Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.10

I'm 45 and i did like it a lot, but you were also painting Belle in the youthclub.

Connie

yep that was me

i really enjoyed that painting it was so relaxing .. being a kid again god i do not get that chance so often. Sadly i missed the volcano I love that they opened the kids stuff to the adults.. the adult flubber was so funny especially the cast member playing the mad professor. it was brave of disney to let it be adult - and very cool. That comment about white powder was so funny.

beauty and the beast is one of my favourate films. I love the message and i really relate to the feeling Belle has about adventure. I became an archaeologist for the adventure and i am probably at my happiest when travelling and seeing new places and meeting new people. I like that challenge and change.

I really share peoples views i love the parks but really the best interactions and service was on the ships, mind you there were some great ones in the park ... mini was great as was mickey when i told them where i had just come from.

OK, I changed by reservation to the WBTA again, locked in, paid, room 7506, done........wahoooooooooo!!!
Anyone else? I think Noel said she was going? Come on guys, Lyn and Len? Sarah and Dan? Sarah and Tony? Anyone?...........:goodvibes

Hi Hayley .. congratulations on your booking. We would love to do it all again. It is on our list of possibilities but it all depends on DD Taryn's possible employment on the college programme at WDW. Once we have confirmation of whether she has been accepted on that, we can plan 2011.

Im so enjoying the pics! Good going everyone :thumbsup2

Sooooo..... we have a cruise booked! Im so excited:cheer2:
5 May 2012 on the Fantasy!:cool1::cool1::cool1:
I picked the room 8500, it's a handicapped room with a porthole that looks out to the FRONT of the ship!!!

The cruise is booked out that far because at lunch yesterday(under the London Bridge) there are some BIG changes being made with Howard job:yay::woohoo: shhhhhh cant tell ya now it's a secret. And all good.

So to pass the time this week, Im training harded for my recycle race, and costume pass by. The race is a 5k and all runner receive a parstispant award, and the pass by is a fashion show of Halloween costumes... me: Im a reindeer, antlers and all:lmao: Howard dressing as himself, hmmmmm, perhaps I can get him to wear a white beard:lmao: and go as Santa!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Anyway... we are all good here and looking foward to a new adventure: 2012

Miss ya all...:flower3:

Annie

Congratulations on booking for 2012 .... as much as we would love to be able to book that far ahead it is impossible because of work schedules. I can now book leave for up to April 2012 but no further. Next year is totally dependent on Taryn. Good luck with your training .... we need to see photos of your costumes :thumbsup2. Intrigued about Howard's new job ... did he get a job as a massage therapist on DCL ????

(((HUGS)))

That is terrible! As far as the CM's on board, they are wonderful but the stories I have heard about some of the CMs landside it just makes me shake my head.

When I joined the Marines, I wrote a check to the American people payable up to and including my life. So it really pains me to say that, in my opinion, what you're seeing is related to where the CMs are from. In the parks, they're mostly Americans, part of the "me" generation. Spoiled, no personal responsibility, no traditional family values, no pride in performance. Yes, Disney tries to hire the best but they have to draw from the available labor pool.

DCL, on the other hand, draws from an international labor pool that, for the most part, is still steeped in traditional values. Plus, the wages are relatively high compared to their home countries, so they're happy with that aspect (although getting less so, especially for the eastern European countries).

Of course, there's the other side of the picture: look at all the wonderful people on board (like the DISers) vs. the hoards of "me first" people in the park. I don't think I'd be able to maintain a happy face confronted with that on a daily basis!

Just my two cents.

I do not disagree with any of that and in the Parks it was usually the problems with guests not necessarily with cast members. I think being a cast member in WDW must be really hard. On the cruise ship while its alot of work most people are decent enough.

Although i would say the "me attitude" its not restricted to the USA the younger people of the UK are a continual embarressment I saw a group of girls verbally assaulting a woman and 3 year old kid last week because they had red hair ... god really ... I ran the scum bags off.

