Welcome to the new posters....and all the lurkers, too! :cheer2:

I have been busy with holiday stuff and working. I am doing as much OT as they will let me....supposed to stop all of the OT after the 1st, we will see. My department is so short, I don't think they will. I think they will just keep better track of it, and send people home when they can.

Kellie has had a grand total....dun, dun ,dun....of ONE interview since October. I am hoping it picks up after the 1st of the year. :confused3 Or we will have to seriously consider moving out of state. The good news is, we settled with the insurance company about a past claim....and I have won a couple Texas Hold 'Em Tourneys. I have booked a Western for May at the good Cat 12 GTY rate with my "windfall."

Any suggestions for the excursions? We have never been to any of the ports on the Western? I am thinking about the Dolphin swim for DD and REAS for Kel and I....other then that I don't have a clue!

Jewel, I've done the Royal Swim at Chankanaab (ok....way to lazy to go look up the correct spelling) in Cozumel and it was WONDERFUL. :thumbsup2 Also, the park there is lovely and has pretty decent food too. I'd recommend booking on your own through www.dolphindiscovery.com as it is less expensive and you can stay and enjoy the park. It's about a $10 cab ride each way.

**... Pokes head into thread ... **

Hello! My husband and I gave ourselves this cruise as a Christmas giftie! It meant that we had to give up the cruise we had planned for October 2009 but since we've already sailed an Eastern Caribbean itinerary it didn't bother us too much.

We got a great quote from Dreams that included airfare and are sooooo excited to able to take such a unique trip. We've never been to Europe and while this will only be a very small taste at least it's a start.

My name is Brenda and my hubby is Jason - we've been on two Disney cruises (a Western in 2004 and an Eastern in 2005) and love visiting WDW in October for the Food and Wine Festival. We're DINKS who love to eat and drink and laugh ... we're both pretty silly but we like it that way.

I do most of the posting so most likely I'll be the one chatting with ya over the next 20 months or so. We're really looking forward to getting to know everyone and sailing in 2010!

Brenda :goodvibes

Welcome Brenda.....looking forward to sailing with you.

Welcome Brenda and Jason- someone "newer" than me to this thread and sail date-what a great Christmas gift to each other!. I'll have to read your foodie reports from F & W. I'm over at WDW alot as we live only 10 min away ( used to live in Lakeland but moved to Hunter's Creek area in October) but only went over to Epcot one day this year for the event so didn't really see much.

I have a question for everyone- anyone else book prenights in Barcelona? Due to my fear of jet lag and desire to see BCN once I'm over there I booked two nights via DCL at the Hilton Diagonal Mar. I'm hoping I can get around easily in my chair in that area- it looked like the most convenient hotel for someone in a w/c. Guess I could've booked on my own but I prefer to book everything through DCL- flights, insurance, etc. I hope two days is enough- anyone have an opinion? Did anyone stay there the last time DCL was in the Med?---Kathy

Thanks!

Jackie! Are you on this cruise, too? Squeeee! Now I "know" a couple of people who will be on the ship! :thumbsup2

And if you've been reading our food trippies then you probably know waaaaay more about Jay and me than you ever wanted to! :lmao:

Oh, and Plankton is definitely going to be on this trip! :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear you're working right now ... that's no fun, especially on a Saturday. We're going to red-eye into Barcelona so we'll only have the day in port before the ship leaves ... but I'm happy with that for now. :goodvibes

Yay! B n J on the cruise (and I just realized that if you include Planky, you get PB&J :lmao: )! And don't tell Planky, but it's so great you're bringing him ;) . (This trip really needed a Brandine aboard; no Aquanettas yet, though :rotfl: .)

Welcome aboard Brenda and Jason - this will be our 2nd cruise and our 1st without our kids - great to have you on board. We were at the Food and Wine Festival in Epcot last October - I must try and read your trip reports as the titles sound really interesting!

Sarah, you should definitely read Brenda's trippies; they are smile inducing, instructive, and very entertaining!

PD for a new job for Kellie. And congrats on your winnings-yay!

Kylie might enjoy the butterfly farm on Grand Cayman; we did that last year and it was really interesting.

Kathy, we're thinking much along the same lines as you. We haven't yet booked anything since the hotel rates through Disney are pretty darn astronomical, but we also like the security booking through Disney provides. As first time travelers outside the US, we're kind of clueless about this stuff (and, I admit, a bit apprehensive too, besides being excited).

Since I just moved my obo sail date last week the only two resorts available for prenights were the Hilton Diagonal Mar and one that was way more expensive ( can't remember the name offhand). I could have waitlisted the AB Skipper which was the most favorable rate but wanted the Hilton due to it's proximity to a huge mall that I could get to w/o taking transportation. The other resorts were closer to some of the attractions that I'd love to see but figured are not w/c accessible. It's my first time to Europe and I want to have everything booked via DCL- I know they'll take good care of me and if I have a challenge, it will be worked on w/o my having to struggle with it. I might pay more but the peace of mind is worth it. This will be my first cruise in a suite and I can't wait to enjoy the whole experience. Hopefully someone will have stayed in a BCN hotel and can chime in with their past experience- it's good to hear from someone who's been there and done that. ---Kathy

Good morning everyone,
well our snow is gone but it is dumping buckets of rain. Over 2 inches over night and lots of wind gusts. I cant even see out my windows its raining so hard.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas.:goodvibes

Anyone have any special plans for New Years?
We are hoping to have our family Christmas New Years day since the snow made it impossible for us to get together. I will be so glad to get these presents out of my RV.

When I walked the pups last night, in the pouring rain I almost walked over a deer. She was just standing there by the road. I think we both startled each other. Luckily the dogs were sniffing the road where she had been walking so they didnt see her. I know I wouldnt have been strong enough to hold both of them back if they decided to chase her.:scared:

Nothing exciting going on here right now.
Have a great day everyone,

Kathy

My plans for new year is work, :woohoo:
It is cold here, we met a deer up the forrest a few days ago, I could hardly breath, I was shouting on Orly, and managed to break his concentration, :scared1: then he went on the lead cause if he sniffed it, that would be worsethan seeing it!

I think I have seen pictures of Planky in trip reports!!!!
He is a bit square though?? lol

Dcl fun, I dont know what we are going to do in barcelons, I am having enough trouble booking hotels for june in Ca and LV !!!
What a nice thing to worry about though.

Ok Bendy...I'm leaving this one up to you... :flower3:

Brenda will be back with an explanation later, no doubt, but here is a picture of Algae (my UK Planky!) with me and Christian on the EBRepo this year.

I heard that too.

Hey, you're making that up!

Woody

Hi Woody, many many years when I first left school I was in the Merchant Navy and on my first trip we crossed the equator and believe me it was a lot more than that. I had my head shaved another first timer was covered in grease and oil. This was not on a passenger ship and they are probably a bit easier now but in the late 60s/ early 70s it happened on every trip.

Back in the late 60's my brother was in the U.S. Navy and they had a similar ritual they did to everyone who hadnt made the crossing before on the destroyer he was on. He hated it when it was his turn but loved it when he got to watch some other guy go through it;)

My hubby done it with navy and got the works, something the same as these stories, but the cpt gave them a cert, he is very proud of it,and I him, it was when he went to the falkand islands in the 80's
