Scooters?

I'm thinking of picking up a small scooter for my commute. The 50cc models don't require a special license in FL (just a regular DL) or any special insurance but they do need to be registered. If I use it to commute, I need one that will run at 45MPH. I know that that's top end for many of the 50cc models (and I know to be careful that some advertise top speed in KPH) but wanted to know if anyone has any experience.

There are several models on eBay that advertise 45-50 MPH top speed but how realistic is cruising at that speed for 15-20 minutes? Our roads are pretty good and I don't ever have to worry about snow so it would get year-round use.

Thanks!

we purchased a 50CC Honda a few years ago for camping. Its lightweight and gets wonderful gas mileage BUT it maxes out at 30 mph. A little slow for commuting I think. We take it on little jaunts(grocery store, blockbuster) but stay off main roads. I think if i needed something for getting to work, I would go with a bigger scooter, even tho its gonna be more of an inconvenience.
