Hi everyone! Sorry it has been so long! Things have been crazy around the Schwetje house!!!

I wanted to share this adorable quote I just came across...

"Disney...a people trap run by a mouse!"

You may have heard that already but I figured I would share with those who have not.

I hope all is well with everyone!!!

Oh is Planky coming on this cruise?!? A cruise with Captain AND planky? Legendary........ hehe :)

We got a Wii too! I am now a professional bowler ... whodathunk?! Are you sore from the Wii yet? Mike and I started out a little sore, but after 72 hours of play .. not so sore anymore.
My arm was killing me (pro tennis player now LOL It was much easier once I figured out I could play BOTH people on my side- I got up to 770 on tennis JUST playing as the person in the back and serving LOL) but it's feeling bit better now. The first day I played 4hrs straight (at night while kids asleep) and then kept playing the next night and I thought my arm was gonna fall off. It really gives those arm muscles a work out (i also did baseball and bowling- but mostly tennis) and now I'm worried my right arm is gonna get all buff and left arm will still be a weak thing. LOL

We are interesting in going, however worry about taking our kids out of school. How many of you are taking your kids out of school for this?
We would have taken our kids out of school for this (oldest one in highschool totally depending on her grades) but now I've been homeschooling them all so now we can go when we want. :)

The Wii is GREAT! We were addicted, and sore from the start! We got Wii Fit for Christmas this year, and my waist was sore from hoola hooping!!!
I'm better at hoola hooping on Wii than in real life. :lmao:

We love our WII also. We bought one to bring in the RV with us. We too are bowling pros! :lmao: :rotfl2:
hmm, I hadn't even thought about bringing it in the rv with us! what a great idea! LOL

Holey moley, where did all of you get the Wiis from???? I can't find one to save my life (except on eBay, and I refuse to pay $400 for one). :confused3
I got ours on ebay- right after our last cruise (ie: returned in Sept) but the prices did go up closer to christmas (I was just looking to be nosey LOL) I bet if you wait just a bit when the supply goes up again after the big Christmas demand that the price will go back down. I got the kids Wii games -almost all of them- on ebay as well- much cheaper than buying in the store (and most of them were still new) but they also got a ton of gamecube games because they have a gamecube but also those games work on the wii- with the regular controller and not the remote though. The gamecube games are much cheaper especially on ebay- bought in large lots of games it's like dirt cheap. :)

Thanks for the algae photo- now I know what a Planky is, lol. My imagination was running wild. :-)

I'm working for NY too- I've never been much for celebrating NYE. I'll probably get the tree and decorations down this weekend and make a new door wreath or something to hang for spring which feels like it's already arrived here in Orlando. I have a bazillion scrapbooks to work on too. I can't go on another cruise w/o finishing the scrapbooks from my last ones ( NY resolution= finish my DCL scrapbooks!). What are everyone's NY resolutions? I have one other- learn another language- thinking of using the Rosetta Stone program from the library to learn Italian or French.---Kathy

I need to do my pics from last cruise also!!

Ok, that has to be question of the week
My new years res is to do a proper marathon, Ive done lots of halfs but no fulls yet.
I had a TO DO list for when I got thin and a half marathon was one,now after being "normal" rather than thin for 3 year I am looking for a new challenge.

I know a bit of spanish and portugese but only cause Ive been lots, now my hubby is polish hence the name Zabek! so when we go to visit his family in poland they speak NO english, it is hard going but really makes you try! LAst time we over they are getting a lot more english speaking tourists since the eu took them in. Anyway after a week of having to talk polish I got got to the airport and thought I was great when I asked for 2 large t-shirts in polish, of course now it is just like spain and france, they answered me back in perfect English:headache: I think it is so rude to do this!!
Hi everyone! Sorry for the absense but I will be back soon.

I wanted to share this adorable quote I just came across...

That is so funny, I knew they had me, but that puts a funny slant on it!

HAve a great day, just finishing night shift, hanging waiting for day shift to arrive and let me home.Quiet though in bed for most of it.:woohoo:

DH also got a WII for Christmas. So far we have only played WII Sport. I like bowling and he likes tennis.

Me too...gotta do my Panama one before we leave for Russia in May.

Dear Planky- sorry I had you confused with Algae. You are an adorable green furry being who I hope to meet in "person" one day along with any other micro-beings, or ahem...microbes.---Kathy

We are interesting in going, however worry about taking our kids out of school. How many of you are taking your kids out of school for this?

We will be. When we booked we were homeschoolers (well ,we still ar at the moment) so thought THAT would be a non issue. Now the kids will be in school in Germany (where homeschooling is illegal:confused3 --but we found a great school for them) and the school there already knows they will be gone for two-three weeks in September 2010. They will be in 7th and 9th grade I believe (though we are still unsure if they are being "placed" based on the grades they started in school and have been homeschooled in or by age--we lived in a district with a very late cut off for starting kindergarten when they began school so they are younger than most kids in their classes).