There does seem in disney world a lack of care in Downtown I saw a toilet that was not cleaned and was covered in YOU KNOW WHAT. I saw a cast member custodian nearby in his white and blue uniform and told him and he just laughed. At the entrance I found a cast member team leader and told him and he was shocked and told me he would sort it out.

I have done some bad jobs to get me through university in my teens which included being a cleaner at a bakery and that was not pleasant. I know that i need to work to make money and really i care little what i have to do. But that was just bad service.

I still think there are good cast members over at WDW and good guests. I met a very nice older man at mickeys toon town tent who worked just on weekends. But I have to admit I do not remember many cast members from WDW and I remember many of them on the DCL cruise.

In my experience if people are idiots they are idiots wherever they are or from whatever country they are from.

Sue - I sent you a PM with the contact info for the TA.

I went through all of the port schedules last week and put together a calendar, and was going to say that it looks like a Western cruise that you're heading for in sept 2012. Since the schedule shows the Fantasy continuing on the same schedule as the first part of the summer, I assume it'll be the same schedule as they have now for 2012 Fantasy Westerns (Cayman/Cozumel/Costa Maya but no Key West.) Key West doesn't have any Disney ships showing after May 1st. The Magic is showing as starting bi-weekly Cayman stops on 9/25/12 and continuing on through 4/23/13, which we're all assuming means they'll be doing a modified western out of Galveston or someplace other than PC.

Looks like my gut feeling that the Magic would do Europe in the summer and Middle/ Far East in the winter from 2012 onwards did not prove to be correct. Well, there is still the possibilities of summers in Europe with those timings.

Hi,

I did it! I talked DH into the Panama Canal cruise in January. Finally got it booked this morning. Looking forward to seeing some of you on that one.

I am so excited. When I unpacked from WBTA I put all the cruise items in a box so would be able to get to it for next cruise. I didn't think it would be this soon. So now we are on a countdown of 77 days!

Also have tentative res for Alaska on Aug 30, 2011.

Thank you to all of you for making the cruise such a great one!!!!!!

Judy

I am glad that you are going to join us on this one. We booked the Panama Canal cruise while we were on the Magic

I'm going to WDW !!!!!!!

Okay for those of you on the PC cruise just pass over this post as I posted it there already. I'm soooo excited I had to post twice!

I am taking my DS (31) to WDW. He has never been and he is about to have a major change in his life so this might be the last Mother/Son expedition, at least for a long time. His girlfriend is expecting the first of May. We are all excited for them but......his life will change. He has been single and free to do as he pleased for a long time. I have her blessing in taking him with me.

As some of you know, my planning starts late. Both for the WBTA and the PC cruise 80 days out I booked. Now for WDW....well, made the decision this morning to go Monday, so I'm flying to Phoenix on Sunday then my son and I will fly to Orlando Monday and return Friday. I am really looking forward to it, he is a fun person to have a playdate with.

I love seeing all the pictures from the cruise. I have organized mine (over 8000 between my friend and me) and will start making a digital scrapbook soon. I'm going to an advanced digital scrapbook workshop in San Jose in two weeks so hope to get most of it done then. Gotta get better with Photoshop.

Sorry for the rambling, just so excited.

Judy :banana::banana::banana:

I hope you will have a wonderful time.

Don't forget Sothern Ontario:thumbsup2

Sounds like you were not the only one to experience problems after leaving the ship. The resort check in was a mess and that delayed us. We kept our eyes open. Did see you one day as we were coming out of the Pirates ride but we were to far back to catch up. Candida and I really had a hard time in WDW this year. It felt like the magic of Disney stayed on the Magic. We did manage to bump into Jason one day. That helped turn the feelings around. We came to the conclusion that the big thing was on the ship it is very personalized and friendly. But in the parks the friendliness isn't because the recognize you it's because they are supposed to be happy.

We booked for Dec 2011 but that will be changing to something in 2012. Just not sure.

We have a room and time to be tour guides if you make it to Southern Ontario.

