I'm sure the late dining seating will be empty and we'll all be at sail away!

We are flying Brisbane - Singapore - London - Barcelona. It's the only way we could get there with Qantas, who we are gold members with so try to use them as much as possible. Aaarrgghhhhhh!:scared1:
I hear you with the weight loss issues! I have some hormonal problems which directly affect my weight. I have to be sooooo good all the time just to lose 1/2 kilo a fortnight, and my husband can drop 2 or 3 kilo's in 1 week and cheat! Very frustrating. I go to a personal trainer 3 times a week, and walk/jog at least 2 more. I eat OK, not perfect but OK. I refuse to go on a diet, it always ends in me putting on more than I lost. So I just try to make good choices on a daily basis, and splurge now and then. Life is for living!!!
Oh, Remy, We hadn't had an update for a while, I'm glad he's doing better :thumbsup2
Have a wonderful time at GLEE :cool1:

Feel better nacho! :welcome: to the pif club.:cool1:

Well they think they think they know what wrong with my arm. I started to having issue turn my arm face down. They did some tests at the office and they think a have a burst pronator teres muscle. The worst case scenario. I will have an MRI to find out for sure. If it that i may need surgery or months of physical therapy. I'm hoping it heals soon.
