No worries, Newark airport is perfectly safe/clean too. Plenty of nice shops to kill time in.
My apologies to your DH for any extra money you may spend. We leave out of Kennedy Airport on 9/9.

Note to self: Bring fabreeze to spray Margaret with before dinner :lmao:

:lmao::lmao::lmao: funny

Oh no ... we fly into Newark to catch our flight to Barcelona and have a four hour layover there

Sorry to hear the boss was such a jerk, as an employer myself I just can't believe that he wouldn't honor your time off after having so much advanced notice, it just shows really poor management skills to not be able to work around one person's vacation time. :headache: Definitely sounds to me like he thought his position was in jeopardy from you.

On a positive note; you will have a little more time to prepare for the cruise ... so put on your favorite movie and sit & crochet FE gifts to your hearts content :goodvibes

:hug::hug:

:cool1: heres your princess pat, not got pic in a princess dress yet but got one on order ready for tea
630-1.jpg

Sweet!! And she even has her mouse ears! I almost bought those same ears for the Mickey Mouse Club night!

Way to go Pat! :woohoo: I am sure something much better is waiting just around the corner for you but it's not going to appear until after the cruise so you have time to relax & get those FE gifts done. ;)

I'm excited - mojitos are one of my favorite drinks - so refreshing and they go down easy, which is both good AND bad. :lmao:
Mine too, they taste lovely :) Wish DCL would hurry up and let me know what's happening with the tastings!

I said, "Well, I've got a lot to do before this trip, so I might as well give you this now," and handed him my bagger badge.

He looked a bit surprised, but said, "Okay." And that was it. I gave the Assistant Head Bagger a big hug and told her how much I enjoyed working for her, and walked out.

Brilliant Pat - way to go. :thumbsup2

in case you haven't looked at an updated copy of the list, my oldest DD will not be able to join us, so under Seamour it should be just me (Mic) and Sarah (13). :(

We did the character breakfast on the WBPC cruise in 2008. Our server reminded us the night before about the character breakfast being the next morning. I will make sure I ask our server this time when it is. I don't want to miss it.

I did not know they were building and Ariel's Undersea adventure in Florida? It must be part of the new Fantasyland. Can't wait until it's done. We are doing the 5 night New Year's Eve Double dip, Castaway Cay Dream Cruise and 3 nights in WDW, but I don't think the new Fantasyland will be done yet. I want to eat a the Be Our Guest resteraunt. Oh well, I will just have to go back when it is done.

Yes they are building a Little Mermaid ride in the new Fantasyland. The queue area is supposed to be a bit better than the one in California b/c they have more space to build. The official word is that Fantasyland will open in stages with most things open by 2013, but based on how far the construction has gone and what all needs to be done (just from what I can see at the park & in photos) I'll bet it won't be absolutely complete until 2014!

I remember when they first announced it, some of it was to be open by 2012, but I guess they need more time.

Fantasyland is still great though, so if you weren't much into Toontown, you won't feel like you're missing anything when you visit before the construction is over.

I'm excited - mojitos are one of my favorite drinks - so refreshing and they go down easy, which is both good AND bad. :lmao:

Yeah, that watermelon mojito looked pretty good. I don't know that I could drink all 4 though, so if I do that I'll have to pace myself!:rolleyes1

I said, "When you hired me, I told you I'd be away most of September."

He said, "You can't be off during case lot."

I said, "We'll be in the middle of the Atlantic. I can't possibly be here." (laughing)

He said, "Sorry."

Here's the thing, though. I know for a fact people have taken time off during case lot sales. There are more than enough baggers to cover this one, too. My being there or not doesn't affect him in any way - he makes his money from the baggers on his shift. (Everyone has to pay the HB or asst. HB to work their shift.)

I went over to Dennis's office and told him I'd quit. We had talked about it last night so he wasn't surprised. He did look a bit skeptical - it was a few extra dollars coming in - but when I told him I was going to be out of the job in two weeks, anyway, he was fine. I said, "I think we can live without the whopping $150 I'd've made during those two weeks." He said, "When you put it that way..." and took me to lunch. He's such a good guy. :lovestruc

Good for you Pat. Life is just too short to spend time & energy doing something in a negative environment. And where God closes a door......

Plus now you have more time to finish your FE's and pack!

hi, if no one else has replied i would love to be her fairy godmother, susie

:yay::yay::yay::yay: my sister will be so happy. Thank You. I'm sure your DH is very sad, my attempt at sarcasm. I'm positive they will be in a bar somewhere, saying :banana:, we don't have to go to tea.

