OK - so the reviews are mixed here.. Equally mixed might I add...

Here is my delima. At current we have 42 cabins PLUS 2 cabins that want to be in 2 groups, for a total of 44.

If I stay with the current groupings:
Group Papaya has 18 cabins with 39 people
Group Kiwi has 18 cabins with 40 people
Group Pineabble has 8 cabins with 23 people

If I move to 15 cabin groups it looks like this:
Group Papaya has 15 cabins with 33 people
Group Kiwi has 15 cabins with 34 people
Group Pineabble has 14 cabins with 35 people
Group Strawberry is ready to fill

So, my concern is that we are close to the PIF date - will we get enough people to get group Pineapple closer to the 15-18 cabins as the other groups? Also - is there anyone else that wants to be in multiple groups? (Or is it just Paula and I that are nutty?)

In my original post about this, I wasn't going to announce all the groupings until June. Are we better off planning for 15-18 cabins and waiting until after the PIF date to set it in stone?

And, do we have anyone? maybe I need a last call post? ACK! too many decisions to make!!

Looking for advice, suggestions, feedback - whatevere!

Sue

I would suggest waiting till PIF date. There would still be almost 4 months after then to reorganise things, and it does sound to be getting complicated at the moment. Could be some folk booked and down for doing FE might cancel yet, and of course others join in. There could always be a group for latecomers closer to the date if they wish to take part.

You are fantastic taking on this job - I would be a trifle stressed out!!!!!

I am indifferent about 15 or 18 (just like to keep it under 25 cabins). I agree with Marylin that there will be changes with PIF coming up. (I have 1 more installment to make on 5/1.) And yes, I am 1 big kid - I did the FE on the EBPC 2 years ago and it was like Christmas everytime I went back to my room (I also did it on the 1st Med cruise in 2007 - was not the same as it was so port intestive - Got up, ate, get off ship, nap on bus, do sights, return to port (with nap on bus), shower, show if feasible, dinner, bed (once over jet lag)). I actaully got quite sick at the last port from running myself down (also had added stress of bringing my father and 5 months of processing that he was getting remarried), so going on the last med cruise to enjoy it this time.

BTW thanks to all of you organizing things. You all rock! I am going to hold off signing up for things as I found out they clashed with other things I wanted to do on the ship at those times and I am one who doesn't bail when I commit to things. So I am going to play it by ear, which is totally unlike me - I usually like every thing all planned before I leave the house. I have 2 goals - to see a movie - as I have yet to be in the movie theater on the ship yet and I have been on 4 cruises and do the Theater tour.

For those of you organizing the alcohol tastings you may want to find out from Disney if they are going to pre-charge as we did a private tastings for the martini and wine and a good group of people did not show for both and they had poured for as many as we told them would be there. Granted none of us let any of it go to waste. :rotfl: I plan to note when you all are doing them as I would love to do all of them but beer, especially those that are not the common ones (whiskey, rum, cognac). BTW I love the idea of a designated walker.

Good morning from SF (9:00 am here). It is raining today and not sure if I need to go into work again today (was there for 4 hours last night). We have our annual conference in 2 weeks in Scottsdale, Arizona and we are cranking away at slides.

On Thursday night I bought myself a Wii and Wii Fit. I plan to get it set up today and start on Monday. Goal is to lose 10 lbs before vacation. That gives me 4.5 months. I am already walking home from work on most nights (weather permitting) and that is ~2 miles and takes be between 35-45 minutes depends on my pace. So add the Wii to that and watching what I eat and cut back on the alcohol. Granted I swear I lost weight on my last cruise and I was eating 3-4 course meals every night (not watching what I was eating) and drinking.

Oh well, guess I should get moving as the laundry or the cleaning is not going to do itself.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. I am so excited since the Magic departed yesterday; it just makes bringing her back that much more real.

I saw the posts with the fish extender allocations, and the question about when to close off the fish extenders.

I'd recommend holding off on the cutoff date until closer to the 60 or 75 day mark. If DCL does what they did with the EBTA and offers discounted rooms after the start of the penalty phase, we may get additional DISers joining our cruise at the 89 day mark or so. 2-3 months out still seems like plenty of time to put the finishing touches on most FE gifts.

On the allocation of the kids, I noticed that we are currently in the first group that only has 3 kids, two of which are mine! I know we said to let the kids fall where they may, but the numbers just seem too off at the moment. It seems like with so few kids, it might be better afterall to concentrate the kids into a single FE grouping. That way the other group or groups can focus on adult themed gifts without having to worry about something special for the kids. (Course on the other hand, it may mean that the 3 kids get spoiled by more individual gifts.) We're fine either way, but just wanted to make the offer to move to another group if everyone would prefer an adults only FE group.

I may have missed someone along the way, so please check and make sure that I have you listed! :thumbsup2

I have indulged in a little bit of holiday shopping today. I needed to get some more swimsuits as all but one were a bit baggy. I also ordered a sundress. I finally also got around to trying on my new evening gown, which is size 20/22 as opposed to my old ones which were 24/26. So I was a little nervous, but it is a perfect fit. One of my old evening gowns was donated to a charity shop during the week. The other one I love too much and might try to have it altered. If this cannot be done or if this would be too expensive, I will have to order the same evening gown in a smaller size and then the original one will be donated as well.

I got a little teary eyed watching her leave. My parents are on the EB and I hope they are having a magical time.

I popped over about a month ago with every intention of joining our cruise thread and keeping up with things, but then work and another vacation got in the way! BUT, today I booked air travel for us to Barcelona and the cruise is paid off, so I suppose it is really going to happen and I should start preparing.

Dh and I are booked on the WB - our first cruise together and our first Disney cruise. I suppose we could have started with a nice 3 nighter to see how we like it, but where is the fun and adventure in that?

Good for you. Welcome aboard.

Sue...why not wait until after PIF date. I think we will have some people dropping out and more joining us and confirming by then. You can then give a close off date - say 1st June and make the final announcement on groups.

Welcome !!! and hi from sunny scotland.

Sounds like a lovely day and your dd is gorgeous.

Thank you. She is having a wonderful time as she emails us photos.

Can I just say that on both of our Dec cruises, that I was just like a kid checking the FE for things. It was such fun finding things in there.!!!!!
I have a few things that I hope will be fun for other folks!!!!:goodvibes

I loved shopping at Downtown Disney for our FE gifts on our NYE cruise. We had so many kids that it was fun to shop for them.

I think keeping the families with children in one group as that would make it easier to shop but that is just my thoughts.

I really don't think that list on the website is up to date. I know i have now, accidentally:blush:, sent 2 requests about the lanyards for us, but we aren't on the list. Perhaps they are getting it all organised at the moment.

That is awesome that your gown fit so well! :thumbsup2

I missed all of the fun of the Magic leaving yesterday since I was working at the Disney Store....I have to say I did think about the people on board a lot though! Soon it will be our turn on the Magic!

Hey all,

So, I was looking at the lists, and started second guessing myself... I stopped at 18 cabins, and about 40 people per group. Is that too many? Should I dial it back to 15 cabins? It is an easy change for me to make, just need to know if I should.

Let me know. If we want to go down to 15, I will make the change after I get home from what I am now calling our "Never Ending Renovation"...

Sue

Works for me. ::yes::

You guys talk so much, I'm always way behind on replying. :surfweb:
