Oh man... I sure hope so! Maybe they're trying to put us all right next to each other so we don't have to walk so far to go visiting! lol

I know - I have stopped checking more than 1x per day, but I was just at the DCL site trying to see what kinds of rooms they have left. They are out of the 2 porthole rooms, and I'm not sure if that is because they gave them to all of us OGTs, or if they have really sold them and therefore we are assured a one porthole room...

That's very annoying! I can't believe you are just beginning your FE gifts. That would kind of stress me out. However, I only truly started mine this week I have been planning for many weeks so it is all coming together quickly.

Speaking of FE gifts, do you all get that sinking feeling like what you're giving isn't going to be good enough and no one will like it? As I'm making my things, I get this pit in my stomach that no one will like them. DH thinks I'm crazy... once again, he's probably right. (BTW: I'm by no means fishing for complements. Just wondering if any of you are tormenting yourself like I am.)

I totally felt that way! Especially since this is my first FE. I ended up ordering things instead of making things because I'm not very handy and when they came I thought - are these good enough?

I would be honored to rent one of your sweet boys, if the spot isn't already taken! I have two boys at home. They are now 15 and 10. I miss them being little.
That would be great! I just hope the P&P tea isn't the same day/time as our group 1 Palo brunch or my mojito or mixology tasting

OK, my dear sweet retired Larry is spending way too much time reading these boards :surfweb:....one of the first things he said to me when I got home from work today (before I even sat down!) was "Well, PFlamingo quit her job." :woohoo:I had to laugh! You'd think we all actually know each other.
I went over and said, "You needed to see me?" (The whole time, I was super-cool - voice didn't waver, crack, go up, or anything. Thank you, acting experience!)

JUST PERFECT, PAT!

Hence, the freedom to do it on my terms.

Something will come along. It always does. One thing I've learned in all these years - I lead a charmed life. I'm never down for very long.

My attitude, as well. I've always left jobs on my own terms, which definitely gets easier the older/more confident you get. There haven't been that many...only three positions in my field, and a short-term filler job with JC Penneys; I'm very loyal. But something better has always come along. I actually left my current job just before Christmas last year, then traveled with my family for a month. Two days after I got home, my boss was calling, asking me to come back. My replacement didn't work out (job was too hard :rolleyes1) and they really needed me. I thought a lot about it, but they offered me more hours (I'm part-time by choice), better benefits, and more money, so I returned. I was incredibly touched by the warm welcome I received from everyone and felt more respected/appreciated, which is all most people need to be happily employed :goodvibes. Do I like the job itself any more now than before? Not really, but my boss is more willing to share the load; I think she's afraid I'll leave again. Pat, I know something better is just around the corner....no, I mean another job, not just the Magic!

in case you haven't looked at an updated copy of the list, my oldest DD will not be able to join us, so under Seamour it should be just me (Mic) and Sarah (13). :(
So sorry that she won't be able to sail with you, but it will be a very special time for your youngest.:lovestruc

Yeah, that watermelon mojito looked pretty good. I don't know that I could drink all 4 though, so if I do that I'll have to pace myself!:rolleyes1

YUM! But you'll all have to help carry my 71 yr. old mom back to her cabin! She can't hold her liquor like she used to :cool1::lmao::rotfl2:(not that I can either...we'll be quite the sight). God help us if Mixology is on the same day!

DCL is still playing. Larry said there were several categories that came and went on the website today, with reservations unavailable part of the day. Good grief, this waiting game is annoying!

Fairy Godmothers - my offer still stands... but I do have 2 boys, which I know isn't as neat as having princesses to dress up. I'm not sure I will even dress them up - my 7 year old may not want to and I'm not sure I can find an outfit for the 3 year old in 20 days - which is how long it is until we leave :banana::banana:

I'll do it! All my grandsons are boys so that's right up my alley. Jean

So I finally got started on my FE gifts last night.

Printed some stuff on my computer, which I took the photocopy store today to get coppied....

When I got home tonight I settled down surrounded by my crafting tools to start assembling....

Only to discover that half of the stuff I got coppied was missing from the bag:mad:

Obviously the folks at the store didn't put it in there. GRRRRR

So now I've got to go back to the store tomorrow. And I was feeling so creative tonight too!

SW

I hate it when that happens and you get all of your things together for a project and find something is missing! I do this sometimes w/ a recipe and kick myself b/c usually I've already been to the grocery store that day. :headache:

Candy Swap - Update

I have added "STLUCIELADY" to group 1.

I hope everyone is ok with that.

I've never done a candy swap before- so bear with me while I ask a couple of questions.

1. I notice from the list that there are duplicate names on these. I have no issue with that. My question is- can I split the duplicates up and leave goodies on separate days or do I need to deliver 2 or 3 deliveries all at once? Thoughts anyone??

2. For those who signed up that STILL don't have stateroom assignments (sorry GTY people:() how will we be able to figure out where to deliver their goodies??