We are so ecited, in case you could not tell.

(Snickering) - I just told Steve about this and he said he'll be at the pub, waiting for Brian :woohoo: Somehow the menfolk aren't as jazzed about this Tea as the ladies are!

Here's my wee Prince and Princess - they will be hosting Goofprincess, Hazel and Liesbeth :dance3: (this picture is almost a year old; Eilidh is much taller and has a ton of curly hair. Calum hasn't changed much, except for some adult teeth coming in :) )

:rotfl2::rotfl2:And now you have a bit of spare time do you fancy coming and doing my packing ?:rotfl2:

Okay, I just had an image of the two of us with our fabreeze, spraying Margaret down outside the restaurant! :lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2: oh no I hope I can outrun the two of you... but most likely I can't.But fabreeze has got to be better than kippers:laughing:

Way to go, Pat!! :cool1:

There was a trip report from the EBTA this year where the date printed on the ticket was incorrect and they didn't find out until after the last one had been held. So if you really, really, really want to attend, double checking would probably be a good idea.

I had read that as well. Definitely plan on double-checking! That would be a huge mistake!!!

Cute cute cute!!! :)

Pat,

Hugs to you and a special one for Dennis for being such a good man! I feel your pain. I quit a stable (though a bit boring job) at a University in the Fall of 2009 to take what I thought was a dream job. That dream job turned out to be the job from H E double hockey sticks in so many ways (including having a man shot dead about 100 yards from me). So, I left that job with no new job (and the full support of my DH), came home and slept for about 3 weeks (some how I got whooping cough...very odd) and then began to think about my next steps.

Well, before I could make my next step, a friend called and asked me to help him write a grant and it evolved into a crazy busy career as a consultant that I really do love.

I am sure you will find your "next thing" when you least expect it and it will turn out to be the best thing. I'm a big believer in the saying that when a door closes, a window opens.

Keri

We always do, too. I can guarantee, you made the day of any baggers who worked for you. The first couple of months were great. The money was good, most of the customers were very nice, and the people on my shift were awesome. The head bagger didn't work that shift, so I hardly ever had to deal with him. But I know what he did to other people.

Thanks, everyone, for all the hugs and encouragement! I was out running errands today and decided to stop at the commissary and get it over with. The HB was sitting on the baggers' bench (where we wait for a line to open), so I went over and said, "You needed to see me?" (The whole time, I was super-cool - voice didn't waver, crack, go up, or anything. Thank you, acting experience!)

He said, "You can't take time off during the case-lot sale. It's been on the calendar for 5 months." (Case-lot is exactly that - items for sale by the case. It's in the middle of the trip - the 16th to the 18th. I would only have worked the Friday anyway, as I don't work weekends.)

I said, "When you hired me, I told you I'd be away most of September."

He said, "You can't be off during case lot."

I said, "We'll be in the middle of the Atlantic. I can't possibly be here." (laughing)

He said, "Sorry."

Here's the thing, though. I know for a fact people have taken time off during case lot sales. There are more than enough baggers to cover this one, too. My being there or not doesn't affect him in any way - he makes his money from the baggers on his shift. (Everyone has to pay the HB or asst. HB to work their shift.) So I'm pretty sure it comes down to the other baggers wanting me to be HB. See, it's really hard for the other women who work there to stand up to him, b/c it's the only job they can get due to education and language limitations. They like me b/c I treat them respectfully. When they found out Dennis was an officer, that really won them over. "Officers' wives" don't bag groceries - or treat women who do like friends. (At least, in their experience.)

The joke's on him, b/c I didn't want the HB job, so I was no threat anyway. Now, though, as soon as word gets around about this (and I guarantee it already has), he will definitely be out when the time comes. And as one of my buddies will likely get the job, I'll be able to get my job back if I want it. Though hopefully, I'll have something else by that time and won't need it.

I went over to Dennis's office and told him I'd quit. We had talked about it last night so he wasn't surprised. He did look a bit skeptical - it was a few extra dollars coming in - but when I told him I was going to be out of the job in two weeks, anyway, he was fine.:banana: yes that is so true, life has a way of twisting and turning, and you never know what's around the corner

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Keri it's so great you have a job you love, it so much enriches your life if you can enjoy your work
