Am I missing something? Why can't I just pay for my resort reservation online?

I can not for the life of me figure out why Disney will not let you pay online for a room only reservation.

Cause they want you to buy tickets first. lol

Ya just did it. Wasn't too bad. I combined all my cards and paid off the entire balance. Feel better now not carrying such a large gift card balance lol. Also I can remove the cards on the gift card site that are zero balance and add more. Thanks for the info

Some unsolicited advice - delete all your GCs from the site and add them back when you want to transfer balances, then delete them again. On the Budget Board are multiple reports of people’s accounts being hacked and funds being stolen from there. The risk might be small, but why take a chance when it’s so easy to do?

Thanks for the tip! Much appreciated. I read through a thread from 2022. Seems 2fa is now enabled on the gift card site. Combined with email 2fa, the risk seems very low. However I still deleted all my cards just to be sure

Thanks. I went ahead and called. The music is often static-y when I call. Maybe it's just my phone but it's literally been that way for years.

I had to select options several times

1. To select English
2. To select Disney World in Florida
3. To select that I already have a reservation
4. To select payments
5. To select that I don't know the extension number of a cast member to speak with

It took about 25 minutes (including the time it took to select the options above) to be connected with a cast member. So the total time was about half an hour.

I just wish there was a way to do it online. I could have sworn I used to be able to pay it online, many years ago-even without a package.

Edited to add: I wanted to use redemption rewards from my Chase Disney visa to pay the room balance, so that's why I wanted to pay it off before my arrival date, instead of just letting my card on file be automatically charged.

On one trip in the past 5 years I did lose a DGC, but I had a back up one that was empty. I had all digits written down and I transferred the funds within two minutes of realizing it. No problem. But I had anticipated me doing this before we left.
Someone may have had the card in there possession, but they they didn't have the funds in thier possession.

1 night is totally different because when making an RO reservation, you pay a deposit equal to the cost of the first night of your stay plus tax. So you are already paying it in full. It's when you have multiple nights and you have a balance after you pay the deposit, you cannot make any payments online towards that balance unless you call.

I wonder if this holds true for Universal? I made a reservation there last year when we visited, and paid the deposit from my CC. I couldn't find a way to pay it off online anywhere. Maybe it's not that unusual for this to happen. I just had the remainder of the resort to pay with additional charges to my CC or room. Just wanted to mention this is at Universal too. I am going to call them and see if I can pay the balance online. I never thought that was an option. Thanks for the information.
