I'm still getting PM's off people signing up, great! :thumbsup2 This slowly does bring up the question about groupsize. That's why I want to know the opinion of participants about max. group size. Which numbers are you still comfortable participating in? At the moment we've got 14 staterooms signed up for a total of 37 participants in varying ages. If there are enough participants that want to keep the groups smallish, I can devide up into 2 groups, add a 3rd if needed etc. Like with the FE you can then decide if you wish to participate in one or more groups. As usual; signing up only counts after sending me a PM to do so and receiving a confirmation reply from me.

Sarah; finally the dreaded sunday has come and gone. As stated before, you so fit your mum-title. On the positive; finally you can also count down the days until seeing her again and sharing some extra special moments. :thumbsup2

Krisann; congrats on the official go!

FE-participants, have you all also noticed that there are lots of us females participating? I expected very few kids, but was a bit surprised with the relative smaller number of men. And yet I read all about men wanting to get as much gifts as possible? I must be cruising with a special breed. :rotfl:

After downloading the lists Pat made for us ( :worship::hug:) I worked on them yesterday. Have the gifts done for the participants at the list at that moment, still need to distribute for those signing up but that's now very little work. Actually am picking up a bit of a new hobby, so if time allows it I might just end up adding a homemade gift.

Was very thankfull for getting my SM-assignment early from Karen and after receiving it I kinda felt a bit out of my comfortzone. Didn't get that  at first where normally ideas pop up in my head when I know who I'm getting a gift/gifts for. Lo and behold, I hit the internet and some shops today and run into something that made me go  and have got that taken care of also. Yet another thing to cross of my to-do-before-cruise-list. :thumbsup2

Also picked myself up a whiteboard, poohthemed. Wasn't my favorite character but it was either Pooh or Cars so Pooh it was. For those that have put whiteboards on their stateroomdoors before; how can this be done safely and in a way that doesn't damage the door? The one I got happens to come with a rope to hang it from a hanger or screw but as far as I can remember there is no such thing on the doors. And am using the fish for the extender so that one is taken also. ;)

Hmm, I've been in a buying mode these last few days. Finally made a decision on a new microwave/oven. Parents told me a while back that I could pick one out as a gift but hadn't been able to find something that fits my likings and offer all the options I need when baking. Can't wait till it gets here next week! Right now I'm baking everything in something that is earily close to an easy bake oven. :rotfl2:

Oh and for those having to wait until the 75-day mark for reservations;

logged into my reservation yesterday and had a look see for Palo. We knew about the high tea being fully booked online. However, there was no single day or timeslot left for brunch either. This was for a 1-2 adults reservation.

Fingers crossed some extra spots will get opened up for those in the 75-day group, but did want to mention it so that hopes aren't up too high if there are no additions being done.

Yay! :cheer2: Now run and go get those Palo reservations!!!!

we are doing dinner on the first night but only because it is free. We normally do not eat at Palo except for Tea (will book that on board - or get on the waiting list) - we do brunch if it is with a DIS group. Palo is nice but not a have to for us.

Did you get my email for Candy Swap?

As for the white board - get a big magnet clip and use it to hang your board - only magnet items are allowed on the door.

Krisann

Krisann, see your PM-box. :) You are signed on, added you to the list on page 2 of this thread.

Magnet, hmm need to go on a hunt for that one. Thanks for the hint!

You can buy sticky(one side) magnetic tape that you can stick on the back of the whiteboard and then put magnet side down on the door.

I am happy either way with the Candy exchange at the moment, however if it was to double in size then luggage allowance maybe an issue. As you say if some people want smaller groups then you could split it as per the FE & the rest can just sign up to all, that way everyone is happy. :thumbsup2

I've never done the Candy exchange before so I was wondering how are you working it. I was planning on buying lots of candy then dividing it between the number of cabins taking part, or should I be doing it per person?

I'm still plodding along on my FE's. I making a couple of handmade things, one is going well but is quite time consuming & the other is giving me a headache due to my laptop breaking & the stuff i've already prepared is on it! :headache:

I've been doing a lot of shopping recently for the cruise too, i've got my Secret Mickey gifts finished. Some new trousers, several new tops, and even a dress!!! :faint:

My whiteboard has a magnet on the back, can you glue one on somehow?

Well, Johnny and Tony of course!!!;)

Spot on Marilyn ...... Tony because he would be funny to watch fishing as he knows absolutely nothing about fishing :rotfl2: and Johnny because .. well just because ( and especially if in his Captain Jack rig out fishing from the Black Pearl ... ok, a girl can dream ) Number 3 would be Ramin Karimloo as he would just be extremely attractive to watch fishing too.

Blame Sarah for limiting the number to three! I think it makes it more interesting in deciding which names make the cut.

David Boreanaz is AOK with me. How about Nathan Fillion? Taye Diggs?

... I will have to google these 3 chaps!