What are everyone's NY resolutions? I have one other- learn another language- thinking of using the Rosetta Stone program from the library to learn Italian or French.---Kathy

Good Question of the Week!:thumbsup2 I never really make new year's resolutions (I am weird that way:rolleyes: ) but I do know I have to learn German. Heidelberg is such an international city some people live there for years and never really pick up German. I refuse to do that. So, that is my goal for the comming year--to get out there and learn a new language while I have such a great oppurtunity to do so.

Kellie has had a grand total....dun, dun ,dun....of ONE interview since October. I am hoping it picks up after the 1st of the year. :confused3 Or we will have to seriously consider moving out of state. The good news is, we settled with the insurance company about a past claim....and I have won a couple Texas Hold 'Em Tourneys. I have booked a Western for May at the good Cat 12 GTY rate with my "windfall."

Congrats on the settlements and the poker winnings.

Jewel--you and Kellie will continue to be in my thoughts. I know it is so stressful when jobs are scarce and you lack one:hug: Lots of my old Detroit friends are in your boat and it is frightening no doubt about it. Hopefully things will pick up after the new year--even in a strong economy very few compamies hire in the last quarter. If not, and you do end up moving, that really can be a fun adventure if you approach it that way (we have been in 5 states since we got married almost 13 years ago, and we'll add Germany in before our anniversay as well:) ) Look on the bright side, you might move somewhere where the laws are more friendly to you and Kellie:goodvibes

I have only really played the sports games that came with it. We also have the game that has ski ball and darts and others (I think it's called party games, or carnival games), which can be fun, but we are perfectly happy sticking to bolwing and tennis.

Renting them before hand is a good idea.

Thanks! You are the third person who mentioned Carnival to me .. .think that' one we'll have to try. Apparently, there are a few Carnival games. We rented one, and it only had 6 games, and it wasn't the right one. Then we rented Cars, but we either too uncoordinated, too old, or too overwhelmed to figure it out.

Mike and I are going to attempt to learn un pequito de espanol. Yeah, see. That should be fun.

We say we're going to take ballroom dancing lessons. We were supposed to do that 4 years ago before our wedding. Now if we take them, we just need a DeLorean.

And, we are going to get some of our estate in order. I figure it's about time to get "pull the plug" in writing. I mean my family knows to do that. They weren't happy that I chose Christmas Eve last year to announce it. But they know. Now I just need to go to legalzoom.com and make it so, I dunno, legal for them to do that.

I took care of this a while back (living will, durable power of attorney, etc.). I told my sister, if I can't laugh at a joke...pull the plug.:lmao:

Afternoon all. Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Ours was good. We managed to survive through the family fun lol! No it was great! I spent 3 nights at home mainly with my mum which was great fun as we don't often get to spend time together like that.

Dan went home to his mums for 2 nights and then out with his mates for a night. He enjoyed it but we both missed each other and it was nice to come home on Sunday.

I spent all today cooking, which means that the house smells like cakes! Still not sure what we're doing tomorrow as Dan and me are ill again! Oh well. Hope everyone has a great time tomorrow

**... Pokes head into thread ... **

Hello! My husband and I gave ourselves this cruise as a Christmas giftie! It meant that we had to give up the cruise we had planned for October 2009 but since we've already sailed an Eastern Caribbean itinerary it didn't bother us too much.

We got a great quote from Dreams that included airfare and are sooooo excited to able to take such a unique trip. We've never been to Europe and while this will only be a very small taste at least it's a start.

My name is Brenda and my hubby is Jason - we've been on two Disney cruises (a Western in 2004 and an Eastern in 2005) and love visiting WDW in October for the Food and Wine Festival. We're DINKS who love to eat and drink and laugh ... we're both pretty silly but we like it that way.

I do most of the posting so most likely I'll be the one chatting with ya over the next 20 months or so. We're really looking forward to getting to know everyone and sailing in 2010!

Brenda :goodvibes

Welcome aboard! I'm Sarah and I'm travelling with my sig other Dan. This will be his first cruise and my 5th (2 of which were the previous TA's). Dan had his first trip to Disney this year to Food and Wine and he absolutely loved it! I'm sure youre going to have a great time on this cruise!

We got a wii for Christmas too (in addition to this cruise ... being DINKS can be so much fun sometimes ... ;) ) and we're both totally addicted.

Sad to say but we've basically spent our entire Saturday playing with the wii ... :lmao:

LOL I know that feeling! Prob spent all of Sunday in pain!

We got a Wii too! I am now a professional bowler ... whodathunk?! Are you sore from the Wii yet? Mike and I started out a little sore, but after 72 hours of play .. not so sore anymore.

LOL The bowlings fantastic! My Dad used to be in a bowling team and I've never been able to beat him in real bowling but I can on wii bowling!

The Wii is GREAT! We were addicted, and sore from the start! We got Wii Fit for Christmas this year, and my waist was sore from hoola hooping!!!

You just reminded me I need to get the wii fit out as had it since just before christmas and still haven't used it!

We love our WII also. We bought one to bring in the RV with us. We too are bowling pros! :lmao: :rotfl2:

LOL

What other Wii games do you guys like?

