I played with dates in Sept 2009, I can do it for under $1000 BUF-DUB-CDG(2 day stop over and train to BCN) or BCN (incl a hotel night), rt. MCO -BUF. I am hoping that the CAD$ bounces back a little more and that fares stay at somewhat the same level.

Welcome javaj :welcome:

My most memorable holiday was the Christmas when I was eleven years old.

We had moved to Windsor, Connecticut not long after my mother gave birth to my brother in August of 1961. I was the oldest of four girls and he was the last baby. Mom ended up having a hysterectomy and he had a hernia operation. The house was a former funeral home. Very scary basement with big barrels and other stuff. Since my mom was under the weather, we actually stayed two doors down with a very nice family who had about seven foster children. Lots of love in that family. The family who lived right next to us was a typical Italian family. Lots of family members were always there. The mother had a garden out back and she was always cooking. She would always come over with the excuse that she had made too much for supper and wanted us to have some. Back then, being in the Navy with five kids was unheard of and we were really broke. There was always some kind of bag on our back porch filled with food from a local church. There was an elderly Lithuanian couple down the road who had a fantastic garden with lots of beautiful flowers and lots of corn and every day for the rest of the garden season, we had a grocery bag full of corn on the back step. I remember going shopping for Christmas gifts and I watched my mother pick out a transistor radio for me and a plastic pink princess phone for my baby sister. She was eleven months older than my brother and loved our phone. The hope was that she would leave the real phone alone and play with the fake. (it worked) She carried it all over the place. That Christmas Evening, the neighbor's son came over dressed as Santa. My sisters were looking at him and at the door and then at the ceiling trying to figure how he got here. I remember how fantastic it was cause I knew the secret and felt all grown up. I got my radio and a beautiful necklace --heart shaped with rinestones from the neighbor and Nancy Drew books from the grandparents and that was all. I actually have the necklace. It was okay because I knew we did not have much but saw the kindness of the neighbors and I really grew up fast because I was helping take of my little brother and sister and helping to cook but my mother made sure to thank me every day for my help. That was also before all of the abuse started in the family from the Idiot stepfather so it was really the only good Christmas I had had as a child.

Hi everyone :wave2:

First of all CONGRATS and WELCOME ABOARD to the new cruisers!! :sunny: :boat: :sail:

Guess what I'm doing tonight? I'm mouse-sitting for a mommy and baby mouse from the science center where I work. The baby is 6 days old and is so cute! Well...there were more babies but they became food for the snake at the Center. If it would have been up to me, I would have kept them all! There's a total of three adult mice at the Center, Snoopy(who I have at home), Chuck and Speedie. Speedie is also pregnant and is due any day. I'm hoping to save the baby from the snake...if I do, you can bet what I'm going to name it! Mickey!!!!

Aww that is too cute!! You have to save Mickey!!! :scared1:

LOL

Thanks for all the welcomes! We're going on a Carnival 3-day cruise out of San Diego in a few weeks and DH and I both agree that this just made us more excited about the transatlantic in 17 months. Oh sure we'll have fun on the Carnival cruise but it definitely won't be the same as DCL.

Well I'm sure it will be fantastic! I so need a cruise and wont be getting one this year so have to put up with a caravan holiday in West Wales!

Welcome, new folks! We'll be at the end of the thread soon at this rate :)

Has anyone checked airfare yet?

I looked but were coming from the UK so prices are slightly different. I think we've narrowed down outbound to either British Airways or BMI Baby as they seem reasonable and then Virgin Atlantic back over the water as can get reduced rates through my Dad. It's still probably going to cost us more to fly than it does for the cruise but oh well.

This is one of the reasons we are considering the Eastbound as well, we can then fly on return tickets, chuck in a few vacation club points towards the cruise cost and the whole exercise starts to look pretty cheap.

Good morning everyone,

Just thought I would catch up here this morning before heading out to moms house for the weekend.

Welcome to all the new people:goodvibes

Hope everyone has a great weekend:thumbsup2

Trouble is the period between arriving in the US before the EB cruise and leaving the US after the WB is far over the 90 days allowed that they presume you are in the US.

That was our thought too!

Good news! I was able to save Mickey!!!! :yay:

Not sure if we're going to name it (I don't know if it's a girl or boy) Mickey or not, but it is mine! Right now I'm going to keep baby and mommy at my house until the baby can be weened in three weeks. The baby doesn't even have its eyes open yet but it is getting its fur!!!! I'm so excited to have a pet again!!!! It's been a LONG time! :)

Glad Mickey (or Minnie) is safe :)

Will they be traveling with you for the weekend???

OFF - TOPIC

Having a pool party for the 2nd grader and 5th grader soon and can not think of good party favors - we did beach balls last year and I am hoping for something new...
I thought of personalized snorkels but cannot find where those would be ordered....

Any ideas?
Thought maybe someone would have an ideas since it would be similar to a FE gift!!!

No, I was going to leave them at home. Snoopy (the mommy) doesn't really like the car even the 5 minute drive from work to home. I do have a picture of the baby though! :)

Magic Meets opened up at noon today for folks to purchase their tickets. Over 900 people had pre-registered but only 550 can get tickets. Deb Wills posted on Facebook that over half the tickets were sold in the first 15 minutes!!!! Last year it took 36 hours!!! :cool1::thumbsup2
