claire sorry to hear about your uncle's funeral, hope your week gets better.

thanks everyone for the kind messages re garys dad, we're just keeping fingers crossed at the mo. i dont know how long gary's going to be up there for either, so everything is just so up in the air at the mo.
thanks pat for posting the info about the cancellation policy. looks like ive got til mid june to be able to make a decision and still get our money back (although we would lose the flight money). hopefully we should know more by then

Thanks hun.

I hope you don't have to cancel & lose your flight money. Have you taken out travel insurance yet? If you have you may find your flight's could be covered due to the circumstances.

we havent yet but i do need to get it soon.
anyone in the UK got any recommendations for companies that will cover the cruise and a land stay?

Hi Karen, sorry to hear about Gary's dad. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Does anyone know if I can hire a car from PC?

Mel x

You sure can. :thumbsup2

We usually book through USrentacar.co.uk, we are picking up from PC & drop it off at Miami airport (done PC to MCO in Feb too). Have a look on that website as they are usually the cheapest around. :thumbsup2

Yes, we usually book through them, unless you want a 1 day car hire and then you have to go direct to the car hire firm.

Karen -- our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

We did the WWII tunnels in Gibralter last year when we stopped to take pictures of the apes in the am.. We had an ape that opened the window and climb in the van and started blaring the horn. I will check and see if I still have the video to post this weekend. It was very funny.:rotfl:

How did you like the tunnels? We are considering that tour, but would like to see as much of Gibraltor as possible. Thanks, Connie

My husband loves history so he liked it alot...I thought the best part of the tunnels were when we all got to look of a cliff and see gibraltor (great pics).

I enjoyed the tunnels a lot. Views great. Liked seeing the airport and the cars traveling across the tarmack as well as people crossing at the lights

just wondering, i know final payment is due on 13th may, but when is the cut off for being able to cancel and still get all your money back?
reason i ask is that we found out yesterday that gary's dad's tumour is back, i dont know at the moment what the prognosis is, so wondering what the absolute cut off for refunds is.

So sorry to hear about Gary's dad. We'll keep you guys in our prayers.

Hello -

Well, I put a down payment on this cruise, but until I lock in a really good airfare I must admit I cannot commit 100%. I just joined up on DisBoards - I've been on Cruise Critic before but this thread is AMAZING and HUGE!! Of course, I've only been able to read through a little of it so far, but what I have read is really getting me excited!! I was worried about my kids getting bored on a 14 night, but after reading some things on the boards I think this cruise is going to be a blast!

Welcome!! :cheer2: You're absolutely right, the kids will NOT get bored on this cruise! Yes the disboards cruise threads are a lot more robust than their counterparts on cruisecritic. It can be overwhelming at first b/c you realize you can quit posting for about 5 days and then there are 25 pages to catch up on lol.

We ended up booking our air w/ Cheapoair and we did book recently so you might want to check that out. There are probably others who recently booked air too who might be able to tell you where they found a good price.

I love Busch Gardens in Tampa, we have been several times, we drive over from Orlando for the day. :)

Yes it is nice to have so many theme parks around. And Legoland is coming (though I've heard it is more geared towards children.)

What a lovely dog. Is your dog able to interact with people. I say this because we had a lady with a service dog in the hospital and we were't supposed to pet it or make a fuss of it because it infererd with its ability to do the job.

I am having second thoughts about this cable car now, especially about the angry monkeys as they terrify me. I was hoping to nip up in the cable car, take some photos of the view and have a leisurely stroll back down without encountering too many of them. :scared1::scared1:

Like Mary says, the walk down is not so much a leisurely stroll, it is a bit of a hike. I'm pretty fit and my legs felt like jelly after walking all the way down from the top. I think it took us maybe 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Definitely hit the caves on your way down though! They are well worth visiting.

Also, we did not encounter any monkeys on the walk down.

So I got up at 4:50 am this morning to do our ressies for our Dream Double Dipper in August. Straight in, wow one reservation left for Palo brunch, just about to hit the confirm reservation button and the system locked me out with an error

Logged back in and it said that another person in our party was in "my cruise plans" making other ressies and locked me out for 30 mins :sad2:

Needless to say that it was gone by the time I got back in :headache:

There's only one sea day, so looks like we're not getting to eat in Palo on that cruise, will need to just wander up to Palo for a nosey to see what the difference is from the Magic

I'm going to need to go back to bed by lunchtime today I think, I'm feeling shattered already, I didn't get back to sleep when the alarm went off at 6:15

:sad1: Sorry you couldn't get your brunch reservation! Maybe there will be some available on embarkation day.

sarasota is all over our news at the mo, two british tourists got shot there a couple of days ago, and its all over the news.

Yes, it is pretty shocking. The 16 year old who committed the crime was arrested previously but was released into custody just 8 days before this happened.

Sarasota is a smaller town and it is rare for tourists to encounter crime. The two tourists were in a bad part of town though, so we are all wondering how did they get there & why were they there? Just a really sad situation.

Oh Karen I am so sorry to hear this. We will be hoping and praying that the tumor is not serious.

Just got back from San Antonio, TX for a week long conference. So glad to be back on the DIS! I've missed so much. I'll update the hotels list tomorrow.

How did you like San Antonio? If you were at a conference you probably stayed on the riverwalk right? We lived in Houston, TX before we moved to Florida and we used to love taking weekend trips to San Antonio and visiting the missions, the mercado and the riverwalk. :cloud9:

for people who were on last year's WBTA, was the ship full?

On our taxi tour the guide took us over the road over the runway. It was a strange experience.

for people who were on last year's WBTA, was the ship full?

I seem to remember all the rooms being taken, but numbers very low as the rooms weren't full. Lots of singles and couples and few children.

Hi everyone,

Wow, I've been trying to catch up with everything at home and have been working a ton as well. Andrew's 13th birthday party with family is this weekend and it's been a challenge getting the house ready. I swear my house was upside down and sideways with me trying to work, take care of Steve, take care of Andrew and the dog...not to mention yard work! Phew, I'm tired just thinking about it all.

Karen, we are so sorry to hear about Gary's dad. We will include him in our prayers. I hope that things calm down and that you all are able to come.

I'm hoping next week to finish getting caught up and finally turn my attention in earnest to the t-shirts and cruise planning!

Take care all,

Karen

We will be arriving 3 days early to do some sightseeing around Barcelona. Where should we stay in terms of location - La Rambla, Barri Gotic or Gracia? I am not familiar with the different districts within Barcelona so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well that's me finished my cruise clothes shopping, at last :woohoo:

I hit the fantastic Marks and Spencer 50% off dress sale and just won a formal night gown on eBay at a fab price :cool1:

DH will be relieved it's over and so will his wallet :lmao::lmao:

Wow well done you!!! :worship:

I haven't bought any clothes for the cruise yet. :sad2: I really need to get back on my diet, it's gone totally out of the window lately! I say sitting here eating a bag of Mini Eggs!!!!

The only thing I have bought are two pairs of Birki's. :lmao:
