Jacqueline, we don't quite get to the equator unfortunately. I think it must be fun though.

Just did a google, and you're right. :lmao::rotfl::laughing: I think he had his degrees a bit off and red the 20 as the 0. Grin, can't wait to rub his nose into that one. He's getting old, no way he would've made such a mistake a few years ago.

You know, I think I checked last year so thought I knew, but before I wrote the post I did check again:blush:!!!!

We did the Panama Canal cruises and I really thought we would cross it then but still didn't go far enough south.

Panama Canal I did know it wouldn't come close, but totally took my fathers words and blue eyes about the TA. Just goes to show...... ;)

at least you avoided the check in rant!

Grin, luckily he's not one that does the "bad" rants, but still. Avoiding is still better. ;)

Is your dad still driving your scooter/ECV down to Barcelona Jacqueline?

Yep, he's driving down my van stacked with my powerchair, medical supplies, feedingbags, suitcases etc. He's planning on leaving on wednesday or thursday. Mom and I are flying down on friday and hopefully we'll all meet up at the hotel. On saterday he'll be driving me down to the port and helping me get that mountain of stuff safely to check in. Knowing mum she'll probably tag along wanting to see the Magic. She's already infected with the Disney bug and loves it.

And then; party time! :dance3::banana:;) This way they know I can't be getting myself into any troubles  and they can start their weekend in Barcelona. Don't envy them though, having to drive back. At least they're bringing along a matrass so one can have a proper sleep while the other's driving, but I'm doing a major :worship::worship::worship::worship: to my dad for doing this. He's making this cruise possible. Forget that chair getting damaged when flying, within the EU I'ld have to pay overweight fees for my feedingbags. And roadtransport ain't cheap either with needing to keep it in a controled temperature.

Some of the DCL CM's are rather in love with the new ship. Missed it earlier, but just reread a mail I got earlier this week from the spec. needs department from DCL and guess what?

We look forward to you sailing with us on board the Disney Dream in September!

I'm sure many dreams will be fullfilled this cruise for many of us, but I was thinking we'ld do the Magic also. ;)

By the way, have we found out yet what the Magic is doing the week prior to our cruising? After such a big hoopla a few months ago about DCL cancelling that Med. cruise I really expected that by now we'ld have at least a serious rumour what the Magic would be doing instead. Nothing. Yet? I know many people must be wondering with me, "disney magic september 3 2011" is a commonly used search criteria on google.

I have one idea for my FE gifts which might be an option ... will have to look into it a bit more. I am also sticking with another idea and I will have to come up with something for the kids in my group too.

Anyone know where in UK they sell whiteboards .....or do you have to get them online or Ebay?

I haven't come up with anything for the kids yet either.

I bought mine on ebay, it was only a few quid & will do the job as i'll bin it at the end. :thumbsup2

OK ladies, please forgive my ignorance and put me out of my misery why are you all wanting whiteboards?

Be warned though!!!!!!! They can give you a heart attack! :lmao:

I was writing a message for someone on their door on my last cruise and as I was bent over writing she opened the door, I sort of stumbled forward, she jumped back and we both looked at each other and screamed. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Lee was on the floor laughing his head off, he said it was like something out of a Carry On movie - he laughed about it all day!

I agree with you on the size of the group.

I plan on dividing pr. cabin not pr. person. I might add a few items in the rooms with children because most of the candy I'm planing on bringing is "adult candy".

That's good to know, I think I will go with my original plan on dividing it per cabin. :thumbsup2

That was what I was thinking about, the luggage allowance. After all, it's easy enough for me to make small groups if that's whats needed for some to be able to participate and simply add those that are willing to exchange with a larger group in multiple groups.

Only did it once, so if there are any other ideas about this am very curious! Having said that, we did it in the same way as with the FE and that's the way I think it will work easiest now. Simply put; give the "givers" the freedom to decide whether to gift per stateroom or per person, just like we do with the FE gifts. We got a few kids also signed up and depending on age, I could see where some types of candy and/or chocolate might not be appropriate for the really younger ones.

I think i'll buy one or two extra things for the ones with kids. :thumbsup2

I'm personally still browsing the shops, getting a bit of a headache. Got quite a few ideas about what I want to gift, trying to keep it a bit on the "dutch side". But I'm finding many of those do not come in "individual" bags, unfortunately. Still got enough time to score me some. Worst comes to worst, I'll just hit an oldfashioned candystore in the city where you can still go "one of those, one of them, ooh three of that one...". Love those stores.

I think if something is individually wrapped then that would be ok, wouldn't it? :confused3 So for example if you bought a bag of toffee's that were individually wrapped & opened the bag to divide the individual sweets (which are wrapped) between the cabins. :confused3

Sounds like you're setting yourself up for real loads of work. A couple of handmade things? :worship:

Laptop breaking?! :scared1: Hopefully at least in such a way you can still access all of your files one way or another?

It's not too bad, i'm about half way on the first gift but need to get the laptop fixed or start all over again on the 2nd gift.

The backlight in the screen has gone so i'm not too sure if/how much it would cost to get it fixed. Luckily I pretty much had everything backed up on an external hard drive - other than the FE stuff.

Don't faint, just wear it and enjoy it! The perfect place for a dress; a cruiseship.

I know what your saying but i've only worn 2 dresses since I was about 7! One was my wedding dress 10 years ago & the other was a bridesmaid dress about 16 years ago...so I am a bit scared!