It's because I don't like fish!!! ;) What on earth were you thinking Marilyn!!?!??!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh my word ...... what have I started now :scared1:

I have one idea for my FE gifts which might be an option ... will have to look into it a bit more. I am also sticking with another idea and I will have to come up with something for the kids in my group too.

Anyone know where in UK they sell whiteboards .....or do you have to get them online or Ebay?

I had to look your 3rd choice up and yes, he is quite nice indeed!!!

I found some on a market stall cheap, but I have seen them in other places like those office/pen/paper shops you see around. My market stall one will probably fall apart on the first day!!:rotfl:

OK ladies, please forgive my ignorance and put me out of my misery why are you all wanting whiteboards?

I know how to do that much. I made a door magnet with our names on it. Let me know if you still need it done.

thanks so much for the offer sue, but i'm all good now. thanks anyway:thumbsup2

I can't believe you guys are struggling to come up with 3! I could name about 10! :rotfl2: ;)

I also thought Johnny & Tony for Sarah but not sure on the 3rd.

Some of the one's that spring to mind for me are:
David Boreanaz
Johnny Depp
David Beckham (but unlike Marilyn & Phil Spencer - I would not want him to talk :lmao: )
Robbie Williams
Will Smith

agree with you on david boreanaz, but not so bothered about the others

why is dinner free on the first night? never heard of that before?

try the 99p stores or poundland, i've bought one from there before. it was a bit naff quality to be honest but it did the job :)

I agree with you on the size of the group.

I plan on dividing pr. cabin not pr. person. I might add a few items in the rooms with children because most of the candy I'm planing on bringing is "adult candy".

That was what I was thinking about, the luggage allowance. After all, it's easy enough for me to make small groups if that's whats needed for some to be able to participate and simply add those that are willing to exchange with a larger group in multiple groups.

Only did it once, so if there are any other ideas about this am very curious! Having said that, we did it in the same way as with the FE and that's the way I think it will work easiest now. Simply put; give the "givers" the freedom to decide whether to gift per stateroom or per person, just like we do with the FE gifts. We got a few kids also signed up and depending on age, I could see where some types of candy and/or chocolate might not be appropriate for the really younger ones.

I'm personally still browsing the shops, getting a bit of a headache. Got quite a few ideas about what I want to gift, trying to keep it a bit on the "dutch side". But I'm finding many of those do not come in "individual" bags, unfortunately. Still got enough time to score me some. Worst comes to worst, I'll just hit an oldfashioned candystore in the city where you can still go "one of those, one of them, ooh three of that one...". Love those stores.

Sounds like you're setting yourself up for real loads of work. A couple of handmade things? :worship:

Laptop breaking?! :scared1: Hopefully at least in such a way you can still access all of your files one way or another?

I've been doing a lot of shopping recently for the cruise too, i've got my Secret Mickey gifts finished. Some new trousers, several new tops, and even a dress!!! :faint:

Don't faint, just wear it and enjoy it! The perfect place for a dress; a cruiseship.

My whiteboard has a magnet on the back, can you glue one on somehow?

Knowing my luck, if I glue anything, it'll come crashing down unexpectedly. Those things tend to prefer timing when it can injure me while failing. :rolleyes1 Am looking into magnetic tape though, somehow trust that more than me glueing a magnet on there.

I have been in a FE group on 2 cruises where we joined together to buy and deliver to every door small dry wipe boards with the cruise details/logo on. It was great to wander the corridors and leave little messages on the boards as you went by, and also read the little messages on our board too.

OK ladies, please forgive my ignorance and put me out of my misery why are you all wanting whiteboards?

You've read all of the excuses we can make up for using them. One more; it's an easy way of letting others know if you can be disturbed, where to find you, to communicate with your stateroomhost if you are not there (notes can sometimes be missed and something on the door will be seen), you name it. Just an onboard version of our rollcall, so to say. :littleangel:

Christina; read your opinion about the groupsize. :goodvibes

Oh, and a question for those that have already done a TA with DCL: when crossing the equator, does DCL in any way celebrate seeing Neptune? My dad has this "can't care less about it, cause it's Disney" attitude, but it's hard to maintain when it's about anything naval and you've got salt water running through your veins instead of blood. :upsidedow When he had the  about putting the ports I mentioned over time together he blurted out about wanting to know if DCL does anything for those "seeing Neptune" as they're crossing the equator for the first time. I already told him I highly-highly doubt it as I've never read it mentioned in any of the tripreports, but had to promiss him I'ld ask. So here I am. Am I right in assuming I'm right in expecting nothing will be done? If so; I'm already feeling for those CM's working the terminal on boardingday. I will give it a 100% that he'll be opening his mouth about "such a naval injustice being done" to each and any CM he'll get his eyes on. popcorn::

Jacqueline, we don't quite get to the equator unfortunately. I think it must be fun though.
