I understand that the scooter rentals at MK are first come first serve. Does anyone know how hard it may be to rent a scooter if you arrive at rope drop?

Thanks WEDWDW...I feel better. my sister and I are meeting at WDW in Sept. its been 13 years since we have seen each other. DS is recovering from back surgery (9 mths ago) and want to rwnt a scooter for the day.

If you need a scooter for more than one day, there are several Disney approved vendors that will rent and deliver to your hotel.. It is a much cheaper option for us. And the bus driver will load the scooter onand off the bus for her. She just needs to tell him.. Hope she does well with her back surgery.. I've had two and doing fine since my last one 2 years ago...

Follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES FAQs thread. Post 2 of that thread is about ECV and wheelchair rental. The first part of the post is general info and in-park rental.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the post, there are lists of off-site vendors that ECVs and wheelchairs, along with contact info.

Regarding buses - the bus drivers will help by directing you if you need help with knowing how to load, when to turn and how to line up the ECV. Some WILL drive it on and load it for you, but they are not actually supposed to do that, so don't be surprised if they won't, even if you ask.

$50 to rent plus a $20 deposit. You get the deposit back when you return the scooter.
And if you are planning on returning to that Park later in the day, they will "hold" your ECV for you.

If you are Park Hopping, you can get another one at a different Park(if available) by showing your receipt and providing the $20.00 deposit.

You can also get one at Disney Springs(if available) by showing your receipt and providing a $100.00 deposit.

Are you just doing one day? If not, you are better off renting from an offsite vendor who will deliver to your resort.

I'll add one more vote for an outside vendor if you are staying onsite, and will use it for at least two days.

They drop it off (and pick it up) right at your hotel. Very easy. No waiting in line in the park.

I also highly recommend that you have her practice driving one BEFORE you go, if possible. Many big box/grocery stores loan them to patrons for free.
