Sea world

Hi,
I am booked to visit Orlando from the UK in January /febuary 2006 with my family. Everything is planned, booked, paid for. After seeing another members video of Seaworld I so want to visit there. It looks fantastic!!!
So a few questions please....
Is it as good as it looks?
Is it possible to visit and do everything in 1 day?

Thank you, I need to be able to convince DH that we have to squeeze this into out plans

My Dh and I were there the day before thanksgiving this year. I had heard that it wasn't that great and if you like disney it's not as good..... Well I love Disney but Seaworld was also very fun for us. We both love the ocean and marine life. So this was great. We got to feed seals and touch dolphins. We really enjoyed the shows that they had. The new show Horizons(i think thats the name) was great. They don't have many rides. One simulator, one water ride and one roller coaster. The roller coaster was fun. We did it twice. We enjoyed it very much. I haven't seen the video so I don't know what they show you. If you like marine life and aquarims then you will probably like Seaworld.

Dis memebr Danandjackie had the video on one of their posts and it was great!!!!!
I also checked out the sea world website and it looks fantastic. We are soo looking forward to disney but Seaworld looks different so maybe no comparisons?
The Horizon show looked out of this world. Can you do it all in one day though??

Depends on how fast you move, the crowds and the hours they are open. This is what we did...We were there from 9-6 with low to moderate crowds. We rode the roller coaster twice, skipped the water ride and did the simulator ride once. We saw all the exhibits. We ate counter service for lunch. We saw two shows Shamu and Horizons. We went to Sharks and ate at 5pm. So we got a lot done but did not get to see all the shows. We didn't rush to much though cause it was the end of the trip and we were tired. We did about 45 minutes total shopping. So if you are more disciplined you could probably get it all done in one day. We enjoyed it and didn't feel like we missed anything only being there one day. Hope this helps.

Sounds good to me, crowds should be low late jan & early february. I think it would make a nice break in the middle of Disney as well!!
Well I think I will be firm and say we are going!!

You won't get everything done, but you'll get enough to enjoy your visit.
There are many shows (about 10), 3 rides, a sky tower (few bucks extra), and all the animal attractions.
If you wanted to see every show and attraction, you'd need a couple days. But with one day, you can pick and choose.
It's worth the visit.

I went in late January, '04 with my parents, my brother, SIL and 2 nieces. We had a great time. Got there around 10am, left around 4pm. Saw quite a bit, but not everything. Went again in June '04 with my nephew. Got there around 9am and stayed until about 3pm. Got more done with just the two of us. Skipped the rides on both trips.

My suggestion - go at park opening. If you're going to ride the rides, do it first thing. Eat lunch at or before 11:30 to get in before the crowds and drag it out a bit so it gives you small break. Plan on arriving at the shows at least 20 minutes before they start and even 30 minutes before the Shamu show.

It isn't Disney, but it's still a great park and one of my favorites.

Plan to spend the day from opening to close in order to see everything. Hours will be 9-6 or 7 during that time of year and crowds shouldn't be huge.
Definitely plan your times for the shows when you pick up the schedule. Plan time to feed the dolphins, sea lions, and to spend time in Arctic Adventure watching the walrus and polar bears. We go there first because they feed the whales early and the interaction is cool. Also the polar bears usually are playing more then. The walrus will come up to the window sometimes and interact with you too if you are patient.
Don't forget to go down and see the manatees and check out the underwater viewing for them and the dolphins. Watch for the dolphin that makes rings and plays with them. Really cool.
Get to the shows a little early-especially the Sea lion show Clyde and Seymor because there is a mime that "plays with the crowd" and is funny.
We live in the are, our son works at Disney , but we go to Sea World more often than Disney and never get tired of the park. You can't compare the 2 parks.

We always start our holiday off with seaworld, it is a bit more laid back than Disney and breaks you in slowly, plus i love disney but seaworld is my favourite place
