OK, now that I've read all the posts since the original question, my vote is for 15 cabins.

Let the kids fall where they may, since I am planning on kid stuff (if we do fewer cabins, each group might have fewer kids, but look at all the stuff they'll get :lmao:). And who says we can't surprise the kids on other lists, if we have enough stuff to hand out? :confused3

Waiting until 60-75 days out sounds like a good plan.

And I second the thanks and gratitude for all the work you're doing!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Hey all,

If you do not see yourself listed on the lanyards page of the www.transatlanticpirates.com page---DO NOT FRET. If you are sure you sent an email or PM to me directly, then there is a 99% chance I have your information. That list on the website started coming together well after we actually started taking orders for lanyards....so i would estimate that the website list contains only about 1/3 of the folks who are on MY list (which hasn't been published yet---coming soon in the next couple weeks).

If you're still not certain, you're free to PM or email me just to be sure....but be warned that I have so many people contacting me that I'm not likely to reply individually to everyone. Just sit tight and once I put the full list up on the boards, you can take a look and make sure your info is correct and get back to me if there are changes!

I'm sure i'll end up with some spare FE gifts too so i'm sure i'll end up doing some random handouts to extenders i happen to pass by even if they're not on my list.

Two things are for sure,

i'm taking everything i make,

and i'm not bringing any of it home with me !!!

OK - so the reviews are mixed here.. Equally mixed might I add...

Here is my delima. At current we have 42 cabins PLUS 2 cabins that want to be in 2 groups, for a total of 44.

If I stay with the current groupings:
Group Papaya has 18 cabins with 39 people
Group Kiwi has 18 cabins with 40 people
Group Pineabble has 8 cabins with 23 people

If I move to 15 cabin groups it looks like this:
Group Papaya has 15 cabins with 33 people
Group Kiwi has 15 cabins with 34 people
Group Pineabble has 14 cabins with 35 people
Group Strawberry is ready to fill

So, my concern is that we are close to the PIF date - will we get enough people to get group Pineapple closer to the 15-18 cabins as the other groups? Also - is there anyone else that wants to be in multiple groups? (Or is it just Paula and I that are nutty?)

In my original post about this, I wasn't going to announce all the groupings until June. Are we better off planning for 15-18 cabins and waiting until after the PIF date to set it in stone?

And, do we have anyone? maybe I need a last call post? ACK! too many decisions to make!!

Looking for advice, suggestions, feedback - whatevere!

Sue

Looks like the general vote is to wait after PIF date, Aarrgghhhhh, I've already started!!! Please don't make me wait too long!

I saw the posts with the fish extender allocations, and the question about when to close off the fish extenders.

I'd recommend holding off on the cutoff date until closer to the 60 or 75 day mark. If DCL does what they did with the EBTA and offers discounted rooms after the start of the penalty phase, we may get additional DISers joining our cruise at the 89 day mark or so. 2-3 months out still seems like plenty of time to put the finishing touches on most FE gifts.

On the allocation of the kids, I noticed that we are currently in the first group that only has 3 kids, two of which are mine! I know we said to let the kids fall where they may, but the numbers just seem too off at the moment. It seems like with so few kids, it might be better afterall to concentrate the kids into a single FE grouping. That way the other group or groups can focus on adult themed gifts without having to worry about something special for the kids. (Course on the other hand, it may mean that the 3 kids get spoiled by more individual gifts.) We're fine either way, but just wanted to make the offer to move to another group if everyone would prefer an adults only FE group.

When you say finishing touches, do you start without numbers? How many do you make? I am doing seperate gifts for ladies, men, girls and boys, If I don't have numbers I can't really start? Or do you just make a certain amount and hope for the best? How many? Maybe I should change to a generic per cabin gift?

I have indulged in a little bit of holiday shopping today. I needed to get some more swimsuits as all but one were a bit baggy. I also ordered a sundress. I finally also got around to trying on my new evening gown, which is size 20/22 as opposed to my old ones which were 24/26. So I was a little nervous, but it is a perfect fit. One of my old evening gowns was donated to a charity shop during the week. The other one I love too much and might try to have it altered. If this cannot be done or if this would be too expensive, I will have to order the same evening gown in a smaller size and then the original one will be donated as well.

Corinna

CONGRATULATION!!! It is so exciting going down a size! :cool1:

It's 8:10 on Monday morning here, still in PJ's!!!

Corina, I cant wait to see your gowns.
My Mum is/was a seamstress(is that how you spell it?)she worked with the designres from M ans S making samples for there designs, she is an amazing lady with her hands my Mum!
Dont get your hopes up, I know there is a LOT of work involved in stuff like that!

I feared that this might be the case. Still, I can worry about this after the cruises. The next project is to get the custom jewellery to go with the new evening gown made and also to get the second formal dress sorted out. Both will have to wait until I get back from the Med cruise.

Corinna

I'm happy with the list, Most of us were planning on 25 cabins so 18 is fine. I know a few people had already bought supplies for 25 aswell, so dropping down to 15 would mean alot of left overs for some?

I would also like the cabin number to be about 15 which would make the total count around 25.

Amanda

It is quite likely that the cost of this cruise will drop after the PIF date. On cruises I have been on where that happened lots of folks joined in the fun after the PIF date. So......we need to decide if we are going to cut off joining for FEs (I'm not in favor of this) at PIF date. It seems it would be better to have cut off date not before 60 days, thus giving more DIS folks opportunity to join in the fun. That would mean mid July for cut off date. Now, for those who plan ahead, if we have small groups already set with more to be put together as folks join, your FE responsibilities would not be affected by when the cut off date is.

As for adults only group.....we like getting stuff for kids. :goodvibes

Our plan is FE gift per cabin with extras for children in a cabin. If you want to do something for each person in the cabin that is fine, but certainly not required. So, 15 cabins for us means 15 FE gifts. We are ok with any number up to 25. If we have extras we too will just spread them around into random FEs. :thumbsup2

Hey Eric,
If you want to send me a listing of what you have I can also update the DB on the website. Not sure if that would help people or not...

Thanks again for taking on this project!!

Sue

Hi all, me again... More on FE's...

I think that I want to take additions to the groups until June 1. At that time I will reassess and even out the number of cabins per group - to be between 15 and 20 cabins. That seems to look about right as of where we are now.

I know that people want to get started, (I do too!! I have done quite a bit, but want to finish what I am making...) but I think that we need to wait and see where everyone lands.

So, until June 1, please add yourself to the FE list by checking the FE box n the Roll Call (www.transatlanticpirates.com). I will re pull the list from the DB on the evening of the first (EST) and will post that night.

Anyone that signs up after the first will be put into a new group. I will work with them on cut off dates and all that, and if it is a really small group, I will turn to you all and see what you want to do.

WHEW! Who knew FE's could be so demanding... :)

I like MrsMorks idea that we set some groups now at 15 or 18 or whatever and then set more groups as more people join. If we can factor in everybody who is currently joined now into groups, then get new groups ready as they come. Otherwise It looks like some of us will have leftovers as it is, so whoever has leftovers can make up numbers towards the end for the last minute FE groups, does that make sense?
I am just very impatient, Blame it on my DISorder, compulsive DISorder that is!!! :rotfl:

OOPS - forgot this...

If you want to be in multiple groups let me know!