Now for some post cruise disappointment:
I meant to order a stateroom gift for Candida before we left Canada, but forgot. So, I had my dad order it for me. When we got into the stateroom the gift was there (well 50% of it). Thinking I misread what was included in the gift or that my dad ordered the wrong thing, and just because we had other things to do, I never went to guest services about it. When we got home I confirmed that 50% of the gift was missing. So, I tried to call DCL. They said that since we had completed the cruise I had to go through the guest services via email. Off goes the email explaining the not all the gift was in the stateroom. Now I am not looking for anything over and above what is missing, it is small enough to put in a standard sized envelope and mail it.

This is the reply we get: "I have spoken with our amenities team and they advised that the pendant is attached to the Winnie the Pooh pillow. They also pulled the amenity card that you signed onboard confirming that you received all of the purchased items. However, as a goodwill gesture, I would be happy to send you a $20 shipboard credit voucher that may be used on your next Disney Cruise Line vacation. This voucher will arrive via postal mail in10-14 business days."

Well, two things are wrong. The pendant never was there and the pillow has been checked over several times. It wasn't even taken out of the packaging until we got home. Second, we never signed anything. I replied that we have pictures of our stateroom and the pillow from the time we walked into the door. Nowhere can you see the pendant and that we never did sign for it.

They replied with scan of the signature card. And, surprise surprise it wasn't either of our signatures. The tone of the this email from them came across to me as "We are giving you a OBC in the value of 50% of the gift price so what is the problem." Well now my problem is that someone is forging signatures and the only way someone get any rectification is to take another cruise just to get a $20 OBC.

We'll have to see what they say now. Still waiting for the next reply from them. They did give us a phone number to call direct but there was no answer.

Sorry for the long email, just ranting.
Jon

Oh, what a shame that we did not get to meet up. I had the same happen with Chris and Michelle. I saw them in the distance at Epcot.

I am sorry that you had so much trouble with the stateroom gift. I noticed when I downloaded the photos from the CD that all the photos from semi-formal night are missing plus some others as well. I know that we were given a sheet with thumbnails to check, but Shutters was so busy, we were in a rush and I honestly did not notice. I am going to scan some of the photos in question that I bought as hard copies and I am going to email them to see if they can fix this.

I like to ask you all, what places must i visit in LA? And where is the place to have a hotel in LA?

Connie
I have to be honest with you, I didnt really enjoy LA.

Jason, I could give you a hundred examples, its not just the usa and it def not just kids, I know a lot of folks that think they are the centre of the universe, as this is a public forum I have to leave it at that, but just remember I work with the general public.Add to that no common sense and not very much respect either.

Well said Jason, totally agree! ;)

Hi everyone,

Now that we're back, I'm pretty much back in my lurker mode.

I sure wish we could book another cruise right now, but the B2B has pretty much flattened our purse right now, but I'm sure we'll be booking later for something.

Regarding photos - YIKES!!!! I've been sorting out all our pictures (we each had a camera). And with the fact that I'm going through 24 days of pictures (I think we're up around 1500 pictures, at least) it's taking me a little while.

DH reported that he saw someone at DL with the WBTA shirt on and asked them if they were on the cruise. They said yes, but (like a good little DH) he didn't ask her name. So, whoever you were, HI!

:cutie:

Wouldn't you love to plunk some of these "me first" people somewhere where they'd actually have to work for food, shelter, etc., and which would make them realize that no one owes them anything?

We have also sadly noted the decline in people's willingness to take responsibility for their own actions and in polite behavior towards others. Now we are surprised by someone's courtesy, like when you hold a door open for another and actually are thanked for it. (Do you remember when we called it "common courtesy"? It is not at all common now.)

I don't know if you've seen this commercial where a woman stops a delivery man from stepping out in front of a car. This action is observed by another person, who then performs an act of kindness for someone else, etc., etc, back to the woman who started it. My kids' comments were something like, why wouldn't you do that anyway? Exactly.

On a happier note, we loved the camaraderie of our WBTA DIS group, and we really wish we could have a "do-over." Cash-wise, I doubt we'll be doing any of the longer cruises in the near future though :sad1:.