Thanks so much for all of your hard work!

I couldn't agree more about common courtesy, it's like common sense. :headache::headache: Right? Where, oh where, has it gone? :confused3

I felt that way last year, only to discover that most people don't give very large or homemade gifts. I think I overdid it a bit, but it was a learning experience. This year, I'm making (actually, more like assembling) something small for each cabin, with a little something extra for the kids. I'm still concerned people won't like them, but....oh, well. I'm lugging them in my carry-on bags on the plane, along with candy for the swap, so I'm hoping TSA won't give me a problem ;). I'll have an explanation ready (I'm going to a wedding and I'm in charge of the favors.....:rolleyes1)

Really, all your grandsons are boys? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thanks, I needed a good chuckle, and that was too cute.

The children are invited to a prince and princess tea, they are allowed to be escorted by 2 adults each. The adults can not go with out a prince or princess... so.... Some of us "Fairy God Mothers" are asking to "rent" escort a child to the tea.

We started this on the EBTA.. I think it may just catch on! I brought a small gift for my little Princess last time and will again this time. I think it would be a good thing for us Fairy God Mothers to bring a little surprise for our little Prince or Princess..... pixiedust:
I know it was awesome to see the smile on my Princess's face when I brought her a little gift.
What ya think Fairy God Mothers?

If there is any need out there for another Fairy Godmother for another princess.......I'll be glad to try out......what do you have to do? Change a pumpkin into a coach......magically make a pair of crystal slippers.....???? princess:princess: Sounds like a really cute idea! I would be glad to accompany a princess to tea if needed!

OMD!! That's so funny! Like being a character on a soap or something - "As the DISboard Turns." :lmao: :lmao: I'm famous!

BTW, I nearly spit my wine on my laptop when I read that.

I think (correct me if I'm wrong, Christina) you only give to the "repeaters" once. So if you're on list 1 you only need to give to "new" people on lists 2-4.

Oh, and regarding FE gifts, anything is fine! The fun is not so much in what you get, but in finding something in your FE (though Dennis and I love everything b/c we're really five years old).

My boys would love that - since their father isn't going on the cruise I'm sure they would be glad to have a guy around for a change, especially my 7 year old. In fact, my husband just got home after traveling for the last 2 weeks and they are all upstairs (so nice and quiet down here) having some guy time!

Just sent you a pm!

Great! So Heather can be my sons' Fairy Godmother at the Tea! And then either Jean or Josh, we are working it out on the PMs. Will someone step up to adopt one of them?

I think my 4 yo boy will love it! Although, I have to say, his favorite color is pink and he loves Tinkerbell and a couple weeks ago after I wore a skirt (which is a rare occasion) he said "Mommy, you look so pretty. Maybe I should get a princess dress"! :rotfl2:

So today I asked him if he wanted to go to a party with Princes and Princesses and dress like a Prince and he said yes. So just to be sure he understood he was going to be dressed as a PRINCE and not a PRINCESS, I started listing (male) characters he could dress like and he chose Aladdin. NOW I have to see if I can find an Aladdin costume and room to pack it before we leave...

That's another example of 'open mouth-insert foot'. I'm really really good at that. Also of not reading my replies before I post them. I can be your comedy relief anytime - just whistle. Jean

Turning to the bottle already??? The drama continues....can't wait for the next episode....:rotfl2:

How nice that so many folks want to be Fairy Godmothers and Fairy Godfathers! I think it will be fun to watch how the little people react to all these new "relatives" joining them for tea.

If you have ever seen the Bibbity Bobbity Boo-tique at Walt Disney World--the ladies there are known as "figits"--FGIT stands for Fairy Godmother-in-Training.

I'm SURE we're going to love it! I made some small things (I hope y'all will like) and have some boughten little things too, just because I LIKE reverse trick or treating. I met one pair of ladies last year - NOT on the fish extender list - they were just giving and not receiving. I thought that sounded like a good deal.

The other two ladies in the room are each bringing stuff too - I think the one is her Disney pins, but not sure.

US too, our age is our shoe size, on vacation.

One of us needs to adopt Josh or Jean???

I think they give the Princes a crown too, but different from the girls. I'll have to check my photos - They all lined up in the atrium before they went in - it was adorable. How are we going to know when it is, if we havn't got a Prince or Princess to accompany? Grandma would like to be out front with my camera!

I find nothing on google about the Prince & Princess Tea on Disney Cruises. But I remember my nieces' invitation from a few years ago, on a 7-night cruise. I've seen a photo somewhere and think I remember their having blue sashes they (the children) wear - similar to "Miss America" sashes.

I'll do it! All my grandsons are boys so that's right up my alley. Jean

I read right over that; took JessicasMom's comment for me to catch it.

