USGS: 6.2 magnitude earthquake strikes Spain
[Updated 6:52 p.m.] There were no immediate reports of deaths, injuries or damages. The earthquake struck at 12:08 a.m. local time Monday (6:08 p.m. Sunday ET). The quake's epicenter was 24 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of Granada and 93 kilometers (58 miles) northeast of Malaga.

It certainly has been a year of earthquakes...

Thank you all for the warm welcome and for the wonderful links to blogs and TRs for the EB - I love being able to "follow" my parent's vacation!

I was doing the winter to summer closet change-over this weekend and found my two most recent formal gowns (Army balls). I hope they still fit! I think DH has figured out that he is actually going to have to pack for this trip, not just throw some t-shirts and shorts in a backpack.

It is quite likely that the cost of this cruise will drop after the PIF date. On cruises I have been on where that happened lots of folks joined in the fun after the PIF date. So......we need to decide if we are going to cut off joining for FEs (I'm not in favor of this) at PIF date. It seems it would be better to have cut off date not before 60 days, thus giving more DIS folks opportunity to join in the fun. That would mean mid July for cut off date. Now, for those who plan ahead, if we have small groups already set with more to be put together as folks join, your FE responsibilities would not be affected by when the cut off date is.

As for adults only group.....we like getting stuff for kids. :goodvibes

Our plan is FE gift per cabin with extras for children in a cabin. If you want to do something for each person in the cabin that is fine, but certainly not required. So, 15 cabins for us means 15 FE gifts. We are ok with any number up to 25. If we have extras we too will just spread them around into random FEs. :thumbsup2

Hi all, me again... More on FE's...

I think that I want to take additions to the groups until June 1. At that time I will reassess and even out the number of cabins per group - to be between 15 and 20 cabins. That seems to look about right as of where we are now.

I know that people want to get started, (I do too!! I have done quite a bit, but want to finish what I am making...) but I think that we need to wait and see where everyone lands.

So, until June 1, please add yourself to the FE list by checking the FE box n the Roll Call (www.transatlanticpirates.com). I will re pull the list from the DB on the evening of the first (EST) and will post that night.

Anyone that signs up after the first will be put into a new group. I will work with them on cut off dates and all that, and if it is a really small group, I will turn to you all and see what you want to do.

WHEW! Who knew FE's could be so demanding... :)

Sue

OOPS - forgot this...

If you want to be in multiple groups let me know!

Sue

I am going to plan on 25. So no worries for me when you finalize it. If you need someone to do 2 groups we would consider it.

DH and I spend about 3 weeks before a cruise packing and weighing suitcases. We have some pretty severe weight restrictions on one of our flights so we may have to do a luggage forward to Barcelona.

Thanks for doing this, Sue! :flower3: I will just count on 20 or so, get it taken care of. I do not plan to do anything different depending on which group we wind up in so will just carry on. :thumbsup2 The children  that end up in our group we can take care of last minute since it seems there won't be too many in any single group.

OK - so the reviews are mixed here.. Equally mixed might I add...

Here is my delima. At current we have 42 cabins PLUS 2 cabins that want to be in 2 groups, for a total of 44.

If I stay with the current groupings:
Group Papaya has 18 cabins with 39 people
Group Kiwi has 18 cabins with 40 people
Group Pineabble has 8 cabins with 23 people

If I move to 15 cabin groups it looks like this:
Group Papaya has 15 cabins with 33 people
Group Kiwi has 15 cabins with 34 people
Group Pineabble has 14 cabins with 35 people
Group Strawberry is ready to fill

So, my concern is that we are close to the PIF date - will we get enough people to get group Pineapple closer to the 15-18 cabins as the other groups? Also - is there anyone else that wants to be in multiple groups? (Or is it just Paula and I that are nutty?)

In my original post about this, I wasn't going to announce all the groupings until June. Are we better off planning for 15-18 cabins and waiting until after the PIF date to set it in stone?

And, do we have anyone? maybe I need a last call post? ACK! too many decisions to make!!

Looking for advice, suggestions, feedback - whatevere!

Sue
I'm easy. Whatever works for you is good for me. I'm going to bring the same stuff, doesn't matter.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Found this time lapse video of the cable car descent. You can see where the Magic will be docked on the right, though she should now be more inside the harbour if docking in the same place as the picture in the webcam above.

Thank you so much for this! I am now absolutely positive that I will be taking the bus to the top of Gibraltar. :goodvibes:goodvibes

I am so far behind and have been super busy so I haven't had time to read this thread. Awhile back the 12 meter Regatta was brought up. Below are links to my posts from my trip report in 2007 that includes picture from the regatta.

Regatta Part 1 and Part 2

I need to work on making sure we sign up for stuff. I don't think my brother Stephen (Nacho1337) or I really have signed up for stuff but I know we will want to. I need to finalize plans my trip to FL in May before I worry about what I am doing on this cruise.;)

I hope you are all doing well.

No problem. I did wonder when I got your PM. I guess you meant to send it to someone else!!

So, updated list:

Hi! Can I be added to the list and my mom, too?

Carolynn (terapin)
Tru (Trudy)

Thanks!

I have indulged in a little bit of holiday shopping today. I needed to get some more swimsuits as all but one were a bit baggy. I also ordered a sundress. I finally also got around to trying on my new evening gown, which is size 20/22 as opposed to my old ones which were 24/26. So I was a little nervous, but it is a perfect fit. One of my old evening gowns was donated to a charity shop during the week. The other one I love too much and might try to have it altered. If this cannot be done or if this would be too expensive, I will have to order the same evening gown in a smaller size and then the original one will be donated as well.

Corinna

COngrats! That is good work!

Can we sign up for a few other things?

Carolynn (terapin)
Paul
Trudy (tru)

Would like to sign up for:

wine tasting
tequila tasting
cognac tasting
beer tasting
Martinin tasting

I'm not a huge drinker (really!) but I like trying things.

Also, can my mom and I sign up for the Secret Mickey? Terapin and Tru.

With thanks!

If I should be PMing people directly, could someone let me know who? It's getting complicated!

LOL! Don't worry my other half seems shocked everytime I mention packing! Yesterday reminded him that if we go to Palo he has to wear a suite and you would have thought I had never said it before! I know I did! I'm sure he thought just a few tshirts and shorts was enough!

Hopefully Sarah (TotallyAngelic) has picked you up for Secrete Mickey but I'd give her a pm just incase.

Oh my God! Someone's posted this on the forum as to special entertainment on the EBTA

So far, they only have announced Ducky Williams - he is doing a sketch specifically for you. You get 10 min with him for $40 (!) and he will draw anything you want. There is Alfred and Seymour and Ricky Kalmon, a hyptonist we saw on the western last summer who is so funny!! This is all so far. I'm going to start a "Live on the Magic" thread if there isn't one already.

Thank you so much for this! I am now absolutely positive that I will be taking the bus to the top of Gibraltar. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Alfred and Seymour are just fantastic. They were on our February cruise. I so hope they are on our TA one too. We laughed our socks off, just brilliant:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
