Hi all,

we are visiting Florida / WDW in May.

We plan to take some of our Lorcana Decks with us and playing Set Championships during our stay at some Comic / TCG Stores.

We would also like to get some of our Cards signed from various Characters. Would they do this if we bring a pen & ask them during the Meet Up?

Is Lorcana a thing at the Parcs, like are there and meets for playing against other visitors?

Characters are generally willing to sign items like that if you ask nicely, so I don’t believe you’ll have a problem.

I’ve personally never heard of Lorcana being a thing in any way at the parks. A quick Google search says they’re usually only sold at Disney Springs. Have a great trip.

Lorcana cards just recently started to be sold at WDW. My son got some packs at WoD of Disney. No discounts given on the cards.

Game play is not a thing in the parks, but my guess is that eventually it will come. My son and husband play.

More likely to see at the resort. At poly Oasis pool a mom, dad and college age? Daughter were playing at the tables at the pool.

We just received a Lorcana card as part of our D23 Gold membership renewal. Is it a board game, an online game, or what?

Collectable card game a la Magic: the Gathering. It’s played tabletop with physical cards.
So do you win cards from your opponents and get to keep them?

I'm thinking we'll carry this card around with us in December, and if we happen to see someone playing (doesn't sound likely in the parks, but maybe in a resort), we'll offer it to them. No one in our family plays or is likely to start playing.

My son is very into this card game. He bought cards. Built a deck. Each card has something it does in the game.

Nope, the way these types of games work is you buy a starter deck and use that to play. Getting new cards generally involves buying booster packs of random cards (some are duds, some can be rarer, more powerful cards), or separately trading them with people, kinda like pin trading, or buying individual ones on the collector’s market (usually rarer ones that go for a lot of money). But you don’t actually play other people to get cards.

One card definitely isn’t enough to play a game with, you’d have to buy enough for a deck. Idk about Lorcana specifically but I was a M:tG player for quite a while when it first came out and all these games generally work along the same lines, just the rules of the specific games are different. The one you got from D23 may be some kind of exclusive card that isn’t ever found in the booster packs you can buy.

It’s not yet in the level of what pin trading was. It still has some growing to do before it becomes as common in the parks.

In relation to the Lorcana card I hope to give away, can any of y’all recommend a way to identify potential recipients? Should I hang around the Lorcana card displays in the gift shops? If someone were playing in the park, would they be sitting down?

My son is sitting beside me as I read this to him, lol, he said he will gladly take it.

I've never played, or even seen the cards, but I did look at a how-to-play video. I'd say you have to be seated with a flat surface like a table or the floor between the players. You may be more generous in giving the card away than you realize.

I don't play CCGs, but I don't see how Lorcana would take off in the parks unless Disney started providing places to play at and a way for people to find each other to meet up. Considering that folks in Epcot have to sometimes resort to using trash cans for dining tables, I don't see valuable playing space being a priority... well, ever. Plus, people would have to take time out of their park day to devote to playing (so if it's kids playing, parents would have to be cool with just lingering around while their kid plays).

This sounds more like a resort activity - you'd still need a way to find people to play though.