Knowing my luck, if I glue anything, it'll come crashing down unexpectedly. Those things tend to prefer timing when it can injure me while failing. :rolleyes1 Am looking into magnetic tape though, somehow trust that more than me glueing a magnet on there.

:rotfl2: I have the opposite problem, I always manage to either glue the object to my fingers or I have been known to glue my fingers together. Suffice to say Lee has banned me from using glue! :rolleyes1

Did they fancy doing the cruise too? It is good of them to send you on your way, but mums and dads want the best for their children and for them to have a good time too!!!

I haven't seen anything, and last week I spent some time Googling to try and find out anything. Still a secret trip I think. I hope they look after OUR ship and don't spoil things for us. Also I hope they get moving and off the ship in good time. If they are rich spoilt people they might be slow. You can't imagine DCL being itchy with them can you, they will just delay us instead.:sad2:

I heard that it was booked by a company, so a private party. :confused3

Oh, absolutely that would be ok! Thing is, the candy I'm considering does not come individually wrapped but all come without any wrapping apart from the big bag itself. Somehow I think it's not that smart to knock on each stateroom door, go "hold up your hands" and drop in some kinds of nonwrapped candy.

It's not too bad, i'm about half way on the first gift but need to get the laptop fixed or start all over again on the 2nd gift.

Fingers crossed you can get it fixed quickly, easily and affordable. :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: I have the opposite problem, I always manage to either glue the object to my fingers or I have been known to glue my fingers together. Suffice to say Lee has banned me from touching super glue! :rolleyes1

Sounds like we might be the perfect pair when doing things together.

i'm the same, apart from my wedding dress, gary had never seen me in a dress until last cruise.

Hey it wasn't funny! ;)

We still laugh about it now. :rotfl2:

LOL. Somehow I can imagine you doing that. :rotfl2:

Thanks but nothing to do with computers is ever cheap!!!

It does indeed. :thumbsup2

anyone on here DVC members?
trying to decide between a few resorts for our post cruise 3 nights.
its between SSR, AKV, BLT or BWV. have stayed at SSR and AKV before and we would kinda like to stay somewhere new, but also think why mess with something we know we like?
other option is BLT either bay lake view or MK view, or BWV preferred view.
any guidance/opinions/help will be appreciated!

Mom would probably, dad? Not sure with the Disney-thing. He can't anyway as he can't get a US-visum because of one of those annoying bureaucratic thingies. We are planning on one day doing a HAL-cruise, as a whole family (brother, SIL and nephew also). Parents now really are open to the idea of cruising and with HAL now planning on getting a ship to NL full year round and adding more exciting itineraries it is very tempting.

You said it well, parents allways want the best. :thumbsup2 These two are a bit lovingly nuts though. They know travelling is one of the most important things in life for me and will do anything and all to make that possible. They've also been faced with the constant damaging of chairs when flying. When I first mentioned this cruise, my dad already started working his brain on how to get my chair safely to Barcalona as he knew there would not be enough time to fix real bigger damages quick enough to still be able to go on the cruise. Let's not even mention all the other things that have gone..... interesting on me as soon as I decide to go on a trip. Dad's the silent type, didn't say a word about the cruise for over a month until coming up with "the perfect plan" in making sure this time at least I get sent off without real troubles. He's a doll, that one. :goodvibes

You guys are right. It has to be private and rather secret. Must be huge big bucks in order for whomever to get DCL to close it to the public. I am kind of expecting that sooner or later somebody can no longer keep their mouth shut. It takes just one person talking about going on the Magic in that time for us to find out who's on it before us.

And boy I can SO see what you are saying about delaying us instead of $$$$, Marilyn.

BWV will be a probable no. It's close to food&wine and the Epcot resorts are quickly booked by then. Even OKW (studios) is fully booked up for most of the 2 weeks I'm doing afterwards.

BLT; do you plan to spend lots of time at resort, MK and/or Epcot? Than I could see that being an option if available. Otherwise I'ld go with SSR or AKV-Jambo House. But that's me and I'm obviously no owner.

Hi from Evansville Indiana. Finally in a hotel where there is internet. How people live without it in this day and age, I do NOT understand. (we were at my s.i.l.'s house and they don't even have a computer at all.)
:rotfl2::rotfl2: my children would think someone had cut off their arms and legs.....or worse

This is getting juicy!! I want to know the 3 men! popcorn::

juicy:rotfl::rotfl: is that the men or the fish..... a bit of double meaning somewhere:rotfl2:

Candy swappers, attention!!!!

I'm still getting PM's off people signing up, great! :thumbsup2 This slowly does bring up the question about groupsize. That's why I want to know the opinion of participants about max. group size. Which numbers are you still comfortable participating in? At the moment we've got 14 staterooms signed up for a total of 37 participants in varying ages. If there are enough participants that want to keep the groups smallish, I can devide up into 2 groups, add a 3rd if needed etc. Like with the FE you can then decide if you wish to participate in one or more groups. As usual; signing up only counts after sending me a PM to do so and receiving a confirmation reply from me.

:dance3:wow 37 is a lot, now a bit worried will Morrisons run out of chocolate!!! I don't mind what you decide, but i think if the number of people hits 50, you will have to split them...having never done this before I have nothing to compare it to

margaret

Have you called to check on DVC availability? I think you might save yourself some stress if you rule out the resorts that are not available anyway. I have not had good luck in booking DVC lately--always seems to be one or two days that are already booked.

i'll be renting points again, have done it three times before and its a bargain when compared to booking a hotel.
unfortunately that means that i cant phone up and check availability myself, and havent found a renter yet :(