The Wii is brand new to us, and we very much like the baseball and bowling.

But we rented a few games and either didn't get them or they didn't hold our interest. So we are looking for other really addictive games. Your recommendations are most welcome.

Some of our faves are Carnival Games, Mario Karts, Brain Academy and Pop Star I think its called (the one with the microphone). All are brilliant! Spent all of boxing day on the singing one. Oh and Star Wars Lego is fantastic!

They have been pretty readily available around here this year, but couldn't be found last Christmas.

The Wii Fit was very hard to find before Crhistmas this year, I lucked out on Black Friday. You should get lucky now that the holidays are over.

We were lucky and managed to nab a wii fit just the week before christmas! Checked on an online stock checkist and up it came.

I have only really played the sports games that came with it. We also have the game that has ski ball and darts and others (I think it's called party games, or carnival games), which can be fun, but we are perfectly happy sticking to bolwing and tennis.

Renting them before hand is a good idea.

Carnival Games is fantastic! We're lucky over here as you can trade in games if you don't like them in some of the shops so you can get a different game effectively! Some games you don't get much for but others you get a lot for.

I need to do my pics from last cruise also!!

Ok, that has to be question of the week

Dan's learning Spanish at the moment. Actually got him a Spanish Coach for the wii game so he can practise! I'm sure he'll have fun with it.

DH also got a WII for Christmas. So far we have only played WII Sport. I like bowling and he likes tennis.

Corinna

Oh the tennis one I find a nightmare! Mind you not as bad a baseball!!!!!

Anyway on the cruise last time they had Wii tennis on in the Promande lounge the one day I think!

Oh QOTW:

I don't really have a resolution this year as I never stick to it so trying not to bother this year

Our full list of wii games is:
Wii Sports
Wii Fit
Mario Karts
Kabookii - not played yet as need more than 2 people to play it which I didn't know so have to save it for a group play
Guiness World Records - turned on but couldn't play as not enough nunchunks! didn't realise everyone needed one
Tom Clancys Splinter Cell - Dans which he has yet to play
My Spanish Coach
Resident Evil 4
Carnival Funfair Games
Lego Star Wars the Complete Sage
Big Brain Academy

We've also played:
Smarty Pants - great for groups!
Pop Star - might be called super star the one with the microphone where you sing and dance
Wii Music - which is the only game I haven't enjoyed!
Lego Indiana Jones - fantastic!
Who Wants to be a Millionaire

I am not a bowling pro yet... But I do beat DH every time! my arms are not screaming at me anymore! That boxing hurt!
So far we have really enjoyed the mario and sonic olympics game. It is so fun! And we really love Mario Kart

We also have Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Ratatouille, Bully (came with the consol) and a Sonic game. DH tried the Harry Potter game today and that looks like a lot of fun.

Corinna

hey all......sorry haven't posted in a little bit...busy busy here....have been off my full time job but not on vacation because we have cheerleading practice every day during school break and my squad has been dealing with all kinds of stress, setbacks, drama, etc. with the squad (OY!! it makes me glad I'm just the coach and not the PARENT of a teenage girl!! :lmao: )....and all this as we try to get in competition shape so I've been very pre-occupied....

as for resolutions.....I have two:

1.) Jason and I made the obligatory fitness/weight resolution and are starting a diet and exercise program to get in better shape.

and

2.) In light of the above-mentioned drama....I'm making a resolution not to throw any of my cheerleaders out of a moving bus!!! :rotfl2:

Hey Feenie:wave2: We should try to meet up at the Italian Farm House in Plymouth (like we once spoke of--a little NH mini meet) sometime in the next few weeks--while I am still legitamately an NHDisneylover! Are you game?

(OY!! it makes me glad I'm just the coach and not the PARENT of a teenage girl!! :lmao: )....

OMG! I laughed so hard when I read that resolution! I'm at work and it's crazy and that just made my day! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Gosh we must be old and really out of touch.:lmao:
We DON'T have a Wii or any other game system:eek:

When the kids were at home we had an Atari, anybody remember those?
Pac man and Pong games.
Guess i'll have to ask one of my kids if they have a Wii and let me see what all the fun is about.:confused3 I'm sure if they dont have one, one of the grandkids will.

Teenage girls, you have my sympathy.
I can't imagine a squad of them to coach:scared:
I had enough trouble raising 2 of them;) My hats off to you for being able to stick it out:worship: :worship: :worship:
Hope you dont pull out your hair while coaching them, I know I would:rolleyes1

Good luck, your going to need it:goodvibes

Kathy, you NEED to get a WII. It is great for us old folk and for the RV. I never liked video games since Pong. :rotfl2: I tried PacMan on the Atari and hated it. It made me really nervous with that little guy chasing me!! :sad2: Never played any games since. But the WII is just way different. It gets us up off the couch! Love, love, love it!

That sounds like a lot of fun... When do you leave?
We are quite booked the next 3 weekends, but we can hopefully work something out.