:cloud9::grouphug: This was an amazing group, wasn't it? And you just never know, sometimes the longer ones are not so bad. Inside stateroom we did the PC 2008 for $100 a day each. (3000 total for the 2 of us) We thought that was a bargain. We are waiting impatiently to see what the Magic and Wonder are up to in summer 2012. :rolleyes1

Sounds like a good reality show--but no one who actually needs to learn that lesson would volunteer.

I'll definitely have to keep an eye on the prices. There's not much better than 2 weeks of no cooking, no cleaning, and FABULOUS company. Yes, this means you!

Do you think there'll be any more PC repos?

Isn't that the truth!

sadly that is so true this afternoon I was crossing the road about half way across a guy in a car turned into the road without indicating and then gave me alot of abuse. Then some scumbag kid on my way home who was cycling on the pavement (which is illegal) nearly knocked me over then told me how wrong I was not to get out of his way.

We have rebooked next years, though we didn't meet onboard. Also Valbob has and Custard Tart(Karen).

With regard to being disappointed with WDW this time it seems quite a few of us were. Someone said to us that DCL do us a disservice in that they set the bar very high. Some friends of ours cancelled some dinner reservations as they said Disney weren't getting any more money from them as they had some poor experiences. They are choosing to cruise next year rather than go to WDW. It really seemed that nearly all the TA cruisers we saw afterwards were feeling similar. Not everything was disappointing of course, but it does seem something has slipped recently. I think John would rather not go and give money to Disney in future as he had a poor experience with some housekeeping boss at the BWV, but I fear our little boycott wouldn't hurt Disney at all!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I agree I am sort of regretting going to Disney world this year .. i enjoyed it but it was not as great as it was in 2008. There were just things did not ring as being disney, the chaos with the character lines, the lack of cleaning of toilets, the housekeeping I know did not change my sheets for about 3 days! There seemed less days where the parks were open late which is a big benefit for people staying on site hotels.

I will not be going back for a few years now to Disney world and I am not sure if I will spend the cash to stay on disney property again for a while.

I think you maybe right they may not notice they seem to be going for bulk not quality and the service is dropping alot.

Sigh I feel sad about that I hope the same does not happen on DCL

Canada has it's fair share of these people as well. :headache:

We have decided not to go in 2011 just did a booking for the MV of the Fantasy in April 2012. Anyone joining us. Not going to go to the parks after. Just DCL.

On a side note actually spoke to a CM in regards to the stateroom gift. Now they are trying to find an extra pendant. But, of course it is something that is dealt with by a third party. They are looking into the signature issue, we hope that it wasn't actually the stateroom host. He was really good and he did have us sign for other items. Don't believe he would have signed Candida's name when he had us sign other things. Plus, Candida never signed for anything so he wouldn't have had a sample of her signature to copy. Problem is someone else mayhave signed it but when it comes down to it he will be the one to most likely be blamed.

Yes I would love a do-over. But I do not see this in the near future. Glenn and I thought about it until we notice the air was now $3000.00 So I can not see any long cruise in our future either. Also there are very few do-overs in our group.

I do not think we could ever re-create the magic we felt. I think it is too soon to even try,

I so miss the fun we all had together. All we can hope for is mini meets. Which Glenn and I will be absent from the first one :(

I have yet to post my pics of the cruise. But there are some nice pics of our table group. Me bad I know. ( Boo ,that grammar was for you):lmao:

Hugs all :)

Hi Ruth E. I'll trade you a fly for that bad grammar :rotfl2: .

LAst weekend, I had 6 cats in the hospital, 2 owners (not there cats) took up 50% of my time, visiting and on the phone, they could see they were taking my time away from the animals, obviously there need was greater rather than being able to nurse my patients on my shift.Because we are private we cant say anything. You get 4 phone calls for one cat from evey family member, why would you do that? because THEY are more important than the other patients I have that have the sense to get one person to call, its very frustrating when I am busy.moan over. and that is 1 example out of a hundred of things that poeple wouldnt have done many years ago.