ROOM CHANGES ONCE ONBOARD

If you are lucky enough to get an upgrade / change of stateroom and are taking part in any of the special events, such as the Fish Extender, Secret Mickey, Candy Swap, Scrapbook exchange etc then you will need to notify everyone of your new room number as soon as possible.

Therefore I will put a whiteboard on my stateroom door 6507 as soon as we can access the rooms after boarding, please make your way there asap & leave a message stating your DIS name, old room number & new room number.

Anyone distributing gifts/exchange presents should swing by & check the board before delivering gifts to check on any room changes. I will also have a few spare printed FE lists in my FE just incase anyone forgets to bring a copy with them.

In the unlikely event that I get a room upgrade at the port, I will put my white board on my neighbours doors (Mary, Tod&Copper #6511) as there are several of us in that area of the ship. (I'll clearly mark the whiteboard as room change info so you know it is the right one & not someone's general message board). Pinky166 - Claire

Turning to the bottle already??? The drama continues....can't wait for the next episode....:rotfl2:

This implies that I wasn't drinking before. An erroneous assumption. :drinking1

I was just thinking, with all of us needing to get in touch with each other for various things, are we going to have a master list of names and room numbers? Not that I'm volunteering or anything. I just wondered if that was part of what Noel is doing with the DIS Navigator.

I've got quite a few on the FE list, and we have more now that the Candy Swap list is out. Obviously, we're waiting for the GTY people to get their assignments. But with FE's alone, we have 60+ room numbers.

If we had a list, it would be easy to call and leave messages for things like the Prince & Princess Tea. (And to make prank calls, but I'm not the one who suggested that. :joker:) It would also be useful for the "traveling magnets" - I'm assuming we can leave those on any DIS'ers door, not just those who also have magnets. (Or am I wrong about that? Could be my alcohol induced haze.)

Having 2 boys I have NEVER been to the Bibbity Bobbity Boo-tique BUT I have always remembered it because of the way I first heard about it.

A little girl in our neighborhood came down with leukemia when she was 3. It was horrible - one day her parents took her to the pediatrician for what they thought was a cold and the next thing they know the doctor is telling them he has called for a helicopter to airlift her to the children's hospital. It is a heartbreaking story with a happy ending - after a two year battle she beat the cancer and is now a healthy, happy, beautiful 7 yo girl. In fact, I think my son has a little crush on her as she was the only girl he listed on a long list of friends he wants to invite to his first sleepover!! :scared1:

But things were bleak there for a while and her dad kept an online journal for friends and family to keep track of what happened. And that is how I first heard of the BBB. She had been undergoing chemo and had lost all her hair. They decided to take the family to Disney for vacation. Here is an entry her father posted about their first day in Orlando for their family vacation at WDW:

There is something magical about Disney. On Saturday morning we woke up and went over to Downtown Disney to pick up our tickets for the parks and take a quick look around. Kinda ease the kids into it a bit.
We ended up in the Disney Princess store, basically where the sell all the girly stuff. As we were walking around, we noticed that there is a ‘little girl spa’ in the back called Bibbity Bobbity Boutique. It is a place where young girls go and get their hair, makeup, nails etc done and dress up like one of the Disney Princesses. I guess in the under 10 demographic, it is a pretty important place.
So… alone, I walk up to the girl at the ‘completely overrun with young girls and their family’ front desk and ask if they have just nail polish services. She says no, they only do full packages of hair, nails, makeup. I explain to her that Haidyn has no hair. She replies that they can work with fine or thin hair. So I point over to Haidyn, the girl looks, and then… the Magic begins…..
She looks at the girl next to her and says “I need room for a special one.” Then she waves to Haidyn and brings us back into the fancy salon area.
This place is packed with young girls in various stage of princess-ification. Two of the Fairy Godmothers instantly sweep up Haidyn and she is now the star of the whole place. (I feel a little bad for the other little girls - everyone that works there wants to be part of Haidyn’s experience. I counted 5 beauticians and 2 photographers elbowing their way in.)
With her salon cape on, she selects her nail polish, all kinds of makeup, and of course jewelry. (I’ll post a video when we get back) After a good 30-40 minutes of princess-ification they apply her sash, a fair amount of pixie dust to her head and spin her towards the mirror to show her the results.
Of the 30 or so people in the spa, there wasn’t anyone with a dry eye. In all her glory – Haidyn is now officially a Princess. They had taken a girl with no hair and made her the fairest princess of them all.
We had been in Orlando 12 hours and the Magic was already in full swing. Of course there is more, but we are off to dinner so I’ll try to catch up later.

How nice that so many folks want to be Fairy Godmothers and Fairy Godfathers! I think it will be fun to watch how the little people react to all these new "relatives" joining them for tea.

How are we going to know when it is, if we havn't got a Prince or Princess to accompany? Grandma would like to be out front with my camera!

They do give the kids sashes... and they announce them as they enter the Tea Party... "Announcing Princess Sarah" etc... and everyone claps...
